Slow Caledonia
Something special for you today – an amazing mix of 1970s music from New Caledonia, lovingly compiled by Michael Klausman. Michael is an ever-reliable source of new and wonderful sounds, and Slow Caledonia is no exception. (I’ll admit that I had to look up where exactly New Caledonia is).
Klaus sez: Spent a bunch of hours on YouTube recently fishing the best folk/rock songs I could find from the Melanesian island of New Caledonia, all sourced from cassettes released in the seventies. Some insane harmonies here, very beautiful music IMO, & seemingly little known.
Little known is right – there’s really very little info about most of these artists out there on the ‘net, at least that I can find. But the songs speak for themselves. Slow Caledonia is a pure hit of sunshine for your winter weekend.
