NEW YORK (AP) — New York Attorney General Letitia James on Monday told hospitals that they would be violating state law if they stop offering gender-affirming care for people under age 19 in response to an executive order from President Donald Trump aimed at curtailing federal funding for such treatments.
In a letter, James, a Democrat, told health care facilities that refusing to provide the treatments would violate New York’s anti-discrimination laws.
“Regardless of the availability of federal funding, we write to further remind you of your obligations to comply with New York State laws,” her letter reads.
Everyone say thank you to NY Attorney General Letitia James!!!

As we see a barrage of evil executive orders come in, they are not immediately enforceable and will takes months or years to implement.
That’s still not great, but don’t let these pile up to the point of hopelessness. Take a breath, and look community leaders who will fight it every step of the way.

Warnings: Child sexual abuse, rape culture
Thank you to FD Signifier for commenting on this:
Youtuber DJ Akademiks was recently exposed by a video where he and several other influential men in the music and streaming industry tried to pressure a 15-year-old boy into discussing sexually explicit topics, proposed setting him up with a sex worker, and then asked his opinion on whether one of those men should have sex with him instead.
And the 15-year-old showed how far we've come in helping kids set boundaries. He just kept saying no. To this chat full of important and powerful men who could help him achieve the career he dreams about. He kept saying: I'm 15. I'm a kid. It's weird for you to be so interested in the sex life of a teenage boy.
And FD says what I'm thinking: A lot of people are shocked and appalled because "Who would ever do something like that?" and "I can't believe something like this actually happened."
And like, really, y'all?
I'm with FD. This isn't one guy being a weirdo. (Like, it is, but it isn't). It's extremist behaviour, but it's still a natural extension of patriarchy we live under. The sexual abuse of boys rests on the bedrock of how patriarchy pressures them to prove their manhood and win the approval and acceptance of adult men.
I've heard stories like that all the time. From men in my family, male friends, male counselling clients, and scientific research on how common this shit is, what it looks like, and how damaging it is.
youtube
The fact is, a lot of this shit is so common that everyone will excuse and ignore it. DJ Akademiks himself has a history of sexual violence towards women. It took video evidence of a teenage boy clearly resisting him for large numbers of people to stop supporting him, and even that was probably because in the midst of his abuse and grooming, he threatened to have sex with the boy himself.
And that finally did it because lot of people out there are convinced that the real groomers and abusers are those queer degenerate perverts out there. Their logic goes; Talking about sex with women = regular locker room talk, boys will be boys, teaching him to be a man! What's abusive about that??? Women can't abuse men, after all.
They think it's only abusive grooming when it's gay. Or trans. That it's not "grooming" to use massive social pressures and personal relationships with adults a kid trusts to make sure he is cis and straight and not a challenge to the patriarchy he lives in. Conveniently, it's only grooming when it challenges the patriarchy, in which case it's not about consent or autonomy; it's because encouraging any sort of queer shit is ipso facto bad.
I'm gonna stop here before I start frothing at the mouth. Sorry for not writing as well as I could have. It's just, if my apartment had wallpaper I'd be peeling it off in strips with my fingernails right now. I hate this shit so much.
If you've experienced sexual violence as a man and want support, 1in6.org is a society for male survivors of sexual abuse and it has a phone number (1-800-656-4673) and a chat feature you can go to.

When you say you're anti-CAM what does that mean? Like what does CAM mean in that context? I genuinely haven't seen that acronym before and I'm assuming you aren't anti-camming as in like the form of sex work
Complimentary and Alternative Medicine.
I am capable of turning off my inner annoying atheist, I am incapable of turning off my inner annoying quackwatcher.
I have had real life fights with people I genuinely love about this and I do not regret it. I will absolutely not regret shitting all over someone's $500 herbalist certification.

