I feel so bad for Cleo. Like the whole Terrance thing leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth– like the pogues really did not care as much as they should’ve. He was as good as a father to her, and he was murdered right in front of her. You’d think Sarah would have something to say seeing as she experienced the exact same thing :/

Spoilers for Outer Banks Season 4

I will never forgive the writers for how they butchered Pope's character arc this season. He is my favorite character and I relate to him so much as a Black person who was expected to be the perfect student and child. I always thought he had the best character development out of all the pogues (you can't tell me s1 Pope and s4, part 1 Pope are the same person). However, part 2 was literal character regression. He threw away his college plans just to be a felon and murderer (the only person I would have been ok with him killing is Rafe). It's like after everything he's been though (being hate-crimed by a cokehead, his family's inheritance being stolen, etc.), he still couldn't catch a break. Also the fact that they dropped the ball on bisexual Pope will forever piss me off because that could have been great Black queer representation that we usually don't see in mainstream media. He's so queer-coded to me and I don't care he deserved to be in a bisexual love triangle between a pretty Black girl (Cleo) and a cute white boy (JJ).

Cleo's character arc this season was also lackluster. We still don't know much about her backstory and the revenge for Terrance plot line was half-baked. Cleo didn't even get to kill Lightner. I thought that Cleo was going to let the revenge consume her to the point where she distances herself from Pope and the rest of the pogues (they didn't even try to support her like they should have imo). Instead the so called "distance" (because that shit only lasted 5 minutes) was because Pope was being forced to sign up for the marines. Like why do the female characters' plot lines always have to revolve around their male love interests? (I also hated that plot because it threw away Heyward and Pope's development as father and son).

Pope and Cleo as a couple were great because their chemistry is on point, but their individual character arcs suffered. Which is why I always say if you're going to have Black characters in your media, hire Black writers!

i think my favorite thing about this show is that whenever characters have beef, instead of getting into a fight (boring) they have a dance battle. this is a regular occurrence
