To be fair to Phina, he may be a clerk but he has a gun. If she looks through his desk, she would find a gun under a hard-to-access false bottom.

He's full of slight resentment at how some situations panned out so if she can pick up suppressed aggression, Phina's mild concern is justified. (But he won't do anything. That energy's reserved for making Zoraxis' day worse. XD)

I'm still deciding on my lore in their original timeline but I'm considering making Ameri (my Phoenix's husband) an illegitimate child between two prominent families / an illegitimate child of someone prominent (still deciding) in the I Expect Yee to Haw AU. (Physically provided for but emotionally not the best.)

I wonder how Seraphina will react to that, considering her origins. And considering he's the poor soul recording every crime as one of the clerks assigned to record those. (He helps deal with the logistics of whatever shenanigans Fe/Florian gets up to in their lore, might as well transfer it here. XD)

Oh, she'd have so many feelings. Mainly sympathy, concern, and genuinely offer to find a way to help him get out. Phina's been there, and in some ways she's still there, if not physically then mentally.

Hell, I could see her asking if he needed to "disappear" once she's a deputy. She's tied to the law, she can figure out a way. Even if Ameri is doing the work to help Fe, she'd try and offer an out.

Me planning to make him look shady because he keeps burning notes at lunch time: ... How okay are you with misunderstandings?

He's alright. But he burns the love notes Fe leaves in his lunch to preserve his dignity. XD (They're awful puns designed to make him cringe. He's mortified at possibly letting anyone else know.)

If they're gonna talk, it's probably about some missions (or the counterpart of it in the AU) and the more... investigative part. Unlike in the actual game where there's likely a team in the agency getting leads, in this AU, someone has to be the one doing it. I volunteer him as that role.

Also, he's a married man. He'll probably be mortified at the thought of being forced to marry anyone else. (He loves his wife, dang it. He'd say he'd rather die but Fe won't be happy about that so he doesn't. XD) If anyone from her childhood town comes knocking looking for Phina, he'd probably get Fe to hide Phina in their house for a few hours while he lies that he hasn't seen her.

Wait. I think there has been a miscommunication. XD

He's been out for a while, with rumors he eloped with Fe to do it. (Her family basically adopted him emotionally like in their usual lore.) But the bearing of being from the same class as Phina over here at some point is probably gonna trigger some instincts here and there, right?

He's already working with the agency and is the one recording the more under-the-table crimes Zoraxis is up to. I was wondering if Phina will think Ameri is sent to chase after her or something. (It's okay if it isn't the case. Just curious since Ameri was probably treated as one of the upper classes "inconvenient truths" and I wanna know how Phina will react to that.)

Edit: But it is sweet she would immediately connect and want to get him out if he got trapped.

Despite being a bandit she’s actually somewhat helpful. Her schemes target Zoraxis more often than the not and there’s even rumors of her dropping off people lost in the desert at the nearest town. She’ll chase off other bandits and sometimes even give tips to the deputies.

I think her disappearing for an extended period of time is usually a cause for worry because it means she’s either planning something. Or Zoraxis has cracked down on nuisances and she’s hiding till it blows over.

Depending on when this takes place purple dye might be rare and expensive. So Wraith only has purple clothes because she stole them. That’s also why the jacket is a bit big on her.

Speaking of stealing things, Ronald’s previous owner will tell you she stole his mule. That is a lie. Ronald ran away and kidnapped Wraith after she gave him a knife. He’s somehow an even bigger menace than her.

And Florian probably tried collecting water for that very purpose. :D (also to save money. Ain't no way she ain't thrifty in this AU. She's pretty thrifty in every universe, honestly. XD)

Nah. It's his job already. He pretty much helps with Florian's papers even in OG because whatever Phoenix is pulling can be a logistical nightmare at times. XD

True. Not sure but like. You gotta remember that this is also a coal mining town so the water probably had less filtration or something as well. Mining itself can cause environmental damage.

He's trying to build a case against Zoraxis in the more... legal channels. Pretty much everyone is either a bandit, vigilante, or deputy. XD Someone has to file everything, after all. XD

Well, it's probably more in the well waters and streams. @/stellar-collective's Pea probably saw her going to dangerous toxic waters once or twice and thought she was being reckless. xD

"I'm getting assigned to a new project." Candlelight looked at Ollie and Matchstick as they took a break in the breakroom. "I'm not a big fan, honestly."

"Oh, well. Where will you be stationed, Candlelight?" Ollie tried to keep up his chipper move, but something in his gut is telling him that it will be futile in the next few moments.

"I don't remember the actual clearance level, but my mind registered it as 'Hey, you're getting a mind wipe after this.' which was... what was your project again, Ollie?"

"Well, it's KBOOM. Wait—Oh, I don't like the sound of that."

Candlelight's blonde bangs covered her eyes once again. "Yeah... There's always a mild chance it would cause some... side effects. Just like what happened to you."

Ollie's shoulders slumped, eyes darting away as he recalled seeing those files within the lab. "I was the lucky one, well, unlucky depending on you who ask."

Matchstick raised a brow as they looked at the pair, demanding answers. "I'm still here."

"Well, aside from you two missing my face, getting assigned to a project just means that I would get a routine mind wipe. As smart as Hivemind is, it can't guarantee success all the time. The more you use it, the more likely it is for something to go wrong. And if you try to resist, it can sometimes take more away." Her grey eyes seemed even more dull as she looked away.

Her hands traveled to her lips as she tried to compose herself, Matchstick merely looked away, muttering "It'll be fine."
