@deaextramachina
“Ah, I see you wasted no time seeking me out.”
“Are you surprised?” The digital ghost intoned. “As... unfortunate as your current form is, you are still one of us. The last of us, even. As far as flesh and bone go, at any rate.”
It had not been hard to hack into this new iteration of humanity’s Animus. While still crude, progress had certainly been made since last she’d checked. Curious. If nothing else, she would have liked to sit down and talk with the designer. Pick their brain, so to speak. As a former scientist herself, let it not be said that she didn’t have an appreciation for intelligence and creativity... even if it came from an annoyingly human source.
Speaking of which...
“I do not believe we’ve ever officially met. I am not even aware of your identity nor how you have survived this long, although...” Juno raised a lone, ethereal finger up, pointing towards the black mark on the man’s neck. “I can make an educated guess. You are Aesir. You live due to my work, my guidance. You’re welcome.”

prctectedlegacy:
Abby has to fight Aita to keep herself even remotely human, even in the presence of the woman in front of her. She senses that she has caused Juno some sort of offense, but, unsure of what to do, stays silent as the familiar woman begins to speak again. She pulls an unhappy face that she’s not sure she can register as hers as Juno approaches.
Her eyes close, she’s almost able to feel the light touch on her cheek, and Aita finally takes over enough to raise and eyebrow at his-her?-love. “I know where that might be,” she says, at Juno, eyes full of hope. “London…”
London... It took Juno a moment to realize where exactly Aita was referring to. It was difficult to keep track of human geography, human terms. London...? That was... a city in the kingdom named England, she believed. Located to the east of the Myrddin Vault. It was a purely human city, much to her annoyance. There were no Isu ruins that it was built atop of, unlike Rome. It rendered her blind to the city and its surroundings.
“Then to London you must go.” Juno intoned solemnly. “You must be my eyes and ears in that debased city of mankind. You must retrieve the Shroud of Consus. Then you must hide it away where only you and your successors will know to look. It must NOT be found. Not by the Cross nor by the Eagles. It is the key to restoring my physical form.”
One of many, at least.

@prctectedlegacy continued from here
The specter of Juno had to hold herself back from releasing a resigned sigh. Ghost. That’s what Aita considered her and it was so very telling. In this reincarnation, her love was still mostly human. Aita’s personality and memories had not yet completely subsumed their (ugh) human host. It was like speaking to a toddler, yet that toddler was her husband (wife?).
“You will be waiting a long time yet.” Juno intoned instead. There was no need for Aita’s reincarnation to be privy to her thoughts. “The time is not yet ripe. The world is not at a point where I can free myself from my shackles.” A small trace of bitterness escaped into Juno’s tone.
She had been waiting... so long. So, so long. Had she still had a mortal body, a mortal mind, she would have been reduced to madness long ago.
“However, it is entirely possible to... speed up the process.” She spoke softly, reaching over to brush over Aita’s new face with ethereal fingertips. A calculated move. “The Shroud. You must find the Shroud. Consus and his tool is imperative to my resurrection.”

"You know, people appreciate warnings in this day and age," Abby says before looking up from a book she's been reading and freezing. "Juno..." she says, her voice suddenly quiet. "How are you-is it really you? I mean, of course it's you but...but how?"
For a long moment, the ghostly form of the once great Isu scientist didn’t say anything, content to merely observe the latest reincarnation of her dearly departed husband. Her gaze, while not harsh, was judgmental. As if she were deeming how Aita’s current form compared to the others she had seen... Which was exactly what she was doing.
“...This will suffice.” Juno mused, more to herself than towards Aita. “Curious, though. That you would reincarnate into a human female. While it wasn’t impossible, the thought never occurred to me that it would ever happen. After all, it never has before, to my knowledge.”
Not that her knowledge was perfect and absolute. Far from it. But she wasn’t about to expound upon her imperfections, not even to the reincarnation of her dear Aita.
“This body of yours... It’s still relatively fresh. Ignorant. Your surprise marks you as such. Knowledge, true knowledge, will come in time. That we can speak now is a benchmark. Oh, my dear Aita, how far you’ve come despite your handicap.”

