One piece the 10th person
Posting this out in case it actually came true XD
so on “the tenth person” topic
I honestly think it is either no one, if Oda is not that stubborn and is fine with the “I would like to have 10 nakama” being a vague number of people (which i think he totally should drop the obsessiveness on numbers)
or, the tenth person is Trafalgar Law
Before anyone diss me with “Law has his own crew” “He will never agree to be under Luffy” etc
I actually read a lot of those comments and YES, I agree with you!!
However, I just can’t see anyone else being the 10th person
Simply because how the way the story has been written.
It has nothing to do with the design rules that Oda is following
In all honesty, if I am Oda, I probably would use that to trick the readers into thinking someone else being the 10th person
Like I give you this and make you think i am following this rule, but I actually am following another rule.
If you get what I mean.
For me, from a story stand point, any one joining the group after the time skip has to be impressive and essential enough that the readers wont feel like the addition is just because Oda wants 10 people.
Because they don’t have the time benefit Brook and Franky has to warm up with readers.
Both Jinbei and the 10th person has to have the potential to make a multiplying upgrade to the group, create another dynamic, not just an addition
The straw hats after the time skip, is a really stable group, you are not going to get another Usopp and Luffy conflict again from them. But conflicts are what makes the story interesting. The additional members are the ones that have the potential to create inner conflict.
And with the crash, the straw hats can evolve.
So for me, Carrot and Yamato are just not enough. If they are to join the crew, they will just be another brook or franky, following along. Nothings going to change aside from adding more battle Oda has to think of.
But both Jinbei and Law has experience. Jinbei has connection, and Law has strategy. These are things that can make a massive upgrade to the group. And they both have their own opinion, and Law has tons of potential danger after him, so there is possibility for conflicts.
Now back to the comment that “Law has his own crew, he wont abandon them” and also back to the “you think I am following A rule, but I am actually following B rule”
My second thought is, maybe “the X person” does not equal a crew member
It is just up to this point that they happen to overlap
Like…Oda never said what is the definition of the X person, right?
So my guess is: Law is the tenth person, but will not be a straw hat crew member
In that sense, it does not matter if him being a doctor overlaps with Chopper
He’s also not abandoning his crew, him teaming up with straw hats is just a temporary solution for his situation
He is also not under Luffy, he’s just there to help
and in terms of the symmetry rule, he can be parallel to Robin
( Robin wearing a spotted shirt in this group shot?? hmmm?? (eyebrow twitch))
and also
I have no proof for this, but i think Law would be a good correspondence to Aokiji from Blackbeard Pirate
They are both part of the group but also not really part of the group
they also do not really need to fight, they can just be talking shit while the others are fighting their own battle
after all, they did have a similar comment about perspective (There is some scenery you cannot see without changing perspective)
If you read to this point, thank you and you are welcome to diss me now
#one piece#10th person#for my own record#I have had this thought for a long while just never posted#cause people tend to get really heated when Law being the 10th person got brought up#those people are not on tumblr btw#and im just like...it can be both you know???#my guess is: Law is the tenth person but will not be a straw hat crew member#i might be wrong though

now that I finally have my own copy of Tatoeba Ima, having heard it for the first time, it’s time to analyze the shit out of that song ovo
just focusing on the lyrics, my opinion of the cover’s already noted here but I’d like to add that the cd itself is blue with an airplane on it. blue is usually a given choice for tezufuji. and the airplane comes from tezuka being far far away
lyrics were kindly provided by 0218lm in this post

#tezufuji#prince of tennis#lyric translation#been looking for a full translation thank you m(_ _)m#its crazy i shipped them like 15 years ago#and stopped watching#for some reason nostalgia kicked in so i went back to watch it agaoin#only to realize they are pretty much married (cough)#or you can read it as BFF#either works

tezuka in fuji-echizen match
—a meta/hc/fanfic/shtpost investigation by me.—
timeline: before kantou regionals (inter-high) and after rokkaku matches
Tezuka knew that whatever the outcome of yuuta/ryoma match wass, fuji might get interested…
because, most probably, fuji didn’t care that much about echizen/team/seigaku at the beginning or at all, even with all his genius tennis.
and if yuuta lost to echizen, tezi predicted that fuji would want to fight echizen anytime soon because tezi is aware of the “fuji hitlist” too.
anyway tezi predicted fuji correctly and arranged for echizen and fuji to have a practice match with each other..
..which was also good move in order to dissipate tensions that would develop between echizen and fuji in the future.
Anyway it must have been a Dream Match for tezi (and for everybody tbh)
Tezi probably spent days daydreaming about the outcome. excited as fuck because ofc it is the match between his most-reliable-in-getting-victories-teammate vs unknown-new-typhoon-teammate.
tezuka must have expected that fuji would
use this match to know echizen better as a senpai
mow down echizen swiftly and teach echizen his place
show echizen that there are other strong players other than his father similar to what tezi did when he fought against echizen near the train tracks
using echizen, tezuka might have also
wanted to see what fuji’s other moves are
wanted to see what he can do other than the triple counters
wanted to draw fuji out as much as he believes he can before seigaku faces the really strong opponents in the prefecturals
tezuka didnt expect fuji to
perform QA/endurance test on one of his special attacks
use echizen to do it. because the boy is just very good at making sht up
allow the match go on for too long they were the first to start so they should’ve been the first ones to end
not go all out. why would fuji go all out tho. so far echizen is still mada mada. fuji himself said so “It’s too early for you to beat me”
Of course in that match echizen showed signs of awesome development and gave us better insight of his being innovative and a quick thinker in tennis.
However, even though the match resulted in good learning experience for both echizen and fuji,
in the end..the match didn’t go the way how tezuka wanted.

