Not Well
Simmering blood burbles beneath the thin skin of my forehead. Apathy dominates my daytime mood, and listlessness reigns over my nights. Desiccated throat constricts and causes vocalizations to rumble raspily and with an unsteadily reverberating baritone timbre. I lay on red leather couch, roll over, and mumble, “I am not well,” to no one in particular.

Sick
I am sick. I cough and my throat is sore. But it's okay. 'Cause I'm alive.

A Cat
I saw a cat today. It purred at me. Or did it just purr?

Mangoes
In a way, we’re all unripe mangoes dangling from branches, bobbing in the breeze.

Drinkable Air
When my mother and I walk together, we frequently take a route that causes us to climb a moderate slope. She's taught me to appreciate the simple pleasures, the quiet beauty of what some would consider to be mundane moments. At the crest of the slope, we slow our pace and allow the cool trade winds to wash our faces with clean air. This clean air that we drink in through our slender nostrils is like cold, crisp water. Drinkable and nourishing and necessary for life.

Pool Day
Yesterday at the base of Diamond Head we attended a beautiful pool party.
The house was beautifully de- signed and curated.
There was a shrub of lemongrass and a bush of rosemary on the property perimeter.
Tequila, vodka, and champagne flowed from large glass bottles.
It was good to see everyone again.

“This bread kinda tastes stale.”
“it isn’t.  I’ve been here before.”
“Yeah, I’m sure it isn’t, but it tastes like it is."

Dog-Walking
It is
good to
walk my dog.
My dog is so
nice
and
warm
and obedient.
In the
indifferent,
cold,
inobedient
night air,
my dog
is excellent.
Thank you.

Free Burger
This is a free burger from Jack in the Box.
It is a relatively simple burger.
The quality of the beef is rather poor.
The buns are kind of soggy.
But it tastes good, and it is free, so it is a
Good Burger.

Gorgeous Oysters
A half-
dozen
oysters on
the half shell.
Briny, slimy flesh
adorned with black roe,
shaved scallions,
and bright-red diced
tomatoes.  A solid
snack while we wait
for a table to open
next door.
