I've seen people doing these and decided to try to make my version.
Sometimes "better" takes years of trying, failing, struggling. I started with no understanding of shapes or anatomy at all, but with the desire to depict my fictional creatures, both in drawing and 3D. I'm still learning ~

My fictional Kotie creature, the fantasy feline. The first sketch was made in 2015, being one of my very first attempts to depict such a creature in a more realistic way with detailed anatomy. I got it all wrong, from basic proportions to muscles that don't make sense. The second sketch was made in 2024, in the same pose but with all the fixes after years of learning. And finally, in 2025 I made a realistic 3D model of the same species.

My fictional creature called Solfshein. The first sketch was made in 2015, being the first and quick concept of the creature idea I had in mind. The second sketch show the newest version, with improved anatomy and overall vision of what this creature should look like. And finally, I made a realistic 3D model, which shows what such a creature might look like being a real animal.

The first picture shows a 3D model of my original character, the black Kotie named Atram, which I made back in 2016. The second picture shows the newest model of the same character, which I made in 2025.
And as a bonus - my drawing of a Peterbald cat made in 2015 vs my 3D model of the same cat breed made in 2024.
The idea is that I'm not some kind of super talented person that was born with anatomy knowledge and blender skills. I even dare to say that anatomy, proportions and realistic forms are what I am least talented in, being more naturally adapted to stylization, symbolic, surreal and visionary styles. The result that I have achieved is years of hard work, working with references, full of search, despair, and even the thought that I was born with some kind of a flawed brain that will never learn and is physically incapable of learning to depict creatures realistically with correct proportions. I still sometimes feel like this, to this day.
But that's... okay, I think? The idea is to not give up and keep moving, trying, learning. The result may take a lot of time and effort, but it is worth it.

A new comic. A while back, @nepeteaa wondered what night-migrating songbirds thought of the recent aurora.

One of the things I loved about The Wild Robot from a writing/world-building perspective was that it was clearly set in a post-apocalyptic world, but the details were very vague, and you don't even know until about an hour in:
"Beautiful shot," you think, and then it hits you that the whales are swimming over the Golden Gate Bridge.
Abandoned, crumbling satellites and a sunken city. And then when we do see the human city, they freak out at the sight of geese:
Animal-derived plague? Global warming? We don't know. We only know that something has happened. But like the general theme, whatever bad has occurred, the natural world is thriving. An unexpected positive from a history of tragedy.

Tezuka Pro's official YouTube channel uploaded the original Unico pilot film, Black Cloud And White Feathers, for streaming! Previously, the only officil way to watch this pilot was as an extra on Discotek's Unico release. If you've always been curious about it, now's a great time to check it out (as it probably won't be up forever!)

i made these a WHILE ago and debated sharing them but i decided i will now, so heres some art i made for the comic what lurks beneath :> @whatlurksbean (absolutely amazing comic btw would recommend)
also fun fact, the reason i drew tansy as a cowboy (cowcat??) is because i read the comic w a friend and when i voiced tansy i gave her a southern accent for some reason and it just stuck lmao
(i might also make a more detailed piece eventually since these were just doodles)
