I LOVE when Sam and Dean are scary. It's one of my favorite things.

They're dangerous people! They're maladjusted! Undersocialized! Between them their kill count has got to be in the thousands and those that weren't straight up human sure looked and screamed and died like they were.

And they've been doing this since they were kids.

They're fucked up and clingy and creepy and a lot of the times they don't even realize it and I love!!! When we get to see it!

i totally believe john winchester would be a chainsmoker. that man is highly stressed, and although he does get drunk pretty often, it's still not often enough... so yea, i absolutely think he’d go through at least a pack a day. he’d smoke while driving, window cracked open, with his kids asleep in the backseat...

and sam would start pestering him about it as soon as he's old enough to learn about the dangers of smoking in school, and dean would start stealing cigarettes at 14 bc he wants to be cool like his daddy and 10 year old sam would be so fucking pissed at him lol

fast-forward to when dean drags sam back from stanford, and he finds out sam smokes now? oh, he’s livid. who said he could smoke ?? sammy knows better than that !! dean’s such a hypocrite, it'd be hilarious to watch

and like, sam only picked that smoking habit at stanford bc he missed his family, and the smell reminded him of them :(

and u know what would be even funnier? sam actually likes smoking. like, genuinely enjoys it. meanwhile, dean? he kinda hates it, always has. he only ever did it to look cool, to be like john.

so when he finds out that sam, of all people, is not only smoking but actually enjoying it? it would drive him insane.

Think about Sammy and he's five years old and he says "Spicy water!" when the waitress at the diner asks what he wants to drink. And she laughs and looks at John for an explanation but he doesn't have one and can't bring himself to admit that his nine year old is the one who usually takes care of the kid.

She brings a seltzer water and Sammy takes a sip and makes a face, because it's not the spicy water but the fizz is good too and he loudly declares that to the waitress. She smiles and gives the family a free slice of pie because the kids are so cute.

Later that night, back at the motel, John sees Dean pouring holy water into Sam's sippy cup and saying "you can't tell Dad that the water's spicy" and his heart shatters all over again.

I talked a bit about my take on weecest on this post

so yea, i do think they’re acting weird around each other, and - in john’s eyes - not getting along as well as they used to, because they’re drowning in guilt over their new, confusing thoughts about each other...

sam is growing up. he’s starting to look and act less like a kid, pushing back against their dad more and more. he’s not falling into the role of dean’s little brother as easily, and that, on its own, is already disorienting for both of them

at this point, they’re both teenagers, dean on the edge of adulthood, sam leaving childhood behind, and they’re isolated from the world in a sense (always moving around, not being able to be truthfull with their colleagues, john even avoid other hunters much, so their world is really small). john even mentions that they have no friends, no roots anywhere. so, in that kind of environment, it’s not hard to imagine things shifting into a boundary-blurring situation

sam is fifteen, his hormones are all over the place, and he’s painfully embarrassed about it. he starts noticing dean more, not that he never did before. his brother has always been otherworldly pretty, and everyone around them noticed that. but now, sam is dreaming about him... his hands, his lips, his freckles. he tries to redirect his attention to the girls at school, because that’s what he should be doing. but it never works. every time, he just ends up comparing them to dean, and no one ever measures up.

dean's has an even more messed up approach to this. he's straight. he’s never had trouble picking up girls, and he’s never really noticed other guys before (maybe once or twice, but never enough to think about it). so when he starts catching himself staring at sam, he doesn’t even realize what kind of stare it is at first. sam is growing, almost as tall as him now, getting stronger. so if dean watches him train a little too closely, it’s just because he’s proud of him…

so they start avoiding each other, both trying to push down what they’re feeling

sam is more aware of what this is, so in a way, avoiding dean is his way to punish himself, because in his mind, dean would never have thoughts like this. dean is good and pure. he’s the freak. he always has been.

dean, on the other hand, is a bit more clueless about what’s happening, or more likely, he’s just repressing it harder. he tries to counteract his attraction by going out with more girls, doubling down on treating sam like a kid, because that’s what he’s supposed to do. If he keeps seeing sam as a boy, it’ll stop him from seeing him as a man, and that solves this issue because he's not that much of creep. but sam pushes back, refusing to fall into that role anymore, and it shatters dean’s illusion...

and that’s when the resentment starts, both of them hating the way the other makes them feel...

so yeah, I do think they’re not getting along as well, weighed down by guilt and repression and resentment, and that causes that sense of "weirdness" between them that John catches...

4 year old dean crawling into sammy's crib to sleep with him ("Every morning when I wake up, Dean is inside the crib, arms wrapped around baby Sam.")

sam and dean sharing a bed as kids ("Sammy has finally started sleeping through the night, and now that Dean shares a bed with him, he's out like a light too.")

Sammy tooking his first steps towards dean ("Sam took his first steps yesterday. He walked toward Dean, then fell flat on his face and started crying.")

7 year old Dean making John promised he will take good care of Sammy while he's at school ("He makes me swear that I'll take good care of Sammy before he'll go to school)

Sam asking for a computer at his eleventh birthday (while Dean asked for a gun)

How Sam was already beefing with John at 12 lol ("Sammy is twelve years old today. He's a handful. Spends all of his time on the computer, unless he's arguing with me.")

Dean jokes with a woman at a bar that she has amazing tastes for being into him and not into nerds like his brother. She laughs and says "It's not even about that. I just don't find him attractive." and Dean immediately stops laughing.

He is confused, shocked and appalled. He was joking. He cannot phantom that someone can't find Sam attractive. She probably just didn't get a good look at him! There's no way she isn't into tall, wide shoulders, narrow waist, big hands and plainly adorable Sam. He actually goes to fetch Sam to show him to her.

The woman is still not interested in Sam and the conversation is getting heated because is she implying that Dean's brother is unattractive??? Who does she think she is?! The conversation only gets weirder and weirder as Dean keeps praising and raving about his brother's ASSests.

They both get kicked out of the bar for causing trouble and Sam is in utter disbelief at what happened. While they are walking back to the car Sam tears Dean a new one because what the fuck was that??? "Dean, you almost undressed me in the middle of a bar because the woman you wanted to sleep with said I wasn't attractive and then got mad at her when she didn't change her mind! What the fuck is wrong with you???" "Oh, I'm sorry for not wanting to sleep with people with no taste." "What????"

i love weecest in the sense that nothing ever happened between them, but there was always that strange energy, that underlying tension between them growing up...

dean feeling like a creep, drowning in guilt as sam grows more into a man and he can’t help but look...

and sam's increasingly feeling that something is wrong with him... that he’s truly a freak, lusting after his own brother. he tries to convince himself that he’s merely jealous, but deep down, he knows that’s not the case...

both of them longing to be closer, staring at each other when the other is not looking, both of them drowning in shame and guilt and avoiding each other....... I'M OBSESSED

i think the unwillingness to recognize that sam and dean are both cain and abel because of the nuances and intricacies of their specific dynamic is why there is a lot of simplistic meta that seeks to cast sam as the passive object to dean's raised fist. the roles the narrative assigns to them matter but so do the ways they cannot and will not fully embody those roles because they are sam and dean, not any pair of brothers that came before them.

i don't really vibe much with attic wife sam and wife beater dean cause i do think dean's obsessive and somewhat abusive towards sam yes but not in a "you're my property and i enjoy beating you down" way but more in a "you're mine and im yours and please please don't leave me I don't know who I am without you" kinda of way
