Republican flex:
I could name hundreds of Republicans who have affairs, have assaulted women, or sex traffic with underage girls, but I won't.

i think the reason why daniel and armand would work is because, unlike all of armand’s previous relationships, daniel is a bitch that wouldn’t lie for his benefit. daniel’s whole thing is that he’s horny for the truth and violence. and armand doesn’t really know how to be a normal guy bc he’s a severely traumatized ancient vampire that probably has a personality disorder. and they’re perfect for each other! evil bitches that are into freak shit but they’re always absolutely fascinated by each other.

Bucky knowing at least 31 languages according to CACW, super serum brain enhancements and the fact he learned Xhosa in Wakanda, leads me to believe he must have the fucking gnarliest of language blurring. You know when you can't seem to figure out how to word something in one language so you skip over to a different one but wait no one knows that...
I also don't think English would be Bucky's default language anymore. It's his birth language, sure, but Russian is probably the language he defaults to now after 80 years right?
So if Bucky's ever delirious for whatever reason, extreme tiredness, magic, super drugs or whatever who knows, do we think he talks in the most insane blend of languages, does he say a sentence in Japanese then switch to Korean and then to Polish, do we think he'd point blank say "I'm sorry I don't speak English" in English to his English speaking friends or teammates because he thinks in Russian and about fifteen other languages before he gets to English, and then goes "oh wait I do" or...?

love love love all of the shenanigans in the voyage home and how they went like "time continuity? not altering the future? no time for that, we've got to save the whales!"
highlights of jim and bones trying to encourage spock to explore his humanity
and his parents being like *gently push him towards his friends in the playground*
bonus: jim's little fruity stand waiting for spock really got me
not pictured: a hospital heist to save chekov, scotty building an aquarium inside a klingon ship, uhura infiltrating a military vessel, sulu charming a guy to steal a helicopter
#this is definitely one of the movies of all time#star trek iv the voyage home#aka the one where they save the whales

incredibly important to bring this back for 2 reasons:
I continue to hear from people who insist that the incoming buffoon in chief isn't competent enough to make good on all his threats which is an INCREDIBLY dangerous assumption to make, and
It is Incalculably Important that we continue to deconstruct the myth that there was anything at all to admire about the Third Reich. There is a history going decades back of putting Nazi leadership on pedestals to further service the US's national mythology of having had (at least) one time had A Worthy Adversary. We have got to cut that shit out. It's propaganda, pure and simple.
Hmm, this sounds familiar, but I can’t quite put my finger on why…

Rereading the Lord of the Rings series recently, and it's so fascinating to me how much the series is a denial of the typical juvenile power-fantasy that is associated with the fantasy genre.
Like, the power-fantasy is the temptation the Ring uses against people It tempts Boromir with becoming the "one true king" that could save his people with fantastic power. It tempts Sam with being the savior of Middle Earth and turning the ruin that is Mordor into a great garden. It tempts Gandalf and Galadriel with being the messianic figure of legend who brings salvation to Middle Earth and great glory to herself.
The things the Ring tempts people with are becoming the typical protagonists of fantasy stories that we expect to see. and over and over we see that accepting that role, that fantasy of being the benevolent all-powerful hero, is a bad thing. LotR is about how power, even power wielded with benevolent intent, is corrupting.
And its so fascinating how so much of modern fantasy buys into the very fantasy LotR denies. Most modern fantasy is about being that Heroic power-fantasy. About good amassing power to rival evil. But LotR dares not to. It dares to be honest that there is no world where anyone amasses that power and remains good.
I guess that's one of the reasons its so compelling.
