Survival Huddle (and only for survival)
Summary: When a cold February mission turns into a snowstorm, you’re stuck with your teammate Ghost to wait until the helicopter picks you up. However, when you start to get cold, there seems to only be one option to stay warm... not that you mind.
Word count: 2478
Warnings: A mention of being drunk, swearing, but otherwise nothing. (If anything should be added, please tell me!)
Notes: Hi wow it’s been a while huh? Take this Ghost fic where I give you everything and nothing at once. Ghost is not good at processing emotions ever
Tumblr media
-
You were pretty sure you were going to freeze to death.
It was the most miserable February afternoon you’d had in a long time, and that was saying something. With weather that had started last night with crystal clear skies and only the lightest breeze, you’d thought that the mission you and the rest of the 141 were given was to be easy. You’d be home for Christmas, metaphorically speaking.
But no. In less than twenty-four hours, the weather around you had quickly turned from peace to a blustery snowstorm. Low visibility, sharp winds that cut through you, and a thoroughly miserable time guaranteed for everyone outside at the moment. What was perhaps worse was that the 141 were all split up, the lot of you clustered in groups of two or three as you huddled down in separate places. Which left you stuck with someone you both loved and hated being alone with- Ghost.
Said man was currently huddled in a corner close to you. The two of you were in a house that had absolutely zero unbroken windows, but there were standing walls and a mostly unscathed roof save for the one hole in the opposite corner. It had been the most promising candidate out of all the houses the two of you had found yourselves by, so you’d both moved without a word to huddle in and pray the storm passed or the chopper would be by to pick you up soon.
You spared the lieutenant a glance. Though you had worked under the 141 for some time now, Ghost was a bit of a mystery to you in a way the others weren’t. Obviously, the mask contributed to that a bit, but Ghost was a bit of a stoic person inside and out, it seemed. You supposed you couldn’t blame him for being a little stiff in your line of work. It would certainly make things easier.
A cold breeze blew through the windows and the roof-hole at the same time, sending a chill stabbing through your already-cold being and making you shiver a little.
“How long until the chopper comes again?” you asked, forcing your mouth open and managing to form a sentence without stuttering from the cold. You weren’t much of a wuss when it came to temperatures, but it had been hours of you being out in the cold with a small amount of food and an already fucked-up sleep schedule. You were beginning to waver.
“‘Round forty minutes,” Ghost replied, cutting through another almost-spiral of yours. “We’ll be the last ones, since the others were in closer spots.” “Great,” you mumbled sarcastically, tugging your form into a more compressed ball. Warmth was important right now, and you were not keen on turning into a human icicle.
“How are you not cold?” you questioned Ghost.
He tilted his head. You saw his eyes turn to you before his head did.
“Never said I wasn’t.” he replied.
“Sure.”
A chilly silence fell over the two of you again. Outside, the snowstorm persisted, a whistling wind sending a clump of snow falling through the hole in the roof. You swallowed and licked your lips, trying to wiggle your toes in your boots.
How is it possible to be sweaty and freezing all at once? You wondered.
The silence only gave you more time to think. Maybe it was your half-frozen brain, but you couldn’t help but go into survival mode at this point.
Consider the situation, the rational part of you said. Go over the facts.
Sure, facts. You could do that.
-
Fact #1: You were fucking cold.
Fact #2: It would be forty minutes or over before the chopper arrived to retrieve you.
Fact #3: The storm was not stopping, and you were not getting any less cold.
Fact #4: There was only one source of warmth near you.
Fact #5: The source of warmth was without a doubt the most intimidating man you’d ever met.
Fact #6: This man walked in on you drunkenly singing Soft Cell’s Tainted Love with Soap once on a dare you were far too lost to refuse.
Fact #7: This man makes you blush half the time he talks.
Fact #8: This man also scares you sometimes. (Read- often.)
-
Yup, you thought. I’m going to freeze to death.
You exhaled a cloudy breath into the air, side-eyeing Ghost as you very slowly shifted a few feet closer to him, sliding across the floor in a matter that was quite quiet but also quite noticeable. If you could only get a bit closer, get some warmth passing between the both of you…
You could practically feel him watching you, which didn’t help. However, the lieutenant remained silent as ever, just watching. Waiting. All patient and stoic and annoyingly attractive all at once.
It certainly didn’t feel any warmer once you got a little closer, which felt like a small defeat. However, as your eyes watched more snowflakes whoosh through the hole in the roof, you couldn’t help but think how stupid it would be if you died from hypothermia because you were too flustered to just ask your teammate- only your teammate- to huddle up. For warmth. Only for warmth.
And yet your mouth didn’t open, the words feeling like they were on the tip of your tongue and yet not escaping at all.
How much time has gone by? You wondered, staring firmly at the ground. Five minutes? Ten? Surely it can’t be that bad.
You rubbed your gloves together, testing if you could still feel your fingers, which you thankfully could… though it was getting close.
Hand warmers. You thought. Why did nobody bring hand warmers? I could use some of those right about now.
Another cold burst of wind sent the snow pile spinning and scattering, snowflakes spraying across the floor, still stopping a good distance away from the two of you but still showing just how much snow there was.
And then you caught it. As the wind was picking up, sending the longest gust through the house yet, you saw Ghost shiver.
It was the smallest, most imperceptible movement you’d ever seen someone make. He was clearly holding back, but not enough. He was shivering.
The tremors shook his body just a little, his whole body going stiff as the wind picked up and then died down.
He was cold.
The bastard. He was cold. He was very cold and had been playing it off like it wasn’t much of a deal.
Liar. You thought. There wasn’t any venom behind the thought. What an idiot.
“Ghost,” you ventured, taking hold of the moment before you could regret anything. You leaned forward, holding his gaze before he could hope to look away. “Do you want to huddle together?”
He stared at you for a moment. “No,” he said slowly.
“You’re cold.” “Am not.” “I saw you shiver.” you protested. “Drop it,” he said, voice lowering to a slight growl as he grated out your last name.
You swallowed, your bravery wavering for a moment. It was always a gamble with Ghost whether you should keep pressing or not- it was either a good choice or a bad one, no in-between. He’d either explode or simmer down.
