California’s new law requires baby food manufacturers to test their products for contaminants like lead and arsenic – and publicly report the results. While many companies are providing easily-accessible test results on their websites, Consumer Reports and the nonprofit Unleaded Kids found that five of the country’s top store-label brands from Walmart, Target, Kroger, Aldi and Albertson’s are among the worst at providing this important information for parents.
Exposure to these toxic elements such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury have been linked to serious developmental harm in infants and toddlers. Join us in calling on these five companies to make their test results accessible and easy to find on their websites, so all parents have vital information to make informed choices when it comes to feeding their children.

“I need the wolves to respond and know that, hey, humans are bad,” a US Department of Agriculture district supervisor in Oregon told the WSJ. His teams employ “drone cowhands, whose quadcopters have thermal cameras that can reveal any wolf lurking in the darkness”. The predator is then spotlit and treated to audio blasted over a loudspeaker. Aside from Baumbach-scripted acid insults, tracks include fireworks, gunshots and AC/DC’s Thunderstruck.
The practice is know as “wolf hazing” and is employed rather than culling as grey wolves are on the federal government’s list of endangered species.
Happily, Driver and Johansson’s Academy Award-nominated performances have proved just as impactful for canines as humans.
“Drones were deployed in the Klamath Basin of southern Oregon after 11 cows were killed by wolves there in a 20-day period,” reports the WSJ. “Over the next 85 days, when drones were on patrol, only two were killed.”

Tell the SBA: Elon Musk Isn’t a Disadvantaged Business
Neuralink, Elon Musk’s brain-chip startup, filed as a “small disadvantaged business” on April 24, a designation reserved for companies genuinely owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Yet Musk, one of the world’s wealthiest people, stands to distort this program’s original purpose. This isn't government scrutiny — this is misuse of a program meant to uplift minority- and woman-owned small businesses. The DOJ has previously fined companies for making false claims about SDB status. Neuralink’s filing came just weeks before its $9 billion valuation — raising urgent questions about whether this timing was strategic. Even more concerning: Musk was actively dismantling federal agency capacity at DOGE, including diversity, equity, and inclusion funding, while positioning Neuralink to benefit from those same systems. There’s no federal investigation into Neuralink, but DOJ precedent makes clear what should happen next. The Small Business Administration, under Kelly Loeffler, and President Donald Trump must act before any benefits are awarded. They should revoke Neuralink’s filing, launch a DOJ review, and issue fines for any fraudulent claims. If we do nothing, this sends a dangerous message: billionaire CEOs can hijack programs built to uplift communities for their own gain. We deserve better—our small businesses do, too. We need action now—tell the SBA and President Trump: revoke Neuralink’s SDB filing, launch a DOJ review, and stop this misuse — before it’s too late.

The City of Atlanta Georgia has decided to demolish the research and conservation center of the Amphibian Foundation. This organization works tirelessly to conserve the Frogs, Toads, Salamanders, Newts, and other amphibians in the United States. In addition, they provide key education for herpetologists on the care, conservation, and preservation of reptiles and amphibians.
This emergency need is compounded by the government mass firing of conservation officials and the pulling of funds from many of the country's conservation organizations.
If you can help please donate here:
Key points from the Amphibian Foundation.
Our building will be demolished in 2026, and we need to identify a new location (or locations) for 7 labs and over 1,000 animals, many of which are endangered and part of critical conservation programs.
We've identified a new location for most of AF, but not our research and conservation programs. We have an amazing lead, but it's not confirmed yet.
Our first fundraising project is the AF Emergency Fund as the minimum cost estimates to move this many labs and animals safely is $50,000. (It costs about 50 USD per animal to move them)

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin declared this repeal “the largest deregulatory action in American history.” That is not hyperbole. This move would erase decades of climate progress, cripple future administrations from enforcing basic environmental protections, and hand the fossil fuel industry a blank check to pollute with impunity. It is reckless, deadly, and deeply immoral.
But the states can fight back right now. California and Oregon have already committed to continuing their greenhouse gas regulations regardless of what the federal government does. Every Governor and Attorney General in this country must now step forward, join this effort, and file suit to block the EPA’s proposed repeal before it becomes law.

