okay so. reppcomm hard contact made me write my 'i love you star wars ' kind of post and i got cool star wars mutuals from that and then posted nothing original relating to star wars for. like 6 months. apologies gang but um this book really fulfilled what i wanted to see and hear about the clones so i am going to yap about this drawing so yes !

the scene that i specifically drew stood out to me because this is where darman and etain really sit down and be a little bit vulnerable. darman has this really interesting monologue going and etain starts with her whole 'dont call me commander im not a good jedi spiel'. darman is really thrown off by etain - she's the first girl he's met properly, she completely overthrew what he thought he knew about the jedi in about two sentences and he eventually starts caring for someone who isn't a clone. with etain i think the very innocent, very insecure and girlish kind of vibe is really pushed by the novel and i enjoyed seeing her start to come into her own by the end of the book. i tried (???) kind of getting the same vibe across in my drawing so yeah ! also the quote that guided me the most with how she looks was:

“Her face was a study in blank surprise. It was also fascinating in a way he couldn't define. He had never seen a human female this close, this real. He was astonished by the dappling of small brown dots across the bridge of her nose and her cheeks, and the different strands of colors in her long, unkempt hair-light browns, golds, even reds. And she was as thin as the locals. He could see blue veins in the backs of her hands, and she smelled different from anyone he'd ever shared space with. He wasn't sure if she was pretty or downright ugly. He just knew she was utterly alien and utterly fascinating, as alien as a gdan or a Gurlanin. It was almost stopping him from concentrating on the job.”

this quote is actually from the exact scene i drew. thinking about it now i would've liked to give more of an unkempt vibe to her but um maybe next time ? she doesn't look very unkempt-girl-on-the-run in the official art so... also i'm totally assuming that shes like 19 or so given that darman is 20-21 biologically. please don't ask me about the background i dont even want to start eugh i need to practice building environments and texture. anyways when i get my art tablet to mildly agreeable again i will in fact be drawing darman i have SO many thoughts and quotes about him 🙂‍↕️