You were brave. And you were cold. And you were probably a bit stupid.
“I’m not gonna freeze to death here just because you’re too stubborn to admit how cold you are or whatever.” You scooted over, waving an arm. “Come here. Let’s huddle.”
Hesitation. You felt like you were trying to balance a coin, the coin trembling as it considered heads or tails or the secret third option to just stay put and say nothing at all.
Then, Ghost moved.
Slowly and carefully, like some kind of scared animal, he moved closer. One moment, you were alone in the corner, the next, his leg was pressing against yours.
It sank in a moment later that this was actually happening- Ghost was actually willingly sitting next to you, was almost shy about it, and hadn’t refused being by you.
You swallowed and made the next move, shifting closer to him until the two of you were firmly pressed against each other.
The touch felt downright electric. Ghost didn’t really touch people- he was one of those people who only did things for necessity's sake and otherwise went along with nearly nothing. Why? It beat you.
Ghost was stiff, but his warmth was incredibly welcoming after so long being distant from other warm things. You leaned into him with a small, relieved exhale, your form easing into him.
“Is this fine?” you asked hesitantly, suddenly a bit shy of everything happening. “I was teasing you a bit, I don’t want you to be uncomfor-” “It’s fine.” Ghost said quickly, catching you off-guard. He reached with his hand and hesitated for a moment, then continued, his hand reaching behind you and pulling you closer, securing your form against his side. Your head fell to his shoulder, your eyes widening in the slightest shock as he pulled you closer.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Ghost relaxed. His breathing evened out first, easing in a rhythmic up-down that you had unconsciously synced up with.
His body came next. His shoulder unclenched and relaxed, which only made your head slide a little more snugly into the spot. You felt the rest of him unclench against you, and a slow breath came from him, echoed slightly against his mask.
“You’re warmer, aren’t you?” you asked, your voice a little too soft to achieve the teasing tone you wanted.
“Shut it,” Ghost replied, but the way he said it combined with the relaxed way he spoke your last name didn’t bring it together either.
The silence was comfortable and warm. You couldn’t believe you’d put this off for so long- sure, your left side was still a little cold, but the lieutenant next to you was a warm human body that made all the difference.
A breeze came. Both of you shivered. You scooted just a little closer, pressing firmly against Ghost. You felt his gaze on you, but again, no comment was said.
You thought he might’ve gripped you a little closer, though, try as he might to be discreet.
-
Some time later, your thoughts trailed off into nothing as you found yourself dozing lightly, not asleep in any way but still relaxed enough to bring on the feeling of comfort within your stomach.
For a long time, there was just silence and peace. Just the two of you- Ghost holding you close, your head nestled into the spot where his shoulder and his neck met, one of your arms eventually circling his torso lazily as you draped yourself further over him.
The breaths the two of you shared had long become synced, the rising and falling of your chests together in the cold afternoon. Finally, you blinked your eyes open to Ghost shifting slightly at the sound of a chopper very loud and very close.
You looked up slightly, grip still fixed on him. “Is that-?”
“Chopper’s here.” When Ghost spoke, his voice sounded just a little hoarse, and you looked at him with slight concern.
His mask hid his face as well as always, though his eyes looked a little soft when they found your gaze.
“We should get moving. They’ll want us on the second they land.” “Right. Yes, sir.” You said.
Neither of you moved for a moment.
Ghost regretfully (and predictably) made the first move. His right hand, the one that had been free this entire time, found your hand across his torso and took it, just holding it for a moment as he began shifting away.
You moved then, too, pulling away regretfully. You were well aware that your chin and probably a bit of your face had been smushed against Ghost enough that you had patterns of his gear across it, but you didn’t mind.
The two of you moved wordlessly, Ghost peeking out the doorway into the storm before pulling back in and giving you the sign to wait.
Two minutes passed before Ghost gestured you forward. The two of you jogged out into the snow, where the chopper was just touching down, the ramp already lowering.
Ghost ushered you forward, falling just behind you with a steadying hand close to your back as the two of you ran forward, up the ramp with snow still stuck and half-melted to it, into the darkness of the chopper where your other friends waited.
Soap looked plainly miserable, half-soaked through and with a dusting of snow still atop his head. Next to him, Gaz looked moments away from laughing at all times.
“What happened to you?” you asked Soap as you settled into one of the two open seats across from him.
“I don’t wanna talk about it,” he replied with a small frown as Ghost crossed between the two of you and sat next to you.
“Whole pile of snow fell on him when we were going for the chopper,” Gaz said, looking just a bit gleeful.
You snorted once. Soap gave you a look of betrayal.
“Well, glad the two of you survived,” he said quickly, eager to move on from the subject. “Cold day out there, huh?” “Something like that,” you said.
“I hope you utilized the hand warmers I gave you, Lieutenant,” Gaz said with a nod at Ghost.
You blinked, gaze furrowing. “What?”
“The hand warmers?” Gaz repeated. “I gave Ghost like ten of them for you guys, did you not use them?”
“Didn’t need to,” Ghost said, finally speaking up. He shifted slightly as you looked at him, eyes wide, growing hotter by the minute.
He had the means to warm us up.
“You “didn’t need to?” How did you not need hand warmers, it was freezing out there!” Gaze protested, oblivious.
“Didn’t get cold.” Ghost said nonchalantly, like he hadn’t just spent over thirty minutes downright cuddling with you.
Soap met your gaze, and his eyebrows raised slightly before traveling down to the right side of your face where you’d been pressed against Ghost.
His eyes widened just a little. A small smirk grew on his face.
You grew a little warmer.
Gaz rambled on, continually oblivious to Soap’s realization and your flustered face, ranting on and on about how cold things were to the three of you and the others, most people pretending to listen while all resting and warming up a bit, safe for now.
Next to you, Ghost found your gaze again. His leg reached out and tapped yours once.
You could almost feel his amusement at whatever look was on your face.
Bastard. You thought affectionately, trying to ignore the small jump of your heartbeat when his leg brushed against yours again.
At least you were warm.
-
Ghost the kinda guy to like someone and then not do anything about it (unless of course they offer to cuddle huddle with him for warmth even though he has hand warmers...)
