Quick update for you all.
After a battle of words in the comments with the admin, I left the fb group.
She had deleted the post herself. The person I was replying to had seen my comment and posted that she was not offended.
It was an honest review/opinion and apparently that is “mean-spirited” and “nitpicking” according to the admin. 😆
I have seen those admins allow far worse, including tearing down and destroying people due to their sexual orientation etc. But I’m not allowed to post a review.
I have been warned multiple times over the years so it’s not really a surprise. I’m glad I stood my ground though. And I’m glad I left before being kicked out. That bitch can suck on her rainbows and sunshine comments all she wants.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

I recently commented on a FB post in one of the CTM groups. The post was advertising an unofficial podcast for the show about three “super fans” doing a rewatch.I was excited and began listening this weekend.
I could not make it 10 minutes. I had to turn it off. In my comment, I gave an honest and respectful review. Guess what! It was deleted and I was tagged for breaking the rules of the group.
I have since messaged an admin expressing how wrong this was. No different than disagreeing with someone about an episode or character.
What did I comment? I wish I had copied it but here’s about what I wrote: (I was relying to someone asking if it was a podcast)
“Yes, it’s a podcast. I have to be honest, I was disappointed. I listened this weekend and couldn’t make it 10 minutes. I don’t want to be disrespectful to the women who do this, but they didn’t know the names of characters and their commentary seemed very insensitive for the issues for the time period. After all, it is based on real life events. I appreciate them putting this together, but I didn’t like it”
That’s not exactly what I wrote. I feel that it was even more respectful than that. Either way, it was honest.
I was going to give a break down but no. Here’s a rant instead:
Don’t say you’re a “super fan”! That’s misleading. You don’t even know characters or actors names! Don’t make fun of how difficult the times were. These were real people. They couldn’t just replace their mattress after a birth. (Mind you this is the first episode they are reviewing. 1957 so it was very bad situations compared to how things have become)
And leave Sister Monica Joan alone!! She’s not a selfish bitch! WTH?!
Do your research! Take time to understand the true meaning of this show. I believe a podcast like that should have much more meaning than poking fun. I guess my brain in wired a different way when it comes to critiquing movies and television since I was studied film.
I have watched every episode multiple times. I just did a second watch of this last season. I’ve watched as many docs as I can, plus been a part of this community for a while. I feel everything I have come to understand either they didn’t try or if just went over their heads.
I have so much respect for Heidi and all of the research they all do for this show.
I think the show deserves a podcast that brings something like that to light in each episode. Information about the times and links to the books for the earlier seasons. General knowledge at least about the people you speak of.
Who’s willing to do that?! Haha

I have had this sitting in my drafts since I wrote it. I believe back during season 10. I think we all had an idea that it was going to end up where it did, but this was my pre them being a couple post.
Just yesterday I was thinking about Trixie and the relationship/friendship she has with Matthew Aylward. This man who is a widower of her patient, rich from old family businesses and having a very hard time grieving and moving forward.
This episode has their paths cross in a very different way. Professionally. We have seen he is wanting a different life than he had for his child and by the end we can see he wants to change not just himself but the way his family is handling their business practices.
Although Trixie loves her fashion and possessions she knows the reality of life through the eyes of her patients. She’s seen it all. Her advice is very obviously important to Mr. Aylward as is her opinion.
Trixie is the only one who seems to understand Matthew’s grief. She sees his love for his son and the changes he wants to make in his life. The support she has for him seems to be leading in a very specific direction.
After Christopher, I didn’t really see Trixie with someone who didn’t already have a child. As we know, she’s getting older which mean the men she will date would be older as well. During that time, you got married and had children young so the likelihood of her finding someone without a child is less than it would be today.
I know most people may not be of the same opinion as me, but I support the Trixie and Matthew relationship. Ok shoot me!! Haha.
They have not rushed anything. They have not indicated that their is anything there but friendship which is very very very important in my book. He is still grieving and needs to live through that before any type of relationship can work. Maybe a year? I’m not sure but so far I am happy with the way things are playing out.
I think this is the type of relationship Trixie needs. He’s handsome, polite, let’s a woman have her own mind (very important!!) and very much has the type of lifestyle Trixie would love to have. Yes, that’s shallow, but I think she would look at it more to help others (as Matthew did by writing those checks) then for fancy clothes etc. We see both of them changing a little in this category. Would Trixie have ever answered the door like that before? She didn’t like it but she did it! That’s a big step for her!
She loves helping people. She loves children. Maybe she won’t have children of her own but maybe she will. She very much cared for Fiona and knowing her the way she was able to get to know her helps her respect and love the marriage Matthew had with her.
Why would the writers write this whole long thing without a plan? Why would they have this story line play out for so long just to have him write a check?
They wouldn’t. We deserve to see how Trixie’s relationship starts and evolves. She’s been through so much and I want to see her have a deep and very meaningful relationship.
Looking back, I didn’t like her with Tom. Neither of them were able to be their true selves. There were too many difference. I’m glad they were able to see that.
Christopher I think would have worked if it wasn’t for his daughter. She didn’t deserve to be treated and called names by his ex-wife. She didn’t need that drama although he was a good man.
Let’s say this relationship happens. Let’s say it gets to a point of marriage. What would happen to Trixie the Midwife?