I'm seeing people complain about the quality of tiktok now, and yeah it's arguably worse and lives are not as frequent. And it feels mildly off now.
That's the point.
This is a common horror trope known as 'came back wrong' which is often used in stories where someone brings back the dead like Pet Semetary or where someone gets infected/corrupted/controlled/replaced by something sinister like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The trope relies on subtly showcasing the afflicted subject behaving or speaking in a manner they didn't before. It often builds, the longer we see the subject the more off they feel. Characters around may notice and voice this observation only to be told they are paranoid or trying to discredit the success of whoever brought them back. Eventually it becomes obvious the subject has come back evil or intent on causing harm and by then it's too late.
If you're noticing this vibe change on tiktok, good! It means you're aware that the app changed in the 12 hours it was down here in the U.S. I'm already seeing content violations roll out for creators with rainbows in their pfps... The quality is different likely because there's more eyes looking for content to censor. It's going to be slow at first, but don't be surprised if you stop seeing certain creators altogether as the days go by. Don't dismiss people warning about being forced to follow pages you would never interact with. Tiktok has indeed 'come back wrong' and we can sense it. Do not trust the app.
The old tiktok is dead, it's best to continue to move on to other platforms. Use this time to make sure you're following everyone in their other chosen spaces. Don't pretend there's nothing weird there... and conisder deleting your account while you have the chance. This isn't a coincidence, this is intentional and you should fear what other changes the app goes through.

if you're aware of the Vulture article on Neil Gaiman, there's not much i can add; if you aren't and you go looking, my only advice is that if you hit a point where you're wondering if you should bail, do so, because the details of his behavior only get more vile as it goes along.
however, one thing i WILL say is to be on the lookout for smear campaigns against the sources and/or the journalist, Lila Shapiro, in the coming weeks and months. i cannot stress enough how brave this article is. if there's one thing more hazardous to your reputation than blowing up a rich and influential serial predator in the entertainment industry, it's making the church of scientology look bad, and she's managed to do both in one stroke. remember Lila Shapiro's name, and be extremely skeptical if it suddenly turns up later this year as the target of some slimy allegation.

So I just read an article by screen rant about whether or not 8020 belong in the dark pictures anthology... because it is a scifi set in space...
Now I don't know about you lot, but last I checked.... Its the Dark Pictures ANTHOLOGY
And for those that didn't get the clue, an anthology is a group of stories that are not connected! Each game is based around a different story set in a different genre of horror! Saying 8020 is jumping the shark because its set in a different setting than the rest of the ANTHOLOGY is so stupid!
Also, what the fuck counts as "jumping the shark" in an, ahem, ANTHOLOGY SERIES?!
Is Little Hope jumping the shark because it involves an all American cast while the others have one character that isn't? Is Man of Medan jumping the shark because its set in the ocean instead of on land? Is HOA jumping the shark because its set during war time? No! Because it is, and get this folks...
A FUCKING ANTHOLOGY!!!
Also, saying 8020 is jumping the gun because of being in space and having scifi themes... why are we not calling out HOA too? Because, last I checked, the vampires are aliens.... from space! HOA has multiple scifi themes yet they don't complain about that, in fact they glaze it like Moses held it alongside the ten commandments! Go on, ask any HOA fan their opinions on the scifi theme in the game... if you can pull HOAs dick out their mouth...
If you want to set aside the very valid excuse of it being an anthology of stories with their own narratives, genres and themes. You can take a moment to go, oh yeah scifi isn't new to TDPA.
Also, just to add on, its a brand new season full of new stories! Emphasis on NEW! Are they gonna complain when Winterfold forest is set in, you guessed it, Winterfold forest? A forest in the UK? Are the going to complain about Craven man being about possibly cultish rituals, because we've never had a cult before? What about O'death because its centred around the Curator (possibly)?
All in all, 8020 being considered out of place is fucking stupid and nonsensical because it doesn't matter and has no impact because, guess what? IT IS AN ANTHOLGY! What should matter is if you enjoy the game, no if its fits in to a set theme that never existed in the first place!
Conclusion? The article was stupid and creates a problem that never existed... and that its writer, that's you Derek, has yet to discover that the wikipedia or dictionary page on the word anthology is free obtain.