Anyways! Replies are from @lostglassguitars . Hope you enjoyed! I need to post more on here lol

Good morning, everybody.
Roe v Wade has been overturned if you didn’t know that already (and I’m sorry if I’m the one giving that news to you).
I feel so angry and so upset. This is a violation of rights, and is many steps backwards. It’s unfair to women’s rights in every way imaginable and I cannot even put to words how fucking pissed I am. This is unfair. The is unjust. And they will not stop here. They will continue to tear down decades of work and rights and fights people have had just to get them to hear our voices, all because of some old fucks in the Supreme Court who get to decide for all of us.
This blog is unwaveringly pro-choice. If you’re on here and you are not, get the fuck off and never return. This is about people’s bodies. Their choices. What they get to do with their lives should be their decision, not a law’s or another person’s.

Hello! I really love your works! I noticed your requests are open, so if I could request something, could I just get general dating headcanons with Revali, please? You don't have to, though. Have a nice day/night!
Revali Dating Headcanons
Word count: 596
Warnings: None that I've caught since they're headcanons, please tell me if I should add anything
Notes: Aww, thank you so much for the compliment! I loved writing this, and I feel like it's a bit short, but I hope you enjoy. I love writing Revali so much and enjoy to continue doing so :)
-
Revali. Our beloved champion. Oh, how he does not know how to date.
Of course, he’ll pretend he does. Honestly, the first barrier for him was actually telling you how he felt.
And boy oh boy, once you do that? It’s like the floodgates have just opened.
Revali’s a Rito of splendor, grace, and beauty. He tries his hardest in every way to show love and appreciation in ways that he thinks shows through.
(It’s not like he’s worried he’s gonna mess up- not at all!)
If you live in Rito Village, Revali’s going to try and spend time with you always. He’s at your side when you walk through the village, he’s spending the night in your hut while you cook dinner, he’s going for a walk with you when you need to stretch your legs.
He doesn’t let just anyone come and watch him practice at his beloved Flight Range… but sure, you can tag along if you want, he doesn’t mind. He definitely practices with more flair that day just because you’re watching.
If you don’t live in Rito Village, he’s always visiting. He’ll be gone for about two days and then bam- he’s suddenly back like he never left. He had this habit of perching in trees and scaring the living shit out of you when you walk by. He definitely enjoys it even when he insists you’re just jumpy.
He’s very self-conscious about everything, too. You’ll be cuddling and his mind will race the entire time- Am I doing this right? Are they comfortable? Am I messing up? Are they too hot? Cold, maybe? Should I move? You’d never know it from his attitude, but he… worries, you know?
Whatever you do in life, whether it’s research or running a shop, or taking care of children, Revali is your biggest supporter. He’ll tease you, sure- (“I’m bugging you? Surely you, in all your greatness, aren’t distracted by me. I understand, the view must be fabulous, but-” “Shut up, Revali.”)- but at the end of the day, he’s so proud of you. Especially if your job involves making things- he likes watching your hands bring something, anything, into fruition. It’s adorable.
He’s very protective, too. Especially with the rising monsters. Sure, he wouldn’t ever admit he’s worried about you, but… yeah. He’s worried. Revali can’t imagine a world without you in it, and he’ll do everything in his power to make sure you’re  safe and protected in his arms.
On a fluffier side, her me out- DATES. ON. MEDOH! Revali’s taken you up on there before and every process is nerve-wracking as you cling desperately to his back, but now you have to hold onto supplies too?? At least Revali brings the Divine Beast lower so you don’t have to fly as far.
And you have to admit when you get there… it’s damn romantic. Our dramatic bird knows how to set a vibe. The two of you will talk and laugh up there for hours, long after any food is gone, just enjoying the view and each other’s company. Soon, the sun begins to set, and it gets colder, and even though you’re probably wearing Snowquill armor, you wiggle your way up against Revali.
He complains that you’re heavy (he doesn’t mind and doesn’t mean it. At all.)
In the end, he isn’t the greatest at communication or feelings sometimes, but there are genuine moments. And you’re working on it. Revali is teasing and good and protective and would burn the world down for you. You can be sure of that.
-
There isn't anyone on a Revali taglist yet (I think) but hey tell me if you'd like to be added to that or an overall Breath of the Wild one! :)
(replies are from @lostglassguitars so it's not a random stranger I promise)

Ok so you said in your Safe With Me one shot that Adaman was flirting with them against a tree while others were watching.... I really REALLY want to see this if you want... 💙💚💜
Is It Hot In Here? (Adaman x Reader)
Summary: Nights in Hisui are spent around campfires with the members of the Diamond Clan. However, a certain clan leader seems to notice your gaze...
Word count: 1487
Warnings: Like one suggestive line but nothing else
Notes: When I say I giggled when I saw this, I MEANT it anon. Thank you so much for the request! I feel like it's a little short but I hope you enjoy!!
-
When night fell, night fell fast.
Hisui had the nicest sunsets. You’d grown up staring out over views, over the region’s rolling hills, watching as yellow hit the horizon and blended into hues of orange and red and purple.
Sometimes, there was a flash of green, only caught when you didn’t blink as the sun disappeared on good days. As a child, you’d squatted on your haunches long after everybody had stopped watching, holding your breath, barely hoping as you stared straight at the setting sun before there, a green flash across the horizon before the sun was gone.
That had always been you as a kid- too curious for your own good.
Maybe it was an advantage.
Now, you sat around a fire. Various members of the Diamond Clan were out, clustered around different fires around the settlement. Your fire was confined to familiar figures, leaders of the clan. Mai, Arezu, Melli, and… Adaman.
Sabi would sometimes be here from time to time, but the odd girl wasn’t here tonight. When you’d asked why, nobody had an answer.
It was fine. You just worried about the younger members sometimes- maybe because you were seen as one of the leaders of Diamond Clan while not even being a technical part of the clan.
The night was cool and a soft breeze blew across the camp. The air was filled with the sounds of talking, laughter, and overall friendship.
It brought the smallest of smiles to your face as you tipped your head to the sky and watched the clouds, painted light pink as the sun set slowly.