Trump’s order claims to be in response to national security concerns, but that’s plainly ridiculous. Elon Musk and Donald Trump don’t like that AFGE is standing up for their members against attempts to politicize the civil service, chaotically fire federal employees, and cut services to the American people. These federal workers have had union rights since before America went to the moon. A union nurse at the VA isn’t a threat to national security.

there is no federal law that specifically prohibits someone from making an AI fake of your voice without your consent – the Federal Trade Commission has prohibited the impersonation of government officials and businesses, but not individuals. Join us in urging the FTC to extend these protections to all Americans, and for law enforcement to investigate voice cloning apps and hold companies accountable if they harm consumers!

Guys, it got so much freaking worse. KOSA is bad, but SCREEN is even worse, somehow.
"Sen. Mike Lee has introduced the SCREEN ACT, a bill that applies the "harmful to minors" standard used to ban LGBTQ+ books and resources in schools and libraries and apply it nationally to the internet.
Any site that has any amount of material "harmful to minors" would be forced to employ surveillance tech (biometric scans, ID uploads, background checks) to prevent minors from accessing "pornography."
You will not be surprised to learn that this is backed by the Heritage Foundation.
Unlike some of the state age-verification laws, many of which are being challenged in court, SC will be enforced by the FTC, which has the ability to levy fines, raid business and freeze bank accounts. Yes, meaning that even non-for-profits like Ao3 will suffer.
This is something for all US users to keep on their radar. Call your reps, call your senators, and spread the word to protect our archive!"
- When talking with Republicans play up the fact that this would force Elon to implement age verification systems on X (yes do call it X during the call). Elon's been threatening to primary Republicans who stand in his way so there's fear of him. Also play up concerns about "Liberals" doxxing people or Chinese hackers.
- When talking with Democrats, play up the connections to Project 2025 and suggest voters will not be happy to see Democrats siding with it.

Hey, we've got another public comment period with a rapidly approaching deadline here in the United States! Short version is that the Department of Agriculture, which manages the U.S. Forest Service, has severely curtailed its obligation to public outreach and comment on its activities, to include timber sales and environmental impact reports. The foundation of a democracy is in the power of the voices of the people, and this decision circumvents our ability to give feedback on Forest Service decisions.
That means that it will be easier for the Forest Service to clearcut old-growth forests regardless of the ecological impact, and make it easier for profiteers to exploit the natural resources of these publicly owned lands. This decision was made to benefit the few, not the many, and it's blatantly obvious.
The deadline to make a public comment on this disastrous decision is August 4. Please get the word out!

OMB Director Russell Vought told the Senate Appropriations Committee that PEPFAR sent millions of dollars to Russia to advise doctors on how to perform abortions & “gender analysis," but the global AIDS relief program has not operated in Russia since 2012.
Lying to Congress is a crime. Yet even after Vought--Trump's budget chief and the architect of Project 2025--was caught making false statements and compelled to remove the cuts to PEPFAR from the rescissions bill, he has continued to dodge accountability: “We had good reasons to put the recision up that we did, but you have to make adjustments along the way,” he told reporters outside the White House.
Tell the Senate to hold Vought accountable for lying to Congress and demand his resignation.

Online retailer Etsy is selling numerous, offensive hats and t-shirts promoting the dehumanization of our immigrant relatives being caged at Alligator Alcatraz.
Their designs include caricatures of alligators wearing ICE gear, images of alligators and the American flag, and vacation-themed Florida Everglades t-shirts -- all while hundreds of people are being denied legal representation, medical care, and food.
It’s not funny or clever. To glorify this inhumane treatment of our immigrant relatives with t-shirts, buttons, stickers, and more is an affront to not only the Constitution, but to human decency.
Built just 1,100 feet from a traditional Miccosukee village and within three miles of 11 Miccosukee and Seminole villages and ceremonial grounds, Alligator Alcatraz violates civil rights, human rights, rights to due process, environmental laws, and Tribal sovereignty.
We can’t allow corporations to profit off of human suffering and exploitation.
