Calling it done! Started this Prowler during the summer of 2017 and worked it off and on since then. One of the most difficult kits I’ve completed. Not perfect, but good enough!

Scale model outtakes. This can be an incredibly frustrating hobby that requires tons of patience. Emailed Kinetic to request replacement parts. If I had any sense I’d of requested the parts when I bought the kit!

Coming out of turn 4 on this one. It’s about time. Still plenty left to do though.

After a long summer off from the bench. I’ve managed to finish the main color scheme and get this thing standing on its own legs.

Much of the fuselage, wings, and horizontal stab have some base paint, but still much to do. Canopy on the EA-6B is always a bitch, but is masked and ready for some paint on the framework.

Trying the “black basing” technique for a pre-shade over the standard panel line highlighting.

I’ve spent the last several days since finishing the P-3 working on the EA-6B Prowler kit I started back last summer. Considerable filling and sanding being done on the fuselage seams and definitely on the wing roots which I read ahead of time were a problem with this kit. It’s a process.

Most of the airframe is assembled and cockpit is installed. The wings aren’t glued on yet as they will be painted separately since they will be easier to paint this way with the paint scheme this aircraft will be in. So far, aside from the propellers, the most time has been spent assembling and sanding the engine nacelles. Still more sanding and filling to be done before any paint goes on.

After a long hiatus, I’m cutting my teeth into a new build. The EA-6B is still in WIP, but will do a P-3C Orion in between as re-familiarization. I haven’t actually produced anything since July of 2017.

Cockpit locked in between the two fuselage halves. Still not much to look at.

New project: EA-6B Prowler cockpit still work in process, but a good portion completed. Using aftermarket Aires resin and photo etch parts for cockpit, wingfold, and ICAP-III kits.

Finished the SBD-2 Dauntless. I often take time off, even in the middle of a project, from working on scale models. This guy was a victim of that but finished it the other day anyway. It came out really well in my opinion. First WW2 era aircraft with considerable dirt and paint chipping. However I forgot to weather the prop, but oh well! Pretend it’s a new prop on a used plane. My first time using ez line for the aerial as well which I like very much.

A couple of months in the making; my F-4B Phantom II of VF-111 Sundowners in 1/48. A very good kit. Probably the most decals I’ve ever had to put on a model, but completely worth it in the end. Very happy with outcome of this guy. I’ll take another break and mull over what I want to do next...