Across the fire sat Adaman, who was talking with Melli about something. He looked gorgeous in the lighting here- the red of the fire against the cool blue of his outfit and the brown in his eyes sent something warm stirring in the pit of your stomach, and you couldn’t help but swallow and hope he didn’t notice how you stared.
Abruptly, the clan leader looked up and met your eyes. The smirk on his face was so smug that you briefly considered calling him out on it. Your embarrassment, however, got the best of you, and you quickly averted your eyes.
He has such nice eyes.
The thoughts you had about Adaman were downright disgraceful sometimes. While Adaman seemed to consider you just as a friend- albeit with some flirting, but he did that with everyone- you couldn’t help but think about him almost constantly.
He was strong and kind, with a smile that put everyone around at ease and natural leadership that immediately got people where they needed to be. He protected effortlessly and never showed any fear under pressure.
He was… incredible. You couldn’t help but have a crush on him- after all, who wouldn’t?
The thing was, it was a hopeless situation. Adaman remained completely ignorant of your infatuation.
It was rather embarrassing. You wished that you, one of the most highly regarded members of the Diamond Clan, didn’t have such an obvious crush on your leader.
Alas. You couldn’t control a thing.
“Hey, you still with us?”
You glanced up from the fire, blinking. Mai was looking at you concernedly.
Forcing a chuckle, you nodded. “I’m fine! Just got lost in thought.”
“About what?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
You stuttered on a response, before your face warmed and you swallowed as your eyes flicked to Adaman. He was talking to Melli and Arezu happily, listening to a story Melli was telling.
“Ah,” Mai said softly as you quickly looked away again. “I see.”
“No, no, you don’t. I wasn’t- Pokémon. I was thinking about Pokémon. As usual, you know?”
Mai wasn’t usually one to poke at you, but from the look on her face, she was feeling a lot more playful than usual.
“Wanna elaborate on the Pokémon you were thinking about?” she asked, a slow smile spreading across her face.
“Mai,” you complained, before an interruption across from the two of you drew your attention away.
Melli stood, pointing at Adaman with an annoyed expression on his face. “We’re going to continue this conversation.”
“Sure,” Adaman agreed sarcastically, a smirk curving up his face as he plopped his head into his hand.
“Once I get more firewood.”
“Oh, of course.” Adaman agreed, being a little shit. As usual.
You, grateful at any opportunity to get away from Mai, stood quickly. “I’ll get it, Melli. You can… continue whatever is going on here.”
“You,” the warden pointed at you with a sharp grin. “Are a lifesaver.” Melli turned his gaze back to Adaman. “Get ready, mate.”
But Adaman wasn’t looking at Melli. Adaman, his head still gently propped in his hand, was gazing at you.
You met his eyes, and, for a moment, it was just the two of you. Adaman gazing up at you, you looking down at him. You could feel Mai and Arezu’s eyes on the two of you, along with some of the other clan members nearby, and that didn’t make it any better.
You shook yourself out of it. “Um. I’ll be right back.”
You walked away fast before your body could get the best of you, face hot. As you quickly made your way to the pile of firewood, close to the fireplaces so everybody could grab some quick, your name was called behind you.
You stopped and turned.
Adaman was approaching at a quick pace. Eyes widening, your thoughts began to race at a mile a minute.
What does he want? Why is he coming after me? Should I be worried? I can’t just run, what am I supposed to do-
Adaman just… kept walking. He was ten steps from you. Then seven. Then three. And suddenly he was close to you, and you just… kept backing up.
And Adaman kept going after you until- bump. Your back gently hit the back of a tree. The tree firewood was under. The tree right in the area where all the members of the Diamond Clan could see you and their leader.
“Skittish, hm?” Adaman asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Why’d you keep walking towards me?” you demanded.
“Why, you never asked me to stop,” Adaman said. His tone was light and full of it, and you loved every aspect of it. Your face was hot- you were thankful the sun was mostly set, because the thought of Adaman seeing how flustered he made you had you completely obliterated.
“Thought it was, um…” you lost your train of thought when Adaman leaned closer. He shamelessly raised his arm and put it above you, trapping you in so you could see nothing but his face, his lazy smirk, his half-open gaze looking you up and down before settling to meet your gaze.
“You’re cute when you blush,” he muttered, his breath just barely fanning lightly over your skin.
You were lost for words and utterly obliterated. The ground felt like it was falling away from your feet, and yet you’d never been so attuned to being pressed up against a tree.
“Um-” you stammered. “I- well-”
“I could show you what it’s really like to get all hot and bothered,” Adaman said lowly, leaning closer so his hair tickled your neck and his lips were almost touching your ear. “If you’d let me.”
“Adaman-” you started, leaning away on something like instinct, but immediately, the clan leader leaned back. His arm went away from above you, he stepped away, and he just gave you a wink and a smirk before he calmly sauntered back to the campfire, leaving you in the middle of the camp, still up against the tree.
You huffed, ducking your head down, burying your head in your hands as you tried to get a handle on yourself.
What the hell was that?! Did I just imagine that? Adaman really just did that. In front of everyone.
“What a tease,” you grumbled to yourself. It was frustrating. Ridiculous.
You turned and scooped up some more firewood from the tree’s collection, grumbling all the way.
Upon putting the firewood down back at your campfire, conversation had returned to normal. Adaman was listening to Melli rant to him with a satisfied, almost bored expression on his face while the others chatted together.
However, when you sat down, Mai and Arezu looked at you with raised eyebrows.
You just looked at them. They looked at you.
Neither of them said anything before a slow smirk spread across Mai’s face. “Are you hot?” she asked innocently.
“No,” you said quickly.
“Your face indicates otherwise,” Arezu said, gesturing to you with a grin.
You huffed. “Don’t mention it.”
Your eyes found Adaman again several times throughout the night, and you couldn’t help but wonder…
Had he really meant what he said to you? And if he did, that begged the question:
Did Adaman feel the same about you as you felt about him?

Hello, lovelies!
I haven’t said anything on here for a few days, so a bit of an update- I’m currently working on four requests! Two Adaman x reader things and two Breath of the Wild requests. An Adaman x reader should be out sometime before next week (hopefully).
