I really really miss the show when they didnt prioritize the crazy over the top storylines above the narrative of the story and the character arcs, relationships, personal development and personal journey of the show and the characters

honestly every time i think i’m over s1-2 and have accepted that we’re onto the 7th and final season and the show is completely different now and so many of our fave characters and dynamics and ships are gone, but then i get sucked back in by the nostalgia every. single. time. i miss when raven reyes had the compelling storyline that she deserves in s2! i miss kyle wick! i miss wicken! i miss s2 octavia blake! i miss the blake sibling relationship when it was healthy in s2! i miss lincoln kom trikru being alive and not being shoved aside in the story! i miss the amount of effort and care they put into clarke’s s2 arc! i miss the murphy x jaha dynamic in s2! i miss jonty! i miss minty! i miss entirely unexpected moments like john murphy–who was a complete asshole in s1–falling for an orphan girl with a deformed hand and calling it badass! i miss the time before abby and kane were romantic and were actually interesting individual characters! i miss bellamy blake repelling down a cliff with rope made from scraps to save a girl he’s never even met before! i miss when bellamy and clarke running around trying to keep the 100 alive, both in s1 and 2, was what drove the narrative of this story! i miss when the plot was compelling and not over the top! i miss when the characters and their arcs and relationships were prioritized! i miss the 100! i miss it every fucking day and i want it back!

listen. l i s t e n. listen. kudos does not equal quality. popularity does not equal quality. i have read some “fandom classics” that i could barely fathom how boring or terrible i - personally - found them, and i have stumbled across some absolute gems that didn’t even break 100 kudos. 

what is good doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves. it’s sad, but true. just because you haven’t - or possibly never take - off in fandom doesn’t mean your work isn’t astounding and beautiful, it doesn’t mean you should stop writing; it just means that a very select corner of the internet missed the diamond in the rough. 

fanfiction is flooded with content, there are so many of us out there producing it these days, and having a fic that takes off is almost as much about luck as it is about talent. never let a few artificial numbers on the internet dictate to you what is and isn’t worthy writing. 

additionally, you don’t have to read or enjoy fics just bcs they’re big. i cannot count the amount of times i’ve read the first paragraph of something fandom adores and immediatly exited out of it.

just… do what makes you happy. write what you wanna write, read what you wanna read. understand that while we all want recognition - and some deserve it more than others - we did not get into fanfiction for that recognition.

recognition is good, but sometimes we get all tangled up chasing it and stop enjoying writing and reading and fandom as a whole along the way. be careful of that, please, or you’ll burn yourself out.

Unpopular opinion: I love Bob Morley with all my heart (this is not the unpopular part), but actors frustrated with storylines (?) being shady, cryptic and passive aggressive on Twitter doesn't feel right for me. Keep it in the house, talk to the showrunner, it's not for the audience I think.

Look at it from Bob’s perspective. This has nothing to do with screentime, not agreeing with storylines or ships. Bob doesn’t ship. It’s not about that. It’s about Bob, the actor, doing his job and then getting told in an interview basically “oops, you didn’t do your job”. Because that’s literally what it sounds like.

Bob has been told by his boss, Jason, to play Bellamy a certain way. Bob has read the scripts and acted out what was expected of him. The show was edited a certain way. The audience then got to see the episodes and followed the story on screen.

Bob’s boss then goes out and publicly states that the audience misinterpreted the storyline and what was happening on screen didn’t actually happen. Two things are happening here.

One, it is disrespectful to Bob as an actor to read in an interview how he basically didn’t do his job and acted out something that wasn’t Jason’s intention. Bob who has stated that he has literally read lines in the script saying “Bellamy looks at Clarke lovingly”. Bob, who has called out Jason at different times, always in a joking matter, like at SDCC in 2015 when Jason refused to deny Bellarke and Bob said “oh, we’re playing that game now, are we”. That was what Bob called out; “so you tell me one thing in private and then you tell the audience something else in interviews?” Bob as an actor follows Jason’s vision. Just like the writers room all have to follow Jason’s vision. So why is Jason going out in public stating that the story was misinterpreted? Why has Bob been given direction by the showrunner, by the writers, by the directors to take Bellamy down a certain path, only to then be told that it… wrong? My interpretation of Bob’s reaction is not “oh so Bellarke is not real” but “why are you telling me, your actor, a certain vision, then going out in public saying that wasn’t your vision making me look bad as an actor because apparently I haven’t been doing my job, even though you told me to do it this way”.

