Returning Nightmares is an exploration adventure-horror game being developed in RPG Maker 2003, inspired by Yume Nikki and it’s multiple fan-made homages (but with dialogue & easier to navigate maps). You play as Akira, a young man locked up in his own bedroom, exploring his dreams to remember the events that lead him to where he is now. But some things are better left alone…

It’s a partially silly, partially serious game, so there is blood, gore, death, & suicide mentions for those sensitive to it. Depending on how fast you are at finding things, the demo can take anywhere from 1-2 hours to finish. You should not need to download the RTP to play this game, but if you do, you can get it here from the official site.

Greetings everyone!

It sure has been a long time! I just wanted to tell anybody who follow this game that it is alive and well!

Even if it’s at a slow pace the first beta is coming along soon, hopefully in the first week of December. Since I’m in college I need to put all my focus on that, leaving little (but well used) time to work on it.

As you can see, i have been doing some changes to things, some minors changes and some important ones. Minors changes like redesign the T.V. and adding a saving point (the canvas). And the ones that I consider important, like the new actual name of the protagonist, who’s name now is BLANCO, and some minors changes to his design (he finally doesn’t look like an eforceless recolor).

Now, about the worlds, the principal ones are almost ready, some minor things that need to be fixed, and the effects are ready to be implemented and used, though only 4 will be available in this first beta.

That would be everything for now, expect some screenshots from the game this week. And sorry for not been able to post anything for a while! I promise I will be able to give my full time once december start! Thank you all for your patience!

It’s a goofy-er game that I made to get more familiar with the engine. It’s a parody and a tribute to edgy games and hopefully entertaining whether you like dark games or not! The demo currently has over 20 unique areas to explore and 12 memories to collect, along with a number of strange events and odd NPCs to find and interact with. I’m aiming to have the demo released at the end of November.
