staying home alone is all fun and games until you hear one little creak after dark and all of a sudden you no longer feel safe in your own house and you just can't shake the feeling that you're not actually alone

I feel like Rumi, aside from being a plant mom, would also have a snake or something. Sure the girls have Derpy and Sussie, but Zoey seems to have claimed Derpy, and Sussie is practically glued to Mira. Rumi feels a little left out until she stumbles into a reptile expo while exploring the city.

Rumi knows absolutely nothing about owning a snake, but she immediately falls in love with the ones for sale at the expo. She especially likes a little ball python she sees, and she talks to the vendor about proper care and nutrition.

She decides that she wants that little snake bad enough that she puts a deposit down on the spot. The vendor is thrilled and points her in the direction of someone who can get her set up with a tank and some frozen mice for her new friend.

Armed with her new knowledge (and close to 100lbs of stuff), Rumi swings back around to pick up her snake before the expo closes. She names her Eopsin, and heads home to set up her new friends enclosure.

Mira and Zoey are (understandably) confused and concerned when Rumi comes home with a snake. She explains that she's been feeling left out since Mira and Zoey have the other animals. Zoey is on board after that explanation, and Mira isn't far behind when Eopsin curls around her hand.

Eopsin ends up being a great addition to the family, and is the main reason why Rumi doesn't get swallowed up by her depression anymore. She has to take care of Eopsin, so she needs to get out of bed and move. It helps her girls feel more at ease when leaving her home alone as well.

So I looked it up and it turns out Eopsin is the Korean goddess of storage and wealth, and she takes the form of a snake or weasel. I also wanted an excuse to write about ball pythons, since I have one.
