So...I've decided to attempt hosting a whump event, but I want to get some feedback from potential participants before I nail down the specifics.
My current idea is to have a trope-focused event with a different general theme for each month, a more specific theme for each week, and a particular trope for each day. (To give an example: a monthly theme could be "nonhuman whump," a weekly theme could be "vampire whump," and a daily prompt could be "burned with silver.") Interested people would have a chance to suggest and vote on the themes before the event started. This event will have an emphasis on flexibility, so you could do an entry for each day, one for each week, one for each month, or you could alternate between these at will.
Please reblog for sample size (and to spread the word to those who might be interested!)
Also if you vote that I should adjust or rework the format, please send in suggestions for how I should change it. Otherwise I'd just be making shots in the dark.
#chances i’ll have the motivation to participate are sadly rather slim#but this sounds really cool!!#divine reblogs. ` ⛓

As I wrote the answers I realized that I can’t even explain why I or others may like whump. So I’m very intrigued if you have an answer that isn’t listed. Please tell me why you like it :) I may make another poll just like this and add your reasonings as answers!
#all of this lmao#i just enjoy it. no reason#sometimes it’s kink#sometimes coping#sometimes both kink AND coping#sometimes it’s tje whumperflies#sometimes i wanna creep myself out#so. yeah. main reason i’d say is just enjoyment without a real reason#but it really depends on the day & the work lol#divine reblogs. ` ⛓

tag the oc who is ambidextrous
#nikolai#he normally uses his left hand but for ‘bad’ things his right#because he doesn’t want to stain people he loves with the bad things he’s done#he could use whichever though#he did put in extra effort into being able to write with both hands and stuff but the extra in the effort is that he learnt everything twice#divine reblogs. ` ⛓

Fellow Medical Whump Lover! Thoughts on field medicine?
first of all ty for the ask!! :D
second of all while i am pretty confident in my english skills, my whole medical knowledge is german lol so i’m not even 100% sure what field medicine is and google isn’t helping that much, so. i’m assuming it’s the same as battlefield medicine? that’s the only thing that came up on google- if not, please correct me asdgjkgdhjf
so. battlefield medicine. yes!! yes. i’m not really one for historical fiction (and frankly, my personal biggest interest in medicine is definitely of the scientific type—mostly forensic medicine, actually) but in a modern setting? hell yes.
a caretaker who works as field surgeon/similar, and a whumpee who’s fighting in the army they’re caring for? yes. caretaker being forced to help others before whumpee because their injuries are greater? yes yes. caretaker forced to let whumpee die because their injuries are too great to be treated in their setting, and having to care for others instead? yes yes yes.
caretaker working in battlefield medicine with whumpee working in the army they care for is a great combination. very much especially if they’re close, and have known each other for years. though it’s also fun if they get to know each other because of whumpee landing in their care... multiple times.....
conclusion: yes <3
#i actually vaguely know an ex field surgeon#he ended up having to stop working bc of the trauma from working as a field surgeon...#i know. one story he’s told me abt why it’s so traumatising#it’s pretty extreme but honestly what do you expect from war#but yeah it’s all he’s ever told me and while i’d be v interested in more i don’t blame him for not wanting to tell me more#so that one story is all real life stuff ik abt field medicine atm. but i’d def read more abt it#it’s a pretty interesting field of medicine to me asgjgfjsh. i’d like to maybe work in forensic medicine one day and the unusual deaths+#that interest me most are certainly the violent ones so being interested in violent (non-death too) injuries is kinda a given lol#divine asks. ` ⛓

there's something compelling to me about the fact that sometimes leaving a blade or bullet inside the wound it made is the only way to prevent you from bleeding to death. something about the symbolism of it. when the thing designed and intended to kill you is the only thing keeping you alive.
