We finish this together.
#fellas is it gay to talk your homie down from ending the world by telling him his imperfections are beautiful#and that he searched for you in every timeline and then sacrificing yourselves for the world but mostly each other#i am gnawing at the bars of my enclosure#arcane spoilers#arcane

Can I say something. I kinda love when batman fans talk about it like there's one definitive canon universe and we're all always talking about the same version of batman. Like no we're not but I'm obsessed with the implications

I'm not upset discussions of Sally Ride these days don't leave out the fact that she was a lesbian and therefore the first known queer person in space (albeit a fact only known after her death), but I hate that the fact that what is left out is that she, while part of the Roger's Commission after Challenger exploded, was the whistleblower who made sure the information for the defects of the O-rings made its way to Richard Feynman, who then famously, publicly, and on camera demonstrated how icy coldness (such as the cold and icy weather the morning before Challenger launched) could critically deform the O-rings used and keep them from forming a seal. This was also only revealed after she died. (x)
Whenever Sally Ride comes up these days among my (overwhelmingly queer) friends, we all acknowledge that she was a lesbian and celebrate what a role model she was not just for girls but for queer kids (and adults) too, but everyone is always surprised when I bring up the whistleblowing thing, which I think is damn shame and a disservice to her legacy.
#the challenger documentary on netflix highlighted this which was cool to see#good watch if you havent seen it. bleak af and infuriating but good watch nonetheless#we do womens trivia at work for our summer picnic and it always hurts me that people dont know sally rise#ride#like if you know alan shepherd john glenn and neil armstrong you should know sally ride!!

fic writers in the tags tell me the fic you're most proud of writing. any fandom, ship, no ship, any length etc. whatever work makes you go "oh i wrote this" and elaborate why if you want
#both wherever im with you and overdue for a revival#which are two of my less popular fics but something about the character studies in those really get me

People who spend all their time posting the “correct” progressive beliefs but then refuse to vote are so weird.
It feels like that very Christian mentality that Believing the Correct Beliefs is all you have to do, and you don’t actually need to get involved in the world around you, and in fact attempting to Do Anything in the physical world rather than philosophizing endlessly would make you morally impure. It’s the Trolley Problem— doing something that causes less harm means you have to do something, but people don’t like to feel they have any agency.
It’s also weird that people think not voting means not participating in the system or not being complicit in it— like, dude!! If you live in America, you are already complicit. You will continue to be complicit.
Some of these people try to “buy indulgences” via donating to charity or gofundmes— but the reality is that charity is a bandage over wounds that don’t need to exist. you can donate as much as you want but it won’t solve the underlying problems, it’ll just put a bandaid over them. There will always be another gofundme or charity drive as long as the actual government policies creating the environment for them continue to exist.
Tl: Dr: it’s The “Leftists” Who Don’t Do Anything.
I am very confident that you are what you do, not just what you believe. And I have a lot of negative feelings towards people who Believe The Correct Things but don’t actually do anything to help because they treat government as a philosophy game fandom discourse about who is the most Morally Pure. If your leftist group is planning to overthrow the government tomorrow, fine, but otherwise you have a moral obligation to reduce the amount of harm the government causes.
#wheres that one poem#its tempting to let the haunted house burn but there are children inside#literally go vote

I'm sure many people have already shared this here, but I think it's important that people here on Tumblr need to see this.
"I disagree with Kamala's position on the war in Gaza. How can I vote for her?" by US Senator Bernie Sanders

Tim snorts behind him. “Sorry, I’ll let you lose in peace.” “Like you’re any better,” Kon scoffs, half in annoyance and half just to watch the cocky smirk curl across Tim’s face as he’s enticed over by the challenge. “Move over,” Tim orders, plucking the controller from Kon’s hands. - Tim was a boy. Kon was also a boy. Can I make it any more obvious? Some casual bickering while playing video games leads Kon to claim that Tony Hawk isn't actually that good at skating, and well. Tim took that personally.

Another AO3 thing I’m curious about, how do yall decide if something is good enough to read? Usually I follow a rule of 1 kudos for every 10 hits. One because it’s easy math and two it’s yet to fail me. Thoughts? Do you just go for it and pray it’s good?
