one of the terrible truths of this world is that only the closest ones can hurt you the most. they can and they do, and it's very easily for them to do. and this is another terrible truth. but if I decide to defend myself, if I put on my armor so that I can't get hurt anymore, then I won't care. and then I'll be alone. there is never a right solution to this crappy dilemma. never.

Why "Lisey's Story" is my favourite King's novel?

Well, It's hard to explain in one word :) the plot in it is not so much mind-blowing or dynamic or scary for me. It's probably about the main character. She attracts me in some way, what kind of woman she is probably. At first it seems that she is a meek and obedient widow, but she has stubbornness, she stands her ground, she has loyalty to her husband. Here for me in this is that she embodies the somewhat unattainable idea of "once and for a lifetime", and also probably the fact that she turned out to be the only one in the life of her complicated husband, who could see the real him (and the real him was a terrible wounded animal) with all his secrets and oddities and still love him and remain faithful to this love and his legacy to the very end, and how even after his death she continued to love him and fight the evil that haunted him throughout his life, and she was able to fight back against this evil, which showed that she was still the strongest of the two of them, she just let his genius shine, and she remained in the shadows, and it wasn't because he pushed her into it, no, she wanted it that way... Sorry for the long text. There were a lot of things in her that I find interesting and not superficial, and not what it seems at first glance. But the main thing is probably that she was strong and stubborn and loyal and could fall in love with someone about whom you can say "he is a tortured soul".

i honestly think the ghoul believes lucy is just full of shit until she gives him those vials. like he does not believe she is genuinely that good of a person because no one is that good of a person anymore, and because she is the product of vault-tec middle-management. he is constantly expecting her to show her "true colors" (hence "there you are, you little killer" after she bites off his finger) until that moment when she chooses to help him despite the fact that he's done nothing to deserve her kindness. COMPELS ME!!!!