And second, it is disrespectful to the audience. There’s a big difference between not giving out spoilers and literally gaslighting your audience. Especially when it’s done at the expense of your male lead actor, putting him in a position where his acting is somehow blamed or at fault for how the audience interpreted the storyline. It strips Jason of any responsibility when it comes to the writing (Bob only acted what the script said), direction given to his actor (making it seem like Bob didn’t do his job), the editing (as if the show wasn’t edited to look a certain way).

It’s not about if Bob cares if Bellamy and Clarke kiss or not. It’s not about if he agrees with a storyline/screentime. It’s about Bob, whatever the storyline is, being told one thing and then basically having his boss throw him under the bus in a way, in interviews. Whether or not Bob has spoken with Jason about this in private too, we don’t know. But I appreciate Bob for being real and for standing up for himself as an actor and the audience.

Why the fuck is Clarke Griffin not allowed to be fucking pissed and bitter to the people that have caused her so much pain, who canonically betrayed her, mistreated her, reduced her, judged her in the worst way possible, the same people for whom she has saved again and again and continues to save pt1

I’m sorry I didn’t get your part 2. You’re 100% right. I’ve had problems with Clarke in the past. I pretty much hated her in season 3 and the bomb drop on Ton DC in season 2 really bothered me too but idk how at this point anyone can feel anything other than sad for Clarke. She’s been through more trauma than anyone else on the show and the fandom makes her out to be this demon woman.

That clash/clecho hug really was the last straw for me. I know some people liked it but it really exemplified the way that the writers are treating Clarke as this kind of non person. The last major scene that they shared together echo was strangling Clarke in front of her daughter and the people who were once their friends and I keep hearing like “oh but echo likes Clarke!” Or “echo respects Clarke!” Ok well that may be the case but what about Clarke’s feelings in that situation? Why is clarke accepting a hug from the woman who almost made her daughter watch her mother be strangled to death?

There’s been this disconnect with the writers with Clarke and humanity. Like she doesn’t behave like a human anymore. They’ve made her into this living legend bad ass but they’ve completely gotten rid of her ability to feel 90% of her emotions unless it specifically impacts another character. Her emotions are for other characters consumption.

And antis treat her with such a double standard. They love to bring up echo or Octavia’s trauma as reason for why they act the way they do but they delegitimize Clarke’s in every single argument they make.

Tl;dr: Clarke deserves better and we’re kidnapping jroth to make it happen. We ride at dawn.

and also might I add that theres also one very very important fact and that is that if you think about it

One of the main reasons as to why the 100 where sent to the ground was bc the air was running out and who wasted like 3 months worth of oxygen for a very very unnecessary space walk which I might also add she let Finn take the blame for (also I know that it was his idea and he wanted to take the fall bc he was underage and she wasn’t but still she didn’t have to go out and actually go on the space walk and risk it) but yet again she doesn’t feel the repercussions of her actions..... yeah I guess she knows its her fault that finn ended up in lockup and visits him while he’s there and then tries to go to the ground for him

Raven needs a better motivation.

Unpopular opinion: I’m sick of Raven’s self-righteousness. 

Don’t get me wrong, I think she’s a badass gorgeous genius. But the only reason her humanity is intact is because other characters (esp. Clarke) sacrificed theirs.

Season 1: 

Raven built the bomb that blew up the bridge and started the war.

Raven, basically, single-handedly armed the 100.

Raven helped Clarke launch the dropship, killing hundreds of Grounders. 

Season 2: 

Raven admitted that Clarke made the best choice in killing Finn. She understood it would have been way worse for him otherwise.

