May just laughed, lightly shaking her head at his follow up response to his question. What did she have to hide? Why did she have to hide? It was only a matter of time before she'd run out a time, and if it came a few years early because of some fucking drugs, then oh well. Saves her the medical bills. "That's a cute name." She began, almost reaching over to pinch his cheek just to be patronizing, but she stopped herself, "And May. That's my name." She tended to have that way with people. She was oh so charming, and sweet with just enough zest to be able to make a dirty joke now and then and tease you. Of course, it's not perfect. Plot twist, she's terminally ill! That's usually what gets to people. She's kind, and she's wonderful to be around, but nope, no one could handle death. And if this kid decided he wanted to hang around her for a bit, it'd only be a matter of time before he'd end up like everyone else.

Finn’s eyebrows raised and he couldn’t help but chuckle again. Shaking his head, he leaned back in his chair until he was slid down it a bit. “At least you can admit that.” He shrugged, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket. His eyes caught a hold of hers and he grinned, “I’m Finn, if you didn’t catch that before and I’m pretty sure you never told me your name.” He leaned his head to the side, as if it was his way of asking her to tell him. “You don’t have to tell me— you know if you want to keep your goodies business anonymous.” He laughed, the same grin plastered across his face. This was so odd to Finn. Everything about it. Just having the company of someone who didn’t think he was a total freak was nice and relaxing. With other people, he’d put up a front. Try to filter what came out of his mouth a bit more but with this girl, everything he thought just seemed to come flowing out.

There was a familiar word slipped in there that made her turn on her heel before she could finally reach the counter fully. Popping her head from behind on of the shelves, she smiled softly, looking at the floor, "C'est bon." Now she quite liked learning French in school, and remembers it quite well. Not fluent, hell now, but close enough. Her cheeks were a little pink from embarrassment, her emerald hues looking up from her eyelashes bashfully before looking down again.

He’d forgotten it was a British word, and he felt guilty almost. Thing was, when he’d been on the exhibition, he’d been in Egypt, surrounded by other English people, so because of that he’d just sort of assumed that everyone understood what he had to say, so really it was him who was the ignorant one in his opinion, not her. “Sorry..” He chuckled, head canting for a moment, before he’s biting down on his bottom lip. “I meant thank you, thanks —Danke, Merci..” He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. Yep, he felt quite the idiot.

There was a moment where she just stared at him, wincing slightly as she tried to shuffled through her mind of what he could possibly mean through the context, and British movies and television she had watched (though it was mostly Downton Abbey and Atonement and those didn't do her much good), "Right," She nodded, finally realizing what he could have meant was a thank you. Stepping back, she licked her lips and nodded, "I'll just.. go back to the counter." Now she just felt ignorant and embarrassed, scurrying off to the front again.
Tumblr media
His eyes widen for a mere moment, before a smile lifts on his lips, and a little chuckle, light as anything escapes his nose, in stead of his closed lips. “I’m sure ——Very much sure we would.” He rolls his eyes, the smile turning into a soft smirk as he follows her fingers, nodding gingerly as she spoke, hands pushed into his pockets. “Ah, cheers —” He started, canting his head once adding onto his thank you’s. “—Will do.”

Stepping from behind her counter, she nodded, "Though if you keep talkin' like that, we'll have to make a little history of our own." Bursting into a fit of giggles, she began walking down the singular pathway, stopping at one of the sections as he nimble fingers pointed to the top shelf, "It starts there, and ends here." Bringing her finger down, she tapped the last history book three shelves down, "If you need help, let me know."
Tumblr media
“Oh..Right, of course..” He had walked in for a purpose, but he’d completely forgotten it now, and his eyes narrow in utter concentration, trying to unlock the part in his brain where the memory would be located. “Nope, totally forgotten what it is that I wanted..” He mused aloud, to her. “You know if you’ve got any historic books in here, love?”

"I did say something. I was saying that if you're just going to stand there, you should at least be thinking about buying a book so I don't end up thinking you're some weirdo." She's had a lot weirder walk into her shop. Ones like him, except far less pretty.

“Did you say something?” He’s on another planet at the present moment, you’ll have to give him a minute.

Whatever he did to his neck, it looked pretty bad. May had a feeling what it was. She had her own people in her life who didn't necessarily treat her the best. Never did it make sense, but hate never really does. But since May had her itching suspicions, she didn't even say anything about it. The medications should start working soon, and that would be enough. You can tell a lot about a person just by one thing, and since May knows a lot about this sort of life style, she can piece together parts of his life, and personality. She was an observer, and a manipulator when she wanted to be, but May was not necessarily one of those nasty people to play with people and leave them behind. No, she was too alone in the first place. No one liked being with a dying girl. No one stuck around long enough for her to even play around with. Though she managed to laugh, the pads of her fingers drumming against her cheek, "No, those goodies are free of charge." It wasn't even a joke. May was easier than spreading butter on toast. And that's not an exaggeration.

Finn grinned, shaking his head. “Knew it was too good to be true.” Folding his hands on the table, he aimlessly plaid with his thumbs while the girl spoke. He knew it, of course she didn’t go here. Just wanted to sell some drugs. A small laugh fell from his lips and he looked up at her. “I wish I didn’t go here.” He admitted, turning his head to glance at all the students in the cafe. Which was ultimately a bad idea, considering he had just forgotten all about his neck pain until that moment. “Fuck.” He spat out, quickly turning his head back to face her. “Why are humans so weak.” He groaned to himself, laughing a bit. “But anyway, I just feel as if I have nothing in common with these people. I have more in common with a piece of bread than these stiffs.” He shrugged, resting his face in the palm of his hand. “Everyone here is just like the other. All trying to be the same person. It gets old after a while. Don’t know why you’d wanna come back. Even if it is just to sell your goodies.” He teased. “You should be careful saying you’re selling your goodies, people might thing you’re a prostitue.” He chuckled, biting onto his lower lip to supress his loud laugh.
