Macaque high-key was pretty suicidal back during his corruption arc tbh. At the very least, he had suicidal ideations especially after his falling out with SWK and LBD recruiting him. It did not help that he was dealing with a growing ability to hear everything (including into the past and the future) and that shit genuinely was so maddening for him. Imagine developing an ability like that you didn't understand ?

I know I yap a lot about how messy his and Wukong's relationship was, and how much it put Mac in a bad way, but he also had some other things going on that were completely unrelated, like the changing of his fur color and his light powers becoming shadows, and his developing omnipotent hearing. That alone was enough to make him crazy GJSJFHD add getting dumped by your favorite person into mix and suddenly he just wanted to die so bad but couldn't really because Wukong erased his name in the book of the dead. (Also celestial monkey immortality...)

And then LBD comes along to manipulate him even more and use him as a pawn 👍 I think there was a small part of him that wanted SWK to put him out of his misery even though he wouldn't acknowledge it
