The whole gang essentially bands together to become a group parenting system for this dysfunctional manwhore’s baby 😭 no one knows who the mother is, the baby was simply left on adder’s doorstop in a box by one of him many flings- Janosh also has an older teen kid in the au, so he knows what it’s like being a single father, and helps adder through the worst of it :3

i was wondering if you've got any thoughts on janosh, because i love him and i can't help but think he'd give great hugs. like he feels like the uncle no one knows how he's related who shows up to family events for the free food and drink and secretly slips a little cash to the kids after teaching them swears. also can't help but think he would understand henry the most of everyone in the pack because he knows what it's like to lose his home too.

okay first of all: yes, janosh gives the best hugs. he's a great cook, probably a little soft 'round the middle, and is the best at cuddling. probably loves dancing. heart of the party! I would want to party with janosh! who wouldn't want to party with janosh!

i think a pretty big part of that camaraderie comes from the fact that he is also someone from the margins. he's a foreigner in a place where foreigners are often treated poorly just for being foreign. and not just that, he's hungarian! in a place where hungarians especially get an awful rep because of sigismund and his raiding cumans. that marginality is why he fits on so well with the devil's crew. in a lot of ways, the whole crew is made up of people that don't exactly fit in other places. i think that's what i love the most about that whole group.

i also think he feels things very deeply. there was one incredible meta post about janosh... this one by @socklines. janosh has a lot of emotions, but he keeps them very carefully controlled. you usually only see the positive ones, and even when the negative ones threaten to come out, they do so with some reluctance.

during adder's death scene, henry touches on janosh's shoulder. and first, janosh offers him a nod in thanks to acknowledge the emotional support henry offers him in that moment. and then he swats the hand away. like, thank you. i get what you're doing and i appreciate it. but right this second, i need you to back the fuck off and give me space.

when henry checks on him the morning after the italian job, he tells henry straight up that he wants to be left alone. i think if not for kubyenka's return, he would have stayed in that depression for quite a while. he doesn't dip into negative emotions often, but when he does, they fucking stick.

and here's the thing. you mentioned that he'd understand henry really well, and i agree. but one thing that i haven't seen anyone else mention is something that actually found its way into my fic: the fact that hans most likely looks at janosh and sees himself in his grief. especially after henry and sam leave.

he watched janosh lose adder and fall apart in the face of that loss. he sees that, and knows he wouldn't be half as strong as all that if he lost henry. so in that regard, i think while janosh would undoubtedly relate to henry, hans would relate to janosh.
