I forgot to take a before picture but this mask was originally all black and was full of scratches. I was able to make a skull mask design based off of face painting tutorials for Halloween. A little sneak peak before posting our costumes this year! #skullmask #painting #diyhalloweencostume #craftygirl #halloween #halloweencostume #skullmakeup #skull #halloweenmask #mask https://www.instagram.com/p/B4CIzk_ga8D/?igshid=1jbdm9qk0usb7

Well now that the last touches have been made I decided I would share the tattoo my dad got me for graduation! Thanks @tmaez! It’s a bit shiny from A&D ointment and I took it in B/W to bring out the details #tattoos #girlswithtattoos #oceantattoo #octopustattoo #fresnotattoo also thanks to Dustin from @fresnotattoo I highly recommend hitting them up for your next tattoo or piercing! They do those piercings for the migraines too! (at Fresno Tattoo & Body Piercing) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2Nms8hghMK/?igshid=1svpdatseazu2

These are my final photos for my black and white photography class. The theme I chose to emphasize this time around was to highlight the technical imperfections and use them to further serve the overall tone of the photograph. Seemingly simple situations and subjects become more visually appealing when there is something interesting to catch the viewers eye. The imperfections give mystery and make the viewer ask when was this taken. They bring the viewer away from the current time and think of it more simply as aesthetically pleasing. The imperfections make these print perfectly interesting which I think wouldn't be achieved in a digital medium. I've noticed by allowing the flaws to seep through the viewers of my work are taking more time to absorb the content rather than shuffle on to the next. By adding these details I think a have stopped the viewer in their tracks and force them to really appreciate the subject and appreciate the total craftsmanship of the final product.

This body of work made me think critically about form. The creatures seen in these works are made up of smaller creatures making this chaotic collage of faces and personalities. By adding the change in colors you bring forward different images at different glances at the work. Every time I looked at each piece I would find something I had not noticed previously.

Without sounding arrogant Gary Winogrand reminds me of myself, or at least what I strive for when framing my shot for my final project this semester. They are loose and just what was going on around him at the time. He plays by his rules. I like when he says he didn’t try to be a photographer all of a sudden he just was one. That’s how I felt when I began photography as I started to get my graphics layouts to have the perfectly framed shot for the composition. Once he started printing his film he never went back to painting and I have similarly taken a break to the traditional fine arts.
He can frame his shots beautifully and highlights imperfections with mindfulness. He states the problem for the artist is to state the problem. You not only have to answer but make the question apparent. The question is always what is the purpose.
Capturing photographs has made me wonder if he realized what he was capturing or if he has no idea until he makes his test print. The way he frames his compositions gives the true illusion of an onlooker looking at the scene at the moment as part of the scene. I would imagine there would have to be some kind of mindfulness needed as he ventures through the streets.
He's able to capture people in a way where it looks genuine and imposed and I wonder if it's because there was no social media influence that subconsciously tells the person to pose. Sometimes when photographing people I feel I can't get a genuine portrait anymore without thinking about Instagram influences.
You have to be your toughest critic and you learn by work.

These are some photos I submitted for CVCF Annual Report Photo Contest. Sadly I didn't hear anything back about it but I'm still proud of the work. To me these are an artistic glance into the beauty of Central Valley which I want to expand upon once I can save to take some road trips. 📸
