Laurie Castellini: Bassist

Moving to the U.S at 13, life in the cold small state of Rhode Island for Laurie Castellini was very different from life in the warm, bright, country of Italy. But living in a more diverse area opened doors for them to discover themselves and find different ways to express themselves. They discovered different gender identities, sexualities, and romantic orientations. They knew for a while they never felt like they fit into any of the binary sexes. Finding out about Non-Binary, helped them finally find a label that fit them that wasn't so strict. Laurie's family has always been supportive of whatever they wanted to do or become, so when they came out to them they were understanding, but still got confused at times. In high school, they joined the school's drama club and took on acting which they absolutely loved and wanted to do for a living. They liked acting in musicals more than plays and found that they were only comfortable singing live if they were acting. They got into Northeastern and moved to Boston, majoring in Theatre. This is where they met Maureen and when they started playing bass as a hobby. Maureen then invited Laurie to join The Dreaming Arcs as their bassist. They love vintage and owns a lot of it from the early 1900s, but because it's so fragile, they do 't wear much of it out. They have many styles, feminine and masculine or in between. It's fun for them to switch a lot. After being introduced to The Beatles by Ariel, they fell in love with John Lennon's songwriting and he's one of their main inspirations. Besides him, they're also heavily inspired by Mitski, Clairo, and Julie. They hope to get to learn more instruments and to get a career in broadway eventually.

Fun fact about Maureen: She's the only member of The Dreaming Arcs who isn't a fan of The Beatles, but she is a big fan of Pattie Boyd's and Linda McCartney's photographs!

i'm algerian and i've lived in france a good chunk of my life and there is no way that an algerian-french girl is named Maureen Joan both these names have nothing french OR arabic about them !! a french person wouldn't rven pronounce Joan that well

I forgot to mention that's sort of like her stage name/preferred name (like how my legal name is in chinese, but i don't go by it in public!) so its not her legal/actual name!! Im pretty sure joan is french (like joan/jeanne of arc) or is like the equivalent to jeanne so i sort of took inspo from that but correct me if im wrong :) maureen came to mind because of maureen starkey tigrett who i absolutely adore and i like the name a lot in general! Sorry for the confusion!

Maureen Joan: Rhythm Guitarist

Having been born in France to an Arab mother and French father, Maureen Joan's family moved to New York City when Maureen was 10. Living with an immigrant family in a progressive area that was lively with music, was never easy for Maureen. On one hand she wanted to become a musician, perform on stage with a band, while on the other hand, her family wanted her to attend a good college and become a lawyer or doctor. They made a compromise that she could pursue a career in music if she still attended a proper college, so she did just that. She got into Northeastern, majoring in composition. Maureen grew up listening to jazz artists like Chet Baker, Harry James, and Billie Holiday. She got inspired to learn the trumpet and started playing in middle school. In high school she started writing and composing her own songs, learning chords on guitar to help her. She considers leaving for Boston one of the best decisions of her life. It’s where she met her closest friends and girlfriend, Juliet Carys.

Edit: Maureen Joan isn't her legal name! It's just a stage name like how Ringo goes by "Ringo Starr" and not "Richard Starkey!!"

Henry Juniper: Pianist

Having grown up playing piano since the age of 4 under his grandma in the outskirts of Vermont, Henry ended up taking on music more seriously in high school and chose to also learn the Cello. He moved to Boston to join the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) as a pianist and cellist after attending Berklee and majoring in Professional Music. There he met his boyfriend, Ariel. Him and the Dreaming Arcs' drummer, Milo, were childhood friends and stayed friends through college, together joining the BSO. He's always been into classical music and not really experimental with his interests and style, but after meeting Ariel, he's been willing to try more things and discovered more artists and pianists like Laufey, Elton John, Billy Joel, and even Nirvana and The Beatles. He's been trying to get into Hozier too. Henry really likes Paul McCartney now and named his pet Rosy Boa Paulie after him. Despite his band members' efforts to try and get him to get more piercings, tattoos, and jewelry (especially rings), Henry wants to keep his hands protected and bare to not get in the way of his piano playing. He does hope to try and express his interests more through his looks and thinks his friends are the perfect people to help him with that.

Ariel Hoffman: Lead Guitarist

Introducing Ariel!

Originally from Boston, MA, Ariel's always dreamed of working in the music industry. His dreams came true when he got to attend Berklee at 18 where he majored in Music Production. He grew up listening to artists like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, AC/DC, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and the Grateful Dead. Ariel later started listening to Nirvana, Black Sabbath, and The Smiths in high school. He's always looked up to Bob Dylan and hopes he could write lyrics as good as Bob Dylan someday. Ariel's big on self expression, loving tattoos, jewelry, piercings, and pins or keychains. He loves vintage clothing and the 60s/70s style. Sometimes he dresses and walks like Bob Dylan (can you tell he really likes Bob Dylan) He is the band's main producer and songwriter and he's dating the band's pianist, Henry Juniper. Now 23, Ariel's learned how to play many instruments besides guitar such as bass, drums, and piano. He hopes to learn more instruments to improve his musicianship and to make more connections in the music industry!