She was in the dungeons, getting tortured and would have been killed if Clarke hadn’t made the (really difficult) choice to save her own people at the expense of the Mountain Men. 

Season 3: 

Raven chose to take the Key. I know she ended up basically defeating ALIE, but that doesn’t take back that, when the chips were down, she chose relief from pain over what she knew in her heart was the right choice (a choice Clarke has never once considered making). 

Season 4: 

RAVEN LITERALLY TOLD CLARKE THAT SHE WOULDN’T MAKE THE LIST OF PEOPLE TO SAVE.

This one I ABSOLUTELY have to stress, because 1) Of all the people, RAVEN would know exactly who needed to be on the Ark in order to survive 5 years, and 2) She obviously KNOWS how hard these choices are, and yet she DEMANDS that Clarke be the one to make them. 

This is the moment I stopped giving Raven credit. She does not get to blame Clarke for following through on decisions she refused to make. 

Season 5: (My reasons during season 5 apply to all the Spaceventure Squad)

Clarke sacrificed herself.

She had ONE person on Earth.

When they came back to Earth, they treated her like she wasn’t part of their family anymore, that Madi wasn’t part of their family and was therefore expendable.

To Clarke, Madi is NOT expendable. She is FAMILY.

If they’re going to justify everything they do by “we’re protecting our family”, Clarke gets to use the same justification.

God, I hope they give Raven something better to do than blame Clarke for making the decisions she was fully capable of making but didn’t want to.

1] The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun! , braid, or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2] The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women who’s clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.

3] They also look for women using their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

4] The number one place women are abducted from / attacked at is grocery store parking lots.

5] Number two is office parking lots/garages.

6] Number three is public restrooms.

7] The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they don’t have to worry about getting caught.

1] If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what time is it, or make general small talk: can’t believe it is so cold out here, we’re in for a bad winter. Now that you’ve seen their faces and could identify them in a line- up, you lose appeal as a target.

2] If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell Stop or Stay back! Most of the rapists this man talked to said they’d leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

3] If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.

4] If someone grabs you, you can’t beat them with strength but you can do it by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and armpit or in the upper inner thigh – HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it really hurts.

5] After the initial hit, always go for the groin. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy’s parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you’ll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause him a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and he’s out of there.

6] When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

7] Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don’t dismiss it, go with your instincts. You may feel little silly at the time, but you’d feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

FINALLY, PLEASE REMEMBER THESE AS WELL ….

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it.

2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans : if a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you…. chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won’t see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping,eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON’T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side,put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU CLOSE the DOORS , LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

a. Be aware: look around your car as someone may be hiding at the passenger side , peek into your car, inside the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. ( DO THIS TOO BEFORE RIDING A TAXI CAB) .

b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

c. Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked “for help” into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and it’s better safe than sorry.

Jason saying Murphy will be angry at Clarke next season and be one of the “many” who won’t forgive her easily just makes my blood boil!!!!

The entire storyline of Clarke being pitted as the bad guy and having her character try and “make it up” to all these people just leaves me completely furious and completely confused!!

First of all EVERYONE on this show has done stupid, selfish, bad shit for their own personal reasons!! So Clarke making some bad decisions in order to PROTECT HER DAUGHTER WHO IS A CHILD shouldn’t be that far fetched right???

WRONG!

Because apparently everyone be hating on my Clarke!! And I stand by the person who said on Twitter that the ONLY people allowed to be pissed at Clarke and who she should feel bad about, are MADI (for the shock collar disaster) and of course BELLAMY!!

And what do you know, those are the people who have already forgiven her and moved on.

Raven, Emori, Murphy and that other one I won’t bother naming…they do NOT having ANY grounds to be mad at Clarke.

Shit Raven was gonna let Murphy, Emori and Monty die in 5x13 if not for Bellamy and Clarke making her wait, so so much for loyalty.

Murphy on the other hand… I was just really really holding out hope for some Clurven friendship and that HE (with the Bellamy of course) would be the one to break that isolation and be there for her.
