Here’s a story:
So I met The 1975 properly on 12/15/15 at their listening party where I also requested “Nana” and it was the first time being played. It’s such a special song that really wrenches your heart from the rawness and ache of losing someone. :( The listening party felt like a bunch of friends hanging out listening to good music! Matty even talked about the 11 yr olds band Pesky’s album being his favorite of the year…then I said out loud “Smells Like Tween Spirit” (the album name) and he said to me, “Oh! You listen to them too?!” I also told Matty I was photographing the show that night. He seemed so excited for me and said he’d wave at me for a photo and so when he saw me in the photo pit that night, he walked over to me and stopped to pose for some dramatic silhouette photos (above) and waved like he said he would. I was really nervous about photographing that night but Matty treating me like we were old friends made me feel SO comfortable in my photographic environment. We kept smiling and laughing at each other because I was like the only photographer singing and dancing hahaha. I’m just so grateful I got to represent a band that means so much to me and that they treat their fans so well. Thanks so much x
