"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" ~ Nelson Mandela
I Live To Be A Future Educator
The PPST has taught us that there are standards that teachers should know to be able to achieve quality performance, improve student learning outcomes, and provide quality education that is inclusive of all learners. Future educators need commitment, patience, and hard effort to obtain these qualities, but if we set our minds to it, we will succeed.
I, as a future educator, aspire to be someone who doesn’t dogmatically spoon-feed knowledge and values to the learners. I value an inclusive classroom design in which I am more of a facilitator than a dictator and see how my students flourish working on their own or in groups. The way I can be recognized as a true leader in education who initiates collaboration and puts the interests of the students first
There are stages we need to progress through in the teaching profession, where you start as a beginner teacher until you reach the potential of becoming a distinguished one. While I am accomplishing my journey, I would like my students to remember me as someone innovative and committed to my duty as a teacher. My mission is to motivate my students to learn and realize their full potential via the use of diverse approaches that excite their creativity and morality.
To work towards this aspiration, I should abide by the laws that expect me to perform and deliver well in my field of teaching. I should never be afraid to experiment with new teaching methods in order to improve student learning. Not only that, I should aim for an inclusive classroom design so that I can reach my students more and see them from a broader perspective.

Ethics through distance learning
Distance education has permeated our post-pandemic academic endeavors, given that today’s social milieu demands oneself to subscribe to this tricky yet necessary learning setup. And with this inevitable prevalence comes some disadvantageous facets manifested through, say, disjointed student-teacher relationships, academic dishonesty tendencies, and students’ digital access struggles. Professionalism comes into play in this context where students are not monitored. For teachers, it would be mandatory and favorable to promote an environment, albeit digital, that caters to the needs of the students in such a demanding setup and holds responsibility for the actualization of the learning process with appropriate leniency, an ethical duty that ascertains technical competence, as hinted at in the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, Article III, Section I and Article VIII, Section II.
Distance learning entails the individualized efforts and challenges faced by students and teachers on their ends. For students, the number and degree of difficulty of learning and test materials might be overwhelming, which is why teachers are mandated to consider their well-being in preparing materials and setting deadlines, as stated in Article VIII, and should the students show signs of their struggles teaching professionals should consult with and be cordial and transparent with their parents/guardians to identify and resolve learning issues, as stated in the entirety of Article IX. However, these considerations do not end in and of themselves. Ethics starts within oneself, so teachers should also ascertain that self-discipline is present at all times because this exemplary demonstration is crucial in molding the students to be virtuous and competent learners, as stated in Article XI, Section III. Bottom line: be it online or face-to-face, these ethical principles are legalized for a reason, and that is for teaching professionals to ensure that their pedagogy is morally grounded, compassionate towards the clientele, and technically effective.

"The safety of the people must be the highest law" - Marcus Tullius Cicero
Legal mandates in the teaching profession: a personal perspective
We cannot deny that in the teaching profession, there are instances where the teacher or student gets violated of their rights, and because we sometimes lack knowledge about the legal bases in the teaching profession, we tend to take our roles in the classroom for granted. It’s true that some of the teachers abuse their power and become dictators in the classroom; for some students, they also tend to mistreat their teachers. As a result of improving awareness of the legal foundations of the teaching profession, misdemeanors will be reduced, and as future educators, we will learn that we are protected and empowered by these regulations.
Through the past few weeks of discussion, we have come to understand why it is important for us future educators to understand that there are laws to be followed in our teaching profession. This is intended to instruct us on how to appropriately connect with our pupils, considering that we interact with them on a daily basis. So, it tells us that even inside a classroom, we are still citizens that are governed by a variety of laws and regulations. Not only that, if we abide by these laws, we can maintain a peaceful and conducive learning environment for our students. This means that we can help mold the knowledge, talents, and attitudes of our students so that they can make generous contributions to the community.
Lastly, with the knowledge we have about the legal bases of our teaching profession, we can be armed with the right attitude, value, and skill that guides us to do the right thing and create a harmonious atmosphere for our students.