Thank you all for the continued love and support! I really appreciate the bunch of you. <3

Hi, thank you for answering my previous question I just have one more to ask. Do you mind if my request is a bit descriptive/long. I just want to ask before I send it in, as it's currently at the character limit and i've finished typing it out. I can shorten it if you'd like ! Thank you once more!
Of course not! If you want a request, feel free to elaborate a ton on it! I'm definitely not a mind reader about what you're thinking about, so make it as long as you want! 😊❤️

Hi! I have a quick question before I request, as I can see that requests are still open. I'm interested in requesting for breath of the wild. I'm just wondering if you're comfortable with writing the reader being non-human such as rito/zora/etc? (This could stand the same for the non-human characters such as revali/daruk/mipha/sidon/etc). If not I'll probably request for pokemon sw/sh or legends.
Hello! Thanks so much for the ask.
Absolutely, I am! I'm good with writing BOTW reader as any of those species and Hylian/human as well!
Thank you for asking! I really appreciate it ❤️😊

THIS MAN is so dumb sometimes.
For a guy who says he values time, who doesn’t want a moment wasted, Adaman sure takes his time to tease you with affection.
I’m gonna start off by saying this- this guy is COMFY. (Have you seen his clothes?? He'd be so good to hug or cuddle with) He is lively and steady with nice clothes that just make the experience all the better. No, he will never stop bragging to you after you tell him that the first time. You’ve inflated his ego way too much now.
I feel like there are two routes Adaman goes down when he wants cuddles.
He either just straight up asks “Can we cuddle?” or chooses the more common route, which is walking right up to you and plopping his head in your lap or just. Picking you up and taking you somewhere to lie down.
ALSO- for somebody who acts as he does, all smug smirks and rolling eyes, a big tease, Adaman sure does get incredibly clingy when the two of you finally settle down.
Adaman likes being the big spoon very much, no matter who’s bigger or taller, but if you offer to cuddle him, his face does the most interesting thing. It’s called panic. (He’ll usually accept, face burning the whole time.)
He also just likes when you lay on top of him. It’s like having a living, breathing blanket on top of him- warm and comforting- and it’s you, so of course he likes being close to you.
He cuddles in public too! Though it isn’t so much cuddling as it is you just sitting in his lap while he rests his head on your shoulder, arms gently wrapped around your stomach as he continues what he was doing calming. Especially in meetings with others, where everybody has to just pretend they don’t see it or else Adaman will go off.
In terms of falling asleep together, whether it’s sleepovers or naptime together, you always have to go and find him.
It’s not that Adaman dislikes naptime or falling asleep together. It’s just that he is indeed a man who feels guilty whenever he takes time to relax and also thinks he doesn’t really deserve it.
You’ve assured him time and time again- “Adaman, you deserve this. You are loveable. I love you.”
Most of the time, it falls to nighttime, and Adaman is nowhere to be seen. You’ll go searching through the Diamond Clan, asking around if anybody’s seen Adaman.
You always find him somehow everybody sees how happy he is with you and tells you no matter what and bust into wherever he is indignantly, making him and whomever he’s with jump half a foot in the air, before being like “Why are you not coming to bed with me already?? 🥺”
No matter your gender, he’s one to immediately fall to your puppy eyes, sigh, and bid whoever he’s with a goodnight before following your victorious form. He usually apologizes- “Darling, I’m sorry I was late.”
You just intertwine your hands and give him a small smooch on his cheek, which makes him lose whatever he was about to say.
When you finally settle down together, your Pokémon probably nearby, Adaman pulls you close and tucks your head under his chin, settling a hand on your waist as he inhales your smell, finally relaxing after the day.
Those moments, tender and alone, are the only times you see Adaman’s softest side, where he mutters quiet ‘I love you’s until both of you drift off in each other’s arms.
He’s a big softie underneath all the smugness I swear :’)

Tumblr media
You kneel down slowly, your hands on the ground as you try to catch your breath. You close your eyes, pushing past the pain that threatens to leave you immobile. Your lungs are burning, and burns and scratches litter your arms. None of them seem to be too deep, fortunately, but you know there would be cause for concern if they got infected.
Footsteps behind you jerk you out of your thoughts. You get to your feet quickly, wobbling a little bit as you’re hit with a head rush. You blink at the person approaching you, a smile growing on your face when you take in Adaman’s bright hair and concerned expression.
“How’d it go?” he asks, crossing his arms over his chest. His hair is tied up in his typical ponytail, and he’s wearing the vivid blue color of the Diamond Clan. Adaman takes a step closer, surveying the landscape before turning back to look at you.
“It went well,” you reply, taking a look behind you at the same landscape. The afternoon sunlight is warm on your skin, and you smile as a light breeze rustles your hair and clothes.
“And this is what you… normally do?” Adaman asks, his gaze flitting across your figure. You wince and shrug, not wanting to make a big deal of the injuries that seemed to cover your body.
“Well…” you break off, not having any idea of how to rationalize your decision. “I mean, it looks worse than it is.” For a moment, you think you have him fooled, but his eyebrows are furrowed and there’s a suspicious gleam in his eyes that you know isn’t just coincidence.
“When you said it involved balms, i did not imagine this,” Adaman’s eyebrows furrow, and his gaze is locked onto your left arm. You follow his gaze, wincing at the rather large burn that seems to tear through the skin on your arm. You poke at it, quickly regretting doing so when pain shoots through you.
“I may not be as advanced as you Survey Corps folk, but I can still patch you up,” Adaman says, tugging you by the arm. His tone leaves no room for questions, and so you follow his pull. He half drags, half leads you to the nearest camp. Everyone seems to have cleared out, but there’s still a fire burning bright near the center of the deserted camp. Adaman then steps in front of you, turns you around, and pushes you until you’re sitting down on the storage box. He kneels down. “Can I…?” he breaks off, gesturing to your burns. You nod, and he inspects them curiously.
“Sorry, I’m wasting your time,” you whisper, knowing how much Adaman values his time. Adaman’s head whips up from where he had been looking at your burns. He has an incredulous look on his face for a moment, which he quickly stifles into a mild expression.