- Summer Daze -
My first and ironically last post of 2018. Lots of things went in an unexpected direction this year. I had possibly the worst summer of my life, yet there are some key moments that I will cherish forever, each being represented here as a small blender animation. Despite everything, for the first time since years I can genuinly say that I’m still in a really good place right now.
I hope 2019 has great things in store for all of you!

Kenshin new and old Opening1
This is not dissing, its just that I find the direction they both went with was quite interesting
youtube
Old version op wasn’t trying to emphasize that Kenshin used to be a killer It is also not heavily Kenshin oriented it takes there time to introduce characters
and the last scene was Kenshin heading "home"... the new home that has his friend and Kaoru andandand this is me as an animator .... that weapon sanosuke ?(forgive me it has been so long i forgot his name) is wielding, the animation nailed the HEAVY feeling Also kenshin's sword fighting style feels.... like a real one that can happen in real life (but of course thats just in the OP)
youtube
the new version is heavily Kenshin oriented, other people are just....there but they definitely made it look obvious that Kaoru is a light to him
they put emphasis on the two parts of Kenshin differentiated with the type of sword that he's using (and showed in the background) which is neat
the sword fighting style emphasized more on his speed and agility and this might be me reading too much into it but near the end where Kenshin is heading to the house,,, he doesn’t walk in but turned back to look as much as it can be just an anime trope to look cool (LOL) it can also imply something? like he wont step into that house because of his past?
(the rest has spoiler and is totally just my thoughts :) )
I kind of liked that the old one did not emphasize much on kenshin being a killer as a first opening (albeit not intentional) cause the whole story started with knowing the fact but finding it hard to associate him as a killer and as the story progressed we gradually realized how much of the past...affected him
Like if I were to design the series opening op1 would be the present him more (and a smear of his past) op2 assuming it will be the kyoto arc, I would do what this opening is doing, with his present and past coming back and forth op3 would be heavily the past for the later arc (with a bit of present that can be... snatched away)
butbutbut I like that this new opening didn’t let him totally head into the house, cause he is not fully there yet at this stage, not until later in the story when kaoru tells him "welcome home".
Anyhow, the new Kenshin looks promising but i need to finish my assignments first before I can enjoy the remake

im not the one who replied but i accidentally got seriously analytical about 1063, and wrote too much to reply lmao, so reblog it is
1. from a medical standpoint, unbalanced hormone can cause some opposite gender trait, and some do qualify it as disease based on how it influenced their life (ie: Gynecomastia). A lot of disease are actually just a way too irregular state of what one's body normally should be doing. Gender swap is an exaggeration of course.. and if Doc Q “used virus” to cause this unwanted effect, then i would certainly qualify it as a disease. ( not that i’ve heard of this kind of virus in real life though)
2. Here, the gender swapping is more about making people feel disoriented and also Doc Q does seem like a character that will do this for fun, rather than making one weak. The point is getting them to surface out of the water, disease that will accidentally kill Law off doesn't serve their purpose here, they dont know where he stored his poneglyph yet.
3.Law isn't totally bothered by it, but with sudden change of body proportion, it will affect one's way of fighting, and will need time to get used to it. Law had no choice when he lost his arm, but here he has so its better to swap back fast. also this post made me know better why oda is doing this aside from fanservice reason, and it actually made it quite interesting
hope that helps you enjoy it? but if not its ok.
How I got the idea? Because Doc Q actually explained it
His Devilfruit is the Sick-Sick-Fruit, meaning it creates Diseases. If it were meant as funny twist, why not call it the, I don't know, "Waifu-Sickness" to play with the trope of women being useless in Shonen-Anime, and have Law continue as if nothing changed? Also, as soon as Law reverts back to being male, it's called being "cured" , so how else am I supposed to read this?
I don't know what Bonney and Kuma have to do with this, or Vegapunk, I myself feel weird with that very scene in which Law is "attacked" by someone who can invent plagues and diseases, and the thing he infects people with is...woman. Instead of literally anything ...harmful. What was that supposed to accomplish? As I said in my original post, Law himself switches people's minds and bodies around, and in his case, it makes sense, it renders his enemys mostly confused or even helpless since they're stuck in unfamiliar bodies with weird powers they don't know how to control.
This though? Law fought without his right arm, a pair of boobs wouldn't have hindered him.
I love switching around genders being treated as no big deal. However, here it's clearly treated as a disease, and that's the difference between this, and, say, any scene with Ivankov or Mr 2.
#one piece#spoiler#one piece chapter 1063#reply#trafalgar law#I also questioned it when i first saw it#and felt guilty a bit to enjoy female law lmao#but then from character point#doc q probably is jerk who would do it for fun#we are too concious about how oda are going about things#since it does reflect his view point to some degree#but maybe we should be asking if it is a thing that this character would do under this situation#its still 80% fanservice though