My thoughts on Education: A reflection
The more we dig deeper into the lessons in our course, the more I understand the purpose of educators in our lives, and that is to uphold the mission and mission of education. It is essential for the sake of the community that those of us who are currently students and those who will soon be entering the teaching profession put into practice the objectives that education is required to meet. I have also discovered that we can become great educators if we learn how to listen to our students and if we do not shy away from change. It is critical that we develop the ability to withstand adversity in order to maximize the potential benefits that the future holds for us. Creating a teaching philosophy was difficult at first because I did not know how to organize my thoughts. However, I survived the task. I came to see that we, as educators, require a guiding pedagogical philosophy in order to function effectively in our profession. Permit this to put us in a favorable light so that in the future, both we and our pupils can experience success.
An Educator’s Teaching Philosophy
As educators, instilling in ourselves a personal teaching philosophy is vitally important but it’s not always easy to achieve. However, we try our best to create these philosophies because it is a powerful tool that can guide our teaching practices and how we perceive teaching.
The first step is to create specific and moderate goals as a teacher and for the students so that we can make a direction for learning that can increase student's level of engagement and achievement. As a teacher, I want to enhance quality lifelong learning, possess wisdom that inspires, uphold collaboration, initiative and respect and serve as a mentor with discipline and grit. If I can succeed with my objectives I will be able to employ self-directed learning, social connections, adaptability and communication. For the students, my goal is, first, to shape the learners to become a benefit of the community because that is their way to give back as citizens of the country. I will shape them to become responsible and wise citizens. Secondly, create learning opportunities for them so that they can survive even outside of the classroom. Provide them with as many choices as possible. Lastly, provide a friendly and inclusive classroom that can facilitate all learners and makes sure they are all valued equally.
In order to achieve these goals, I need to actively connect with my students by facilitating group projects that require them to collaborate with one another and introducing technology into the classroom as a tool through which they may be taught to be resilient and adaptable. Then, the strategy of modeling is introduced so that we can make a clear representation of our ideas and lessons. In conclusion, in order to foster learning from experience, it is essential that our students are able to connect what they are learning to their own personal experiences and are aware of how to reflect on those experiences.
Direct and indirect measurements such as homework, quizzes, oral performances, reports, analyses, and other activities are used in the process of evaluating students' learning. In my case, I assess student understanding by facilitating performances and activities that allow students to express how they understood their learning and present their ideas to their peers. This way, it would be easier for the learner to retain that knowledge about the lesson. Even though they will be used less frequently, tests and quizzes will still be a part of the curriculum. I want my activities to be as interactive as they can get. Examples of immediate student response are through polls or online educational games like Kahoot. Everything about it is entertaining and informative.
In the field of psychology, I see teaching as a continuous process of understanding that also uses different methods to achieve better results. Aside from technical topics such as learning the relationship between brain functions and behavior, I see that it is also of great significance that students gain a sense of integrity and honesty in their work and everything they do in the process of studying the course. The concepts of integrity and honesty are difficult to grasp since different individuals give them various definitions, and some people are able to persuade themselves that the actions they take are consistent with integrity. This can be a problem for most students too; they lack honesty and integrity. Therefore, as educators, it is our responsibility to integrate and strengthen values education into our curriculum. The only way to accomplish this is to make contact with the head of the department; alternatively, we can integrate the significance of values education into everything that we teach in our own unique ways.
It is important to know what your students think about you as a teacher, and conducting an anonymous survey about your way of teaching can help you realize what you lack and what they like about you. After hearing that information, it is very evident to me that as an educator, I may enhance my teaching by participating in conferences and seminars or by studying once more just for the purpose of expanding my knowledge in my area of expertise. In addition to this, I need to maintain an open mind regarding new pedagogical approaches and the willingness to gradually integrate these new ideas into the way I teach. One more technique is for me to pick up tips and tricks from my coworkers so that I can combine their approaches with my own.
Implementing my teaching philosophy to govern my method of instruction is a difficult task. Nevertheless, I have the will and motivation to work hard and accomplish my teaching objectives.

Teaching empowers us to make a difference
The role of educators in our society is tied with skill, responsibility, and commitment to give our students the possibility of a better future. Society often belittles teachers, thinking that it is only a profession that doesn’t pay well and people really think it’s an easy task. It isn’t. Without our teachers, we would be deprived of learning and having other professions as choices. Being a teacher comes with not only knowledge but also the will to integrate different values to students so they can survive outside the classroom. Teaching is all about being a profession, a mission and a vocation.
Enrolling in this course has enlightened me about the grave importance of the teaching profession and has sparked my interest to become part of empowering students to become a better version of themselves so that they can contribute back to the community and shape themselves to become critical thinkers. All my life, I looked up and never forgot about the teachers that believed in my capabilities to prosper in life. As my way of giving back to them, I decided to become a teacher and hold the power of motivating students to accomplish their goals.
It will be challenging to carry out these tasks, however, to become an excellent teacher in the 21st century: (1)resilience is needed to adapt to challenging situations, especially since technology is also rapidly developing; (2) creativity to stimulate student’s innovative thinking and (3)inclusivity, where everyone should feel welcomed to learn regardless of demographic differences.
Teachers are lifelong learners, so are students. If we help each other hand-in-hand, we can make a difference and change the world.

It's been a thrill to have joined Letterboxd for the past eight months. I have logged in to more than 200 films since January 2021, and there's a lot more to discover. I'm a fan of horror, thriller, psychological, and mystery films, so I usually spend my free time reading reviews, writing comments, and sharing my thoughts. Teen romance or fantasy is not my thing, but I'm willing to try it if friends recommend it.
With my eight months—and counting—on Letterboxd, I am still looking for other film buffs to follow. Let's be friends there! I can't wait!