“Time spent with you is never a waste,” he mutters, his eyebrows furrowed. You don’t have the luxury to ponder the meaning of that statement as your burns sting and ache. He reaches to grab something from his pouch, and pulls out a golden-brown salve. You swallow but don’t say anything, not wanting to reject his kindness. “This is going to hurt a bit,” Adaman mutters, tearing his gaze from your arms. You just nod at him, and he applies the salve to your arms. You just barely withhold a grimace at the oddly slimy sensation. The second he’s done applying the salve, you immediately speak.
“Alright, well, thank you,” you try to say, getting to your feet. Adaman puts his hands on your shoulders and pushes you to sit back down, rolling his eyes fondly.
“Nope, I’m not done with you yet,” he says, reaching into his pouch once more.  He pulls out a roll of bandages and gently wraps them around your wrists and forearms. His hands linger on your arms for a brief moment, before he pats the bandages gently and smiles. “Alright, now I’m done.”
“Alright,” you say, putting your hands on your knees and readying yourself for standing up again. You’re about to do so when Adaman interjects one more.  “Wait, I lied,” he grins mischievously, and your heart drops to your stomach. You sit down again, staring up at him. He looks as confident as ever, but his hands shake at his sides. You’re about to ask him about this sudden anxiety when you feel his hands caress your cheeks. Adaman leans close and kisses you on the forehead, before leaning back with a grin on his face.
“Okay, now I’m done,” Adaman says, and you roll your eyes. He moves to sit down next to you, wrapping an arm around your waist and tugging you closer. You relax into his hold, and together you watch the stars glimmer and shine in the night sky.

Safe With Me
Summary: After a wild Pokémon attacks you and your partner, Adaman comes to visit you when recovering and shows a different side than usual.
Word count: 3,296
Warnings: Descriptions of pain, mentions of injury and blood, minor swearing
Notes: This is my first time writing for Adaman, but it’s been a day and I’ve already fallen in love with this guy. I hope you enjoy!

You weren’t usually one to take many risks when out and about.
In this world, the region Hisui, survival was always a question with Pokémon. Sure, there was technology being developed that would surely aid everybody’s survival, and not all Pokemon were ready to attack at a moment’s notice, but the world out there was dangerous. It was a fact everyone had accepted.
However, what you were not planning on that day was to be out gathering supplies only to hear a shrill scream pierce the air.
Instantly, you were on guard. Pulling out your Pokéball from your satchel, you tossed it out with a cautious murmur, and your Luxio hopped out with a cooing noise.
“Shh,” you whispered to him cautiously. “There’s someone in trouble over there. Come on.”
He obliged with another noise of curiosity as you ran over.
When you arrived, your eyes widened. A girl wearing garb that looked like Jubilife’s usual wear was cowering before a huge Pokémon that you didn’t even recognize, with a big build and a hostile look to it.
“Luxio, use Wild Charge!” you ordered determinedly, running for the girl as your Pokémon engaged the larger Pokémon in combat.
You pulled the woman up with no particular gentleness, knowing time was of the essence. “Go! Run!” “What about you?” she exclaimed. “You can’t hope to fight that thing?”
“You’re right, but I have no choice. Go find help! The closest you can think of!” you ordered.
The girl, still shaking, looked behind you at the battle and nodded, running off as the ground rumbled behind you.
As you turned around, your hairs stood on end as your Luxio attacked, dodging the large Pokémon’s arm attack as it charged at him before unleashing his electric attack. You whooped with pride as he landed by you and you looked him over for any signs of injuries.
He looked fine. You were grateful for that.
“We’ve gotta keep going, boy,” you said. “You ready?”
He hissed at the Pokémon. You took that as enough of a sign and grinned.
“Okay, then. Luxio, use-”
But before you could finish the command, the Pokémon lunged at the two of you. You yelped and dove to the side, tucking into a roll as all of your martial training came rushing to your head at the moment.
Not now! You told yourself as you untucked from the roll and pushed yourself to your feet, looking back.
Your eyes widened. Luxio looked fine, but he was squaring off with the Pokémon defensively, teeth bared in a snarl as he waited for your command.
You coughed slightly, rubbing a sore spot on your ribs, but continued, commanding quicker than before. “Luxio, use Crunch!”
Immediately, your partner carried out the order, lunging for the Pokémon as darkness began to gather around it and formed into the shape of a tooth-filled mouth in front of him, chomping down on the Pokémon.
You didn’t know how strong this Pokémon was, but thought that now was as good a time as any to gauge how strong it was by throwing a Pokéball at it.
You fished through your sachet for just a moment before you found your hand closing around the familiar shape of a Pokéball- and when you pulled it out, it was empty. Good.
I should really take Mai’s advice on organizing my satchel, you thought.
“Luxio, watch out!”  You called, just before you threw the ball.
It soared through the air in a gracious arc- giving you the same rush of adrenaline that it always did- before it promptly hit the Pokémon square in the middle of their head, and you watched it get sucked into the Pokéball- how something so large could fit into something so small always astounded you- and the Pokéball fell to the ground with a very small thud.
You and Luxio stood there for a moment with a soft breath, not even thinking to run, praying silently that the fight would be over.
But no. Suddenly, energy expelled from the ball, and it split open- beams of light expelling for a moment before the Pokémon stood tall and true before you, expression giving only one emotion: pissed off.
“Oh, shi-”
The Pokémon lunged immediately, giving you no time to respond. Luxio was faster and smaller, but you were a human who was still trying to think of their next move.
Maybe the Pokémon knew that as it bowled straight into you.
You went flying. Not much sound left your lips- a brief shriek- before you flew across the terrain and hit a tree. Hard.
The breath left your lips in a silent oof, the wind knocked out of you, completely breathless.
Luxio squeaked in the distance, and all you could think of was the fiery pain in your back. I don’t think my spine was broken, but damn, that hurt.
You groaned, rolling onto your side as your partner ran to you, sniffing your face concernedly.
“I-I’m fine, buddy…” you forced out, voice strained through the pain. “Keep going… I just need a moment.”
Luxio didn’t look convinced, butting his head gently against your arm.
