idk if i will be able to word this right or give my thought process on it any justice at all but one thing i really love about ffxiv's storytelling around the warrior of light is how often it's emphasized that your friends and allies will always be there when you call upon them and there is nothing you cannot face together, while simultaneously meeting that same sentiment again and again with a resounding "you will always stand alone."

well in case anyone else comes across this problem... you have to attack the abyss specifically with Soul Eater. problem is, i had to literally go attack something else until Soul Eater was 'active' from a combo, and then go back to the swirling abyss and attack it. It wouldn't let me just use Soul Eater on it from my hotbar or my actions window, it had to be combo activated. IDK why.

okay i've tried looking for answers everywhere on this and i'm feeling like i might be missing something completely obvious but... how the hell do i re-absorb aether from myste in the dark knight questline? the swirling abyss. i click on it (left click and right click) but all i get is a text box saying "in the depths of the abyss, a flame lingers..." and then nothing happens.

also yes i have tried attacking it, but i get the invalid target error

i know that solution 9 representing imperialism is The Point but it really is something to get hit with a weepy "the war was so hard on us, we needed unobtanium just to survive complete climate collapse and everyone burned each other down for it" after a tour through the Mall of America and seeing that the unobtanium that the world burned itself down for in a desperate bid for survival is being used to produce self-heating coffee cups and disneyland retirement village for dead grandma. they have an amazon warehouse full of souls they keep in kcup pods that they hand out in a state-sponsored work program.

"i guess we just have to respect their cultural differences 🙂" girl they figured out how to burn a soul up like the Go Faster button in fast & furious movies. one of the 17 year olds they have fighting in the thunderdome just huffed your mom's soul like a whippet on pay-per-view and he's going to do that 9 times a week until he gets victorian coughing baby disease and dies. you don't have to be ok with that. this place sucks

does anyone have any recs or tutorials or resources that make the new facebones like... more manageable???? i cannot for the life of me figure them out, and all i wind up doing is twisting one section of the lip back on itself horribly. i miss the old facebones.
