Could he really afford such a break as Ed had suggested he should? There was still so much to do even if things had calmed down some since that promised day. And while he had gained back much of his eye sight from the stone he said to use on Havoc first, it was still a bit difficult to see things far away with any clarity.

Riza and the rest would probably berate him for not taking any time at all as things began to calm. “I’ll have to take your word for it. Haven’t seen much outside of the capital lately.” He admitted, their conversation finally changing his depressive mood.

From time to time and with as much good as he’d been told he’d done time and time again it still felt like he’d take one step forward and two steps back. “A lot had been mostly unexpected back then as well.” He admitted and then let a small smirk slide across his lips. “Everyone has their own demons, some might just be more pressing than others..” he paused taking in what Ed had said last. When was the last time he’d taken any sort of leave? Roy honestly couldn’t remember, probably between the end of the war in Ishval and learning about the Elric brothers? But not since.

“In all honesty it’s probably been far too long.” He said softly as if not really wanting to admit it. “I suppose it couldn’t hurt to take some time to myself?”

Roy had barely heard Hughes whisper his name, so when his hand had been caught by Mae’s it had caught him a little off guard. But it wasn’t a grab intended to drag him out for being caught where they shouldn’t be. That hand was gentle and warm. The slight tug to guide him back around the “safety” behind the tree was slow and mindful of the darkness they stood in.

Even though he had been led slow enough not to completely trip over any possible roots, his boot had caught the smallest of roots causing him to stumble right into Hughes chest. A deep blush formed across his cheeks as he stayed there maybe a moment longer than he’d meant to. Those words had dark eyes glanced up. Of course he had, and to be honest he had wondered if he had screwed up because Hughes hadn’t said much to him all day.

“That’s a dumb question..” he said softly not even attempting to move from his position. Of course he missed the other. His chest ached with worry all damn day with how little Hughes had interacted with him. “I did though..” he finally replied in a whisper.

Dark eyes followed after the Sargent as they passed the table. It was then Roy had realized he'd still been leaning over his tray. Quickly he looked back to Maes. "Right, I think I have one in my pack."

The rest of the day had passed without much incident, and soon all lessons and training had ended for the evening. Which meant after dinner they'd have about an hour maybe two before lights out. The sun had already begun to set by this time leaving Roy's path dimly lit. He had made it a point to make sure no one had been following him. The last thing either of them needed was someone catching on to their little hidden date.

Reaching the tree both had agreed to meet up at Roy wasn't sure if he'd gotten their first or if Hughes had. Slowly he made his way over and carefully checked around being sure not to call out the other's name just in case.