“Luxio,” you said sternly, though your voice was growing weaker by the moment. “Use-” Your eyes widened, and suddenly you grabbed your Pokémon, rolling to put yourself in his place.
A claw slashed across your arm as you held it up to shield your face, slicing through your clothing and scraping against it, making you scream in pain.
Shit! You thought. This is bad. This is really bad. I don’t know what to do. I can’t run- I’m too hurt- but Luxio isn’t going to want to leave me. I could die.
Where’s the help? How far away were we from people?
Suddenly, you heard a distant yell, somebody calling out. You lifted your head weakly and immediately hissed.
You were bleeding. Badly.
“Over here!” you called weakly. Almost directly above you, the large Pokémon seemed to be considering whether or not to attack you and finish you off or run away.
Luxio made the decision for them- lunging with a battle-worthy noise, he used Wild Charge again, shocking the Pokémon as the sound of distant footsteps- a lot of them- grew closer.
The Pokémon backed off slightly as Luxio landed in front of you protectively.
Just before you passed out, you heard somebody enter the area and whisper “Holy crap…” before you lost the last of your energy and everything went dark.
-
When you woke, you had no idea where you were.
Lying in a futon bed, you winced at the feeling of a headache building in your head. The covers were neatly pulled to your upper chest, while your two arms were over the covers.
Your left arm- the injured one- was wrapped with bandages from your fingers up the shirt you wore- which, again, wasn’t your normal one.
You raised an eyebrow as you cast a glance around the room. You attempted to sit up, but lightning immediately shot up your spine, and, with a whimper, you laid back down, opting, for the moment, to remain still.
As you studied your surroundings the best you could while lying down, you realized you weren’t in the Diamond Clan’s infirmary. This was a place with warmer shades- Jubilife Village.
You swallowed, licking your lips. They must have brought me here after the fight. I heard they had really good medics. Must be true. I can’t even feel my arm.
That was, you thought, a bit more worrying than relieving, but you supposed it was better than feeling the wounds on your arm.
When you were just getting ready to start shouting for somebody to come and explain what was going on, a woman entered the room. When she met your eyes, her own widened, and she grinned.
“You’ve finally woken up! Thank goodness! We were starting to get quite nervous about you, you know.” she said, approaching your bedside.
“Where am I?” you asked immediately, disregarding any chivalry. You wanted answers and wanted to know you weren’t completely alone.
Where’s my clan? Where’s…
The name you so wished to call out for died on your tongue from embarrassment, but the thought burned into your mind.
“You’re in the infirmary of Jubilife Village- more specifically, Galaxy Team’s headquarters. You were brought here after the Pokémon attack.”
You relaxed slightly at that. “Does my clan know what happened?’
The woman nodded, looking somewhat nervous. “Yes, they do. In fact, several of them were quite… loud about their intent on seeing you. A few of them are outside the headquarters waiting to hear about you. We’ve been having to… keep them out, to put it delicately.”
Your eyes widened, fairly sure who exactly the woman was talking about. “Well, can we let them in?”
“Of course, we just need to check you over quickly to make sure you’re well enough to be receiving visitors-”
Outside the closed infirmary door, there was a very loud and prompt crack, followed by the sound of two doors thudding to the ground. The doctor jumped several inches in the air, while you flinched, eyes darting to the door with wide eyes. What in the living…
However, a very familiar voice suddenly reached your ears distantly through the wood, “Let me through! I need to see them now!”
“Calm down-” somebody else said, but that was followed by a very loud wham against the wall and a garbled yelp.
Suddenly, the door slammed open with vengeance.
Standing in the doorway was the one and only Adaman.
Your eyes locked, and, through the stormy expression the clan leader held on his face, relief broke over his expression. Behind him, Mai and Arezu stood, looking over his shoulder concernedly at you.
The doctor moved back quickly as Adaman rushed forward to your bedside, looking a mix of furious and relieved. You’d never seen him like this before- Adaman was a confident person around you ninety-nine percent of the time- smirk on his face as he backed you up against a tree, flirting relentlessly before backing up and moving away as if nothing had ever happened.
He infuriated you and made you smile all at once. You didn’t get him.
But this? This was a little concerning.
“Sorry about him,” Mai apologized to the doctor. You noted two members of the Galaxy Team in the doorway of the infirmary, watching Adaman worriedly like they were afraid he was going to combust.
Your attention was dragged from them to your friends, who it felt like a lifetime since you’d last seen.
“Hi,” you started sheepishly.
Arezu broke the softest of smiles, chuckling slightly, while Mai sighed in annoyance. “That’s all you have to say? ‘Hi’?” She said disapprovingly, which only made Arezu chuckle harder.
Adaman, however, said nothing, instead studying you with a closeness that was so unlike him it was worrying.
“Adaman?” you pushed quietly. He blinked out of it, locking onto your eyes with his own.
He’s so damn pretty, you thought breathlessly, swallowing.
“Uh…” Arezu said. “We’ll leave you two alone for a moment.” She seized onto Mai’s hand and, before you could object, the two of them left the room, the doctor following cautiously.
When the door closed, Adaman breathed out, long and slow, before he spoke in a voice that was so soft, you thought someone else was speaking for a moment.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“What are you- yeah, I think I’m fine. I’m probably gonna have a big-ass bruise across my back for a while, and maybe some cool scars on my arm, but I’m-”
“No, no,” Adaman cut you off quickly, rubbing a hand across his face. His hair shook slightly as he laid a hand just below your right hand. “You don’t… get it, how could you just say you’re okay when-” He cut himself off.
His voice was shaking. You’d never heard that before. You studied Adaman with worry, confused, a little startled.
“Adaman, I know you might’ve been worried, but I promise you, I’m okay. Or, I’m going to be.”
“You could’ve died.”
The statement took you off-guard a little- not because of the actual words, but because of the way Adaman said it. His voice was low, shaking slightly, his hand beneath yours bunching up the bed beneath it in his fist.
“Don’t you get that? You were so hurt… I thought you were going to die. You were out for two days straight.”
Two days? Jeez, I really was knocked out.