My Hero Academia Season 5 EP01-06 afterthought
Although I do think I should save my comment for later, after ep 08 is out
But since I binge watched 02-07, I find it hard to hold back XD <welp I’ll just leave 07 out then.>
OBVIOUSLY all the budget went into the fighting and I’m really thrilled with their battle scene. They have good balance between still and animated images. And the location they are fighting in makes me wonder if BONES will come up with an attack on titan scene, I’m so looking forward to it. I mean if I am Yutaka Nakamura I definitely would try something here XD There’s so much potential in this location.
Battle 1 is really exciting, mostly because of Shinso.
Not just because he looks good (fangirl lol). Also his brainwash ability to go beyond and mess with the opponents communication is really well done.
Composition of some main attack is really good. Best one is this.
Just the composition and the strong black green contrast makes it look really powerful. The curves makes it look elegant at the same time.
This also makes me think that B class didn’t use her ability to their full potential. They could have just stayed in a long distance and have her drag the A class members one by one, there’s enough time and force to do it. But yea, they need to establish Shinso.
I like this scene, I just hope the background construction could be one story lower, so that Froggy’s silhouette could be more clear. BTW why are they adding all this sound effect text XD?? It’s also funny because the comic guy that comes in later just spit out Japanese sound effect text XDD
This one is great too, and the back ground isn’t too much in comparison to the previous one. Also, this reminded me that, when the Nomu showed up in the last ep of season 4 (vs Endeavor), and TALKED, the first thought that i had was, “ OH GREAT we can just get Shinso here now that they could talk.” XD
Battle2 is a 2 VS 4 situation lol.
And the best scene for me isn’t even the battle scene LOL
The first time I saw this scene I feel like there’s a beauty filter lol.
This scene has a great aura to it, it really does give you the boss behind the scene feel to it.
Battle content part, I’m just amused that it NEVER crossed their mind that those mushroom may have the ability to spread poison substance. Which was actually my first thought when the mushroom popped up, but nope! They were just busy getting them off, and it later on turned out to be the main factor for B class to win.
Kinoko : victory~
-----------below are things that I think didn’t work for me--------------
I find the part where Hawks is going through his memory of the situation in ep 02 really confusing. If I didn’t know before hand I would not have understand what’s going on. Why did Dabi just showed up? Why are you suddenly going through these memories? And why did Hawks suddenly become the narrator!?
I think it’s mixed with too much cut between different memories that makes it confusing, which include mixing up with Endeavor’s memory and having memory in a memory (??). It’s also because they just jumped right into it in ep02 without much set up that it feels really abrupt. Now that I think of it, this episode really feels out of place without setup? Like the other ep always spend a bit too much time reminding us what happened in the previous episode, and ep 02 has none of it? That’s so weird. Did I miss something?
Through out the whole MHA, I’ve always found that Midoriya is doing way too much narrating when the anime is actually selling successfully through image. I understand its telling story through a autobiography form, hence the talking, but a lot of them could have been cut down. For instance, in Ep02 where he talks about his dream of one for all. That whole section could have been done with a first person perspective with less dialogue, and end abruptly with him waking up. All his feeling and thoughts could have been said later. I know ep02 is their low budget episode, but still.

the colors you use in your work are always so vibrant and beautiful!! is there any method to the madness (as it were) or do you just kinda go for it? do you have any tips? (i esp loooove how you color skin)
i already have a few tutorials on how i choose colours! They’re in the tag “#my tutorials”. I can talk about skin though!
Tbh i dont think i’ve ever seen skin coloured wrong? I’m biased though, cause i always colour the skin first, so in my opinion its every OTHER colour that’s fucking up the composition lmao
the key to skin is it’s translucency. Skin and skin-coloured cloth look different because skin has blood vessels and fat and muscles underneath. You can see that stuff underneath! Different parts of the body can look a bit reddish or blueish or yellowish. Here’s a guide i like:
