Moses Sumney
Tumblr media
It has long been established that Solange is the coolest in the universe. She has cultivated her own niche in the music industry while attempting to (successfully, I add) fight comparisons to her big sister, She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. So anything that she likes, must be cool. A casual reveal on her incredibly awesome Instagram and an extensive interview on her Saint Heron website brought Moses Sumney to my attention.
L.A artist Moses Sumney has a unique sound that is oddly unfamiliar and familiar at the same time. A sound that is both folk and soul, but with a hint of Veckatimest and Yellow House Grizzly Bear-esque rugged delicacy.
He is definitely an artist that the indiesphere has to watch out for, and with the nod he just recieved from Pitchfork, he will definitely rise. Quite impressive to see a man of colour take on what is considered “White Music”, succeed and break all those colour labels at the same time, actually.
Listen here. You’re welcome!