“Adaman… I…”
“Shit!” Your leader shot to his feet, knocking a fist against his head gently as the other ran through and gripped at his hair. He turned his back to you, breathing heavily. “Why are you so dumb sometimes?! You keep acting like this isn’t a big deal, but look at you!” Adaman spun around, and you blinked, startled, at the look in his eyes. Desperation, worry, several other emotions were painted all over your leader’s face- all emotions you’d never seen him have before.
“You’re bedridden from those injuries, from getting thrown against a tree and slashed by claws, but you say you’re fine? You-” Adaman scoffed in disbelief. “You say you might be left with a big bruise and a few scars. Scars! That Pokémon hurt you enough to scar you! And you’re acting like it’s all perfectly fine, that it’s okay, even though for the last two days, I’ve been waiting with bated breath to hear that you finally woke up well and safe, wondering if I would ever hear your voice again-”
You reached out with your good arm and touched Adaman’s hand.
In the middle of his rant, the leader stopped dead and looked down, frozen, at your hand that brushed two fingers against the back of his hand.
“Adaman,” you said softly. “You were really that worried about me?”
Adaman’s facade crumbled. The anger fell away into the most emotional face you’d ever seen on your leader, and, kneeling by your bedside, he took your hand in his own and pressed it to his forehead gently.
“Of course I was. Why wouldn’t I be worried for you?” he said quietly, looking over at you.
“I… don’t know. You always seem unaffected by this kind of stuff. Like nothing really bugs you.”
“Even leaders feel things,” he said quietly. “I… feel things for you sometimes. Even if I don’t want to. The face I’ve worked so hard to build crumbles when I’m around you.”
You blinked at him surprised. “You… what?”
“I… like you,” he said. “I think I have for a while now. Sometimes it’s hard to get the words out that you mean the most.”
“You mean all that flirting has been actual flirting?” you asked.
“As opposed to… fake flirting.” Adaman said slowly, sounding a little more hopeful.
“No, I just- I didn’t know if that was just you or if you were- you know. Flirting.”
“Oh.” Adaman said softly, then chuckled a little. “Oh, love, I should’ve been more clear with that, huh?”
Your face warmed at the nickname, and you gently squeezed at Adaman’s hand, more flustered than you intended on letting on. This is actually happening. He likes me. Like- actually likes me. A crush.
Holy shit, Adaman of all people has a crush on me.
“Are you… okay?” he ventured carefully, beginning to release your hand. “Listen, my emotions kind of got the best of me. If you don’t feel the same, that’s fine-”
“Adaman,” you said sternly, looking at him with a raised eyebrow. “Would you stop? I know you like things to go quickly, but don’t run off like this.”
He paused, and you pulled him closer slightly with his hand and squeezed his hand slightly.
“I like you, too.” You said with a small smile, looking up at him. “I thought I was an idiot for doing that, because you never really seemed to care, but… I really like you, Adaman. A lot.”
The smile that spread across his face was so genuine, you thought he might burst with the expression. You’d never seen such a softly joyful look on his face before.
Moments later, it faded into a smug smirk. “Well, now that you’ve opened the way, you’re stuck with me now, you know that?” He brought your hand to his lips and trailed them gently across the back of your hand, sending shivers up and down your spine. Warmth built in your face as you met his eyes, which were watching your reaction carefully.
“Don’t be an ass,” you choked out, flustered.
He chuckled. “Sure, sure. I’ll hold back for now.” A gentle kiss was pressed against your hand before he let go of your hand, standing up to lean over you, lips so close to yours you could feel his breath on your lips.
“Hm…” he said. “Unfortunately, I promised to hold back, so I’m afraid-”
“Oh, you little shit, just kiss me,” you demanded with a small grin.
The smirk that spread over his face was worth every ache of pain on your body. “If you insist.”
He leaned over and kissed you, and you tilted your head slightly to slot your lips better with his, like some kind of puzzle piece. It felt like electricity was fizzing across every part of your skin, alight and terrifying and perfect.
When the two of you broke the kiss, Adaman leaned his forehead against yours with a small “Hm.” as he looked into your eyes.
“What?” you asked confusedly.
“Nothing,” he said as he leaned back to a full standing position. “Your lips feel as good as I thought they would.”
You huffed, turning your face away. “Flatterer.”
“Oh, I mean it.” he said with a small chuckle.
Suddenly, the door opened. Mai, Arezu, and Commander Kamado stood in the doorway, Kamado looking pissed.
“Adaman,” Kamado started. “You destroyed my doors.”
Adaman’s face got the familiar oh shit look that all humanity had on their face at some point in their lives as he slowly turned to face Kamado.
“Apologies for that. They wouldn’t let me-”
“I don’t want to hear it right now. I expect you to help reconstruct.”
Adaman sighed embarrassedly. “Yes, sir.”
“Good.” Kamado looked over at you. “I’m glad to see you’re well. I’ll let you all back to your business for now. That is all.” He left.
Arezu looked between Adaman and you and grinned. “Oh my god, did it finally happen?”
Adaman got his old defensive look on his face. “Did what happen, exactly?”
“Oh come on, you two are pretty transparent around each other.” Mai said, a smile on her face as well. “Did you-”
“Oh, my god,” you groaned, throwing your head back so you didn’t have to look at your friends. “When did you two get so nosy?”
“Ever since Adaman backed you against a tree and flirted with you in front of half the clan,” Arezu said with a laugh. “I mean- it was pretty obvious right then and there.”
Adaman sighed. “I suppose there’ll be no hiding it from you two, eh?”
“Nope.” Mai proclaimed.
“You win,” you sighed with a smile. “We’re never going to stop getting teased now.”
“Actually, Mai owes me money. She thought there would be a heartfelt confession after you got out of the infirmary, but I said Adaman was too impatient.”
Adaman sputtered. “You- I’m sorry?! I am not too-”
You leaned back with a smile, watching your friend group get into another intense argument that would probably eventually lead back to Pokémon. At some point, Adaman’s hand found its way back to yours, and squeezed gently while easily continuing the conversation.
Despite your injuries, you couldn’t stop smiling.

Tell me if you’d like to be added to the Adaman taglist! I love writing for him already.
