See, while I agree that Steph would understand Jason... Maybe even agree with a choice here and there... I can't help but feel like she'd resent him. Resent his attitude, he's Bruce's son and it's obvious. Nobody has suffered like he, and nobody can understand him. He's so hard done by and he has to be the way he is. It's all the talk of Bruce, with a half baked plan to fix the city's current issues and create brand new ones.

And Bruce bends BACKWARDS for this motherfucker. Looking the other way and giving a million chances. Stephanie knows that if she did just one thing like Jason does on the daily, she'd be Bruce's top target. If she had came back from Africa and tried to kill him, to kill OTHER sidekicks, Bruce would have wasted nothing trying to take her down.

Jason wasn't the one failed by Bruce, Jason wasn't the one that had to fake his death to get away. Jason wasn't the one hurt by Bruce.

Stephanie faked her death. Stephanie died. Stephanie saw her best friend failed time and time again by the boys.

Jason gets no sympathy from Stephanie. He's just another boy who can't control his emotions. He's another man with a gun who thinks he's had the hardest go of it, not knowing just how much worse others, how much worse women, have it.

All Jason is to Stephanie is proof of Bruce's hatred of her, proof of his bias. A boy spoiled by privilege. She would not see the boy from Crime Alley, she'd see the boy from Wayne Manor.

reading about dick grayson in fics is like i love giving him crashouts and existential crises like it it's just a normal tuesday babe, but its easy to forget his innate sense of justice and his intrinsic capacity for optimism!! when he had no light he became the light. despite all his performer's tendencies he is naturally witty and charming and he has a thrill for everything to do with life and love!! thats what magnetizes SO MANY people towards him! like devin grayson said he is a person of many contradictions and she was sooo RIGHT. and i feel that even through his debilitating guilt and contritive tendencies he is so full of HOPE and WILL for the better good.

Considered from a Romani perspective, these panels from Nightwing (2016) #8 just hit a little different.

Raptor, who has been a morally grey mentor to Dick up to this point, isn't speaking to Bruce here as a villain or an antihero, but as a Rom.

Here he's talking to Dick, trying to convince him to leave Bruce (and to let Bruce die which, yeah, Dick isn't going to allow, lbr).

But. He kind of has a point? Because his anger against Bruce "who took a son that wasn't his to raise...from his home, from his people" touches on a very real world issue.

Romani kids are taken by authorities from their families all the time, often for the flimsiest of reasons, all over the world (x) (x) (x). They're either placed for adoption, put in foster homes, or even state care facilities. And often, those families can never get these children back.

Tim Seeley's run, and this storyline in particular, has a number of problems, but he comes so CLOSE here to addressing this issue (but inevitably skirts around it). I've yet to see any other Dick Grayson writer do so at all.

I enjoy how the narrative haunts donna troy she dies to haunt the narrative back and then they just go back and forth with each other . yuri

Something I don’t think we talk about enough is that Dick performing with his parents the night they fell means he had to go down to the ground to get to their bodies. He watched his parents plummet to their deaths and then had to climb back down from the trapeze.

First time Clark reads it and is suddenly hit with recognition so hard and relief that someone else understands just how much more the grief of empty space makes him love earth even more.
