Oh my! Your last pieces posted reminded me a lot of Rothko, but happier, way happier. I loved!
BIG CALL! I love it though, thank you!!

'Home Words', in-situ at home - to give an idea of scale and light. It glows an amazing alien green at all times, the staining of gouache on unprimed canvas worked a treat.

Understudy for 'Home Words' series.
I love this one, it's the first iteration I painted for the triptych / 'BENNY'S' exhibition. Email [email protected] for details - it is now available, as I will be making space in my new studio next year for larger works.

Option 1 for B, as a part of their commission - this is a warmer and more immersive option, in my opinion. I used mauve and hot pink as the base-coat to work up an ethereal glow that mimics sand churning lightly on the floor of the ocean or a sunset with minimal cloud coverage.

Option 2 for a commissioned gradient piece for B.
I used soft pastel on paper to capture a specific light, referencing time in Greece, swimming in the ocean there.
Contact [email protected] to discuss a similar commission; if you have a sky or body of water in mind that you'd like to look at on a regular basis [hanging on your wall!]

‘Home Words I’ Gouache and acrylic paint on canvas 1220 x 2050mm
This is the first painting in the triptych that I will show at The Art Gallery of Ballarat next Friday [13/12/24] for my solo exhibition, titled 'BENNY'S'; which is an abbreviated take on the phrase 'beneficial rays'.

The veggie patch as Rosebud, a study of it.
I layered oil stick over the top of a painting of the garden, because the intensity of the sky is equally as important as the garden.

'Kew, 7:24am'
This piece is equal portions bright and quiet - just like the morning in Kew I referenced to create the work. I used two colours, in equal portions to depict lilac shades melding into a zesty yellow, that tapers off almost completely at the bottom, which is where the horizon line started.

'North Melbourne, 8:49 pm'
This piece from the series is so pigmented it is almost glowing! The use of ultramarine blue pastel paired with contrasting bursts of oil stick, in red, orange and yellow shades makes for an exciting rendition/depiction of a sunset over North Melbourne.

'Fitzroy, 8:29 pm' - This piece from 'SIX WORKS' series is the most warming and familiar, in my opinion. I referenced a sunset in Fitzroy that was suffuse with pollen, pollution and a brilliant peach shade. I have used soft pastel on paper, hand-grinding the pigments and working from a photograph of the sky - during either a sunrise or sunset - to capture the shifting tones.
Two options are available for work in this series: framed and unframed. Visit the Online Store.

A drawing from my latest collection, simply titled ‘SIX WORKS’, which follows the changing times of day in different suburbs across Melbourne - this one in particular, 'Abbotsford, 6:48 am' depicts an intense blue, right before the sun rolls up above the horizon line. I have used orange and red oil sticks to quickly draw clouds that caught the first light in a dramatic way.
I have used soft pastel on paper, hand-grinding the pigments and working from a photograph of the sky - during either a sunrise or sunset - to capture the shifting tones.
There are two options for this piece, unframed [$480.00] and framed [$870.00] For more details and to purchase works visit the online store.
