TTW Claire Underwood finally turns and addresses the camera is INT asfuck.
“Just to be clear, it’s not that I haven’t always known that you were there. It’s that I have mixed feelings about you. I question your intentions. And, I’m ambivalent about attention. But don’t take it personally. It’s how I feel about most everybody.”

no, extroverts, YOU suck at collaboration.
extrovert: *quickly makes lots of changes to INFJ’s work* “Here’s my feedback on this piece, it’s really great!!” *feels highly productive, lots is being accomplished through collaboration* INFJ: *examines how extrovert has obliterated her carefully researched creative strategy* “Uh...thank you so much...” *rewrites back to the original strategy, taking twice as long, one day’s worth of productivity gone*

let’s be honest though, millennial hate is totally a thing rich folks started because they’re pissed that we have really unpredictable consumer habits and it isn’t as easy to get us to buy into stuff, so they’re mad we aren’t just money giving/traditional economy supporting machines like they expected us to be
like look at how much millennial hate articles are things like “millennials aren’t eating cereal and it’s hurting the cereal industry” or “millennials aren’t buying houses and that’s bad” or “millennials #1 utmost priority isn’t trying to make as much money as possible” and rich folks are mad about it, so just posturing our unpredictability/nontraditional values as “laziness” gets everyone else on board the hate train in some weird attempt to collectively subdue us

pour me out, let me seep between the floorboards and pool into the water table below. let me be filtered, impure- ities trapped by rock and root. let me be born again, pure in the deep cold earth below. this vessel is confining not only my shape but my volume humans are like gasses, ex- panding to every nook and cranny, but like a liquid in our density the way we flow heavy when our vessel is broken lifeless without form sinking into the dark and free.

Quote
The 'greatest good for the greatest number' applies to the number within the womb of time, compared to which those now alive form but an insignificant fraction. Our duty to the whole, including the unborn generations, bids us restrain an unprincipled present-day minority from wasting the heritage of these unborn generations. The movement for the conservation of wild life and the larger movement for the conservation of all our natural resources are essentially democratic in spirit, purpose, and method.

independence night
thunder is everywhere. unrest is in the ground and in the skies acrid, and unnatural it stops the heart brilliant so beautiful so dangerous again, and a g a i n then (gasp) stop. cries, quickly eaten by silence.

When Spring unfolds the beechen leaf, and sap is in the bough; When light is on the wild-wood stream, and wind is on the brow; When stride is long, and breath is deep, and keen the mountain-air, Come back to me! Come back to me, and say my land is fair! - the Ents

love song for a foundry rat
you were forged some where from earth, to dusty iron, to liquid the color of the sun setting for the last time (it’s your favorite color, and the color hovering just beneath your marble skin.) your shape is what i love best your sprue, just here, the jut of your jaw, the tight tolerance between the space it takes for you to catch my atten- tion and make me gasp. poured from flame to porous sand, you became solid in the dark the grain of you is pock-marked by a seashore of silicon and air, yet smooth in my hands heavy and cold like a dragon’s egg.

Oh god, I just realized how meta this is. This alienating essay is about why I’m so alienated in communities.
Thank you, Internet therapy.

Easter: a reflection
I. in childhood it was the palm fronds
the Sunday before Christ died, when
he was embraced by the city
paraded through streets like a jungle of hope
    feet above the ground.
the church aisles were strewn with them
their vivid green against the yellow sun
    light from the tall,
      arching windows which
      embraced the pews
      like ribs around a belly.
it was the palm fronds
we waved them, child & adult,
    to one another
    Hosanna, we cried
    in the highest heaven. II.
in adolescence, it was the ocean
its cold brine waves crashing against the
    rocks at dawn
a verdant cluster of believers huddled
  around the rising of the
    sun
no structure to house the light
  pouring into the Sound.
    Halleluia, we whispered,
    he is risen.
III.
now, it’s the memory of the tomb
a hushed and unleavened meal, then
    the silent procession
the pastor tells the murder story that’s been
told two thousand years and telling:
all light goes out. the gates
    slam shut.
in darkness, we say nothing.

Took a quick visit to D&L Laughlin family farm this afternoon. The seedlings and clones are just starting, but a few strawberries were already sweet.