Your Muse’s Backstory
1. Where were they born? What is the story behind their birth, if any?
2. Has their living situation changed from when they were born?
3. What occupations did their parents have when they were born? Did this job influence your muse in any form?
4. Did they have any childhood enemies? Any friends? Enemies that became friends?
5. What sort of religion was practiced in their home? Did religion play a role in their upbringing?
6. How many siblings did they have? What was their relationship like? Were they an only child who wished for siblings?
7. What is their fondest memory? Their worst?
8. If they could name the worst moment of their life, what would it be? Did this change them as a person or change how they perceived the world, themselves, and others?
9. If they were to make a timeline with their life events, which ones would they list? Which would they leave out? 10. What was the hardest lesson they had to learn as they got older?
11. What occupation did your character want to have growing up? Is this the same as what they wish to be, or are in, now?
12. Did they face any kind of bullying or abuse growing up?
13. Are there any moments of their past they keep secret?
14. Did they live near extended family in the past? How did this shape their environment? Are any of their relatives near their age? What are their feelings towards extended family in general?
15. Would they rather go back and relive their childhood? Why or why not?

A lot of the time I don’t know how to have Juno approach people, so this blog winds up being a whole bunch of headcanons and Juno making passive aggressive comments. Woops.

A little tidbit that didn’t make it into my last post:
Why was Samael even in Feyan when he’s from Eden? Because he may have did a wee bit of rebellion against the Isu Authority in the city. He kind of wanted the top spot for himself. He was a spiteful fucker too. Once he was cast out, he got in a wee spot of more trouble after low-key giving Eve the idea to go steal an Apple.
#;ooc#;headcanon#;valhalla spoilers#kind of anyway#we don't get any details on him besides a name#so all of this are purely my headcanons#that said is it any surprise that such a troublemaker would want to nurture another potential troublemaker

“Personally, I was always fond of Samael. Although he was from Eden and I was from Feyan, two city states diametrically opposed to each other, he wound up being a sort of mentor figure to me. Oh, make no mistake, I have my fair share of disdain for the final results of Project Anthropos, but not even I could deny Samael’s talents.
He was an organizer, brilliant in mind and silver of tongue. Charming fellow. He was the one that went out and gathered the resources that the project would need, the one who recruited all the scientists who worked on the project. Had I been born a century or two earlier, I have no doubt that I would’ve been one of those recruited. Perhaps I could have corrected the fundamental flaw in the final result. Perhaps I could have solved the human issue?
But I need not concern myself with what ifs. That is more Merva’s expertise.
Point being? It was Samael that noticed my talents. It was Samael who took me under his wing when I was still young. It was Samael who was my teacher, at the behest of my father, who nurtured me like a gardener nurtures the most precious and fragile of flowers.
It was Samael who gave me access to all the research necessary to make my Project Olympos a reality. He was rather intrigued when I showed him the results. He saw the potential, unlike other such fools like Poseidon. Samael was never one to be shackled by preconceived notions, always eager to press the envelope.
I truly miss being able to approach him whenever I need advice or a different perspective. But then, I remind myself that that would be wholly unnecessary. It is the lot of the student to surpass the teacher, and I surpassed Samael long ago.”
#;muse commentary#;valhalla spoilers#some worldbuilding about juno's childhood and someone important to her#when i saw that samael was one of the three in charge of project anthropos?#i freaked out#because samael is one of the names commonly attributed to the devil#it just made sense to me that juno would have studied under him

" i don't know what i'm doing... "
" you're still here. why? haven't you seen enough to know that's the biggest mistake you'll ever make? "
" i did this... "

“Gorm Kjotvesson... A name barely worth remembering if not for my didactic memory. Still... easily manipulated brute that he was, he wound up being one of the more important tools in my arsenal. Such promises of glory and power I whispered into his ear... But it was never his role to be by my side. To release me from my bonds. He was merely... a courier. Tasked with a delivery that the Mad One was kind enough to finish for me.”

I’m currently looking through this blog, seeing if anything needs to be updated, and I have to wonder if labelling the various pages in binary was a good idea... Like, yeah, it’s fitting for Juno’s character, but from a purely practical standpoint I’m now worried it makes this blog’s pages difficult to navigate. Hmm.

“My absence was unplanned, a result of my own hubris. But did Miss de la Cruz really think that my death would be the end of it? I have died before. That was merely a setback. Nothing more.”
