Tumblr media
CRACKLING VINYL present SEAZOO + TRECCO BEIS
Tuesday, 20th. January 2015, Telford's Warehouse, Chester
On Tuesday, 20th. January 2015, Crackling Vinyl is proud to present another night of brilliant live music and superlative vinyl excellence at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester.
Tickets for SEAZOO + Trecco Beis are £4 in advance from the venue itself (01244 390090) or £4 on the door.
More information on this event’s artists follows:
SEAZOO 2nd single ‘Panda Pains’ available 19th Jan 2015 on Label Fandango https://soundcloud.com/label-fandango/seazoo-panda-pains
SEAZOO is a Welsh bedroom-pop device happening now, consisting of five humans and a charity shop teddy bear.
New single, Panda Pains, will be released on Monday, 19th. January 2015 on Label Fandango (deceptively cute offspring of the legendary Fierce Panda record label).
The single will be launched with a live appearance at Telford’s Warehouse on Tuesday 20th January 2015. Support on the night comes from the hotly-tipped jangledelic South Waleans, Trecco Beis.
Welsh bedroom-pop group SEAZOO formed in April 2013. That summer, they self-recorded and released their debut EP ‘Ken’, gaining BBC and Amazing Radio plays.
Their debut single ‘Dog Hotel’ was released in October and received plays from Huw Stephens on Radio 1 and Steve Lamacq on 6Music!
Think Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Super Furry Animals, Yo La Tengo, Deerhoof and Pavement. All underpinned with the home-recording ethic of Granddaddy.
SEAZOO were on the 12 Horizons artists selected by BBC Wales and the Arts Council of Wales in 2013, leading to festival appearances and a live session at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios.
'This is thoughtful, proper and smart pop (with a wonderful twist of the abstract) in the spirit of Yo La Tengo and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci.' - LOUDER THAN WAR
'The single, Dog Hotel, is a brilliant cross section of the band: lovely naughties guitar, touches of atonality, group vocals, bullfrog-mating-call bass line and spaced-out synths.' - ARTROCKER

Crackling Vinyl began in November 2011 as an excuse for music enthusiasts, Adam Walton, Ben ‘Soundhog’ Hayes and Elin Bach to play their favourite records in their favourite music venue (Telford’s Warehouse, Chester) far away from the weekend madness of endless requests for the kind of R&B that wasn’t pressed on Chess Records.
Crackling Vinyl evolved to encompass live music. They would bring unique and acclaimed artists to Chester for the first time, at a very affordable price: a high quality watermark in a city keen to experience the best, upcoming touring artists.
Crackling Vinyl have DJ’d and compered the Walled Garden stage at Green Man Festival for the last 3 years.
Previous live guests at Crackling Vinyl have included: R. CRACKLING VINYL present GOLDEN FABLE + THE GREAT INDOORS
Tuesday, 2nd. December 2014, Telford's Warehouse, Chester
On Tuesday, 2nd. December 2014, Crackling Vinyl is proud to present another night of brilliant live music and superlative vinyl excellence at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester.
Tickets for Golden Fable + The Great Indoors are £4 in advance from the venue itself (01244 390090) or £4 on the door.
More information on this event’s artists follows:
GOLDEN FABLE
2nd album ‘Ancient Blue’ available now on vinyl / download from link below. https://fullofjoyrecords.bandcamp.com/album/ancient-blue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQNluRDiD94- Golden Fable ‘Breathe In’
Golden Fable are Rebecca Palin, Tim McIver and Jack McCarthy, and together they create music described by The Line Of Best Fit as “nothing short of inspirational”.
Hailing from the foothills of mountainous north Wales, Golden Fable compose their music within its abundant, richly varied landscape. Pairing these organic influences with modern instrumentation, debut album ‘Star Map’, released in 2012, was constructed from electronic beats, synths and processed effects alongside guitars, pianos and strings, resulting in “an incredibly gorgeous dream pop collection” (In Your Speakers).
Twelve months of writing and evolving followed, and the band resurfaced from their creative retreat with second album, ‘Ancient Blue’. Recorded with David Wrench (Bat For Lashes, Caribou) and Jimmy Robertson (Anna Calvi) in Snowdonia, ‘Ancient Blue’ is impassioned, intense and bolder than its predecessor. It is both strident and intimate, reflecting the intrinsic connection between human forces and natural forces.
'Ancient Blue' will be released on November 10th 2014 on Full of Joy Records.

Crackling Vinyl 3rd Birthday Events, Tuesday 11th November...
Tumblr media
CRACKLING VINYL celebrates its 3rd BIRTHDAY on Tuesday, 11th November 2014 at Telford's Warehouse, Chester. To celebrate its 3rd birthday, Crackling Vinyl is putting on two nights of brilliant live music and superlative vinyl excellence at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester for the same price as its inaugural gig in November 2011 (a mere £4). In the last 3 years, Crackling Vinyl has attracted a long list of phenomenal, critically acclaimed artists to Chester for the first time: Cate Le Bon, Sweet Baboo, H. Hawkline, Gulp, Georgia Ruth, Trwbador, The Gentle Good, Richard James, Sex Hands, Colorama, Zervas & Pepper et al. These artists are now mainstays of the 6Music and national BBC playlists, have won notable awards (Georgia Ruth won last year’s Welsh Music Prize), gone on to release lauded albums and play the nation’s biggest festivals (Glastonbury, Green Man, Festival No. 6). In short, Crackling Vinyl brings these artists to Chester at a very affordable price, early on in their ascent, on otherwise moribund Tuesday nights. And this ethos continues on consecutive Tuesdays at the start of November. On Tuesday, 11th. November 2014, Crackling Vinyl is proud to present Tender Prey (Bird Records - a subsidiary of Twisted Nerve / Finders Keepers) and Heavy Petting Zoo (Too Pure Records). Tickets for the gig are £4 in advance from the venue itself (01244 390090) / £4+ booking fee from SeeTickets.com, or £4 on the door. SeeTickets links - http://www.seetickets.com/event/tender-prey-heavy-petting-zoo/telford-s-warehouse/812718 The ‘under the stairs’ record stall is provided by VOD Music from Mold, stocking a choice selection of new vinyl (including reissues). More information on the artists follows:
Tuesday 11th November:
TENDER PREY
1st EP ‘The Tequila Worm’ available now on Bird Records
 https://soundcloud.com/tenderpreymusic
Tender Prey, aka Laura Bryon, is a Cardiff based musician who mixes garage blues, 70’s girl group clangs and lo-fi grooves, to create pocket melodies to dance, drink and wrestle to. She self-released her debut EP 'The Tequila Worm' via bandcamp in June 2014, which garnered her regional and national airplay and a Marc Riley 6Music session. She has recently supported Cate Le Bon and Sweet Baboo on tour and cut her teeth this summer with performances at Festival No 6 and Greenman. Her inaugural album 'Organ Calzone' (recorded by Steve Black (Sweet Baboo) and features Emma Daman Thomas from Islet on drums) will be released on cult label Bird Records / Finders Keepers in 2015. ‘Tender Prey offer plenty of reverb and a dangerous, interesting new take on the blues. If you intend on having a switchblade flight during the course of the weekend, wait for her set to start to ensure correct musical accompaniment.’ - stereoboard.com ‘Ghostly, languorous balladry and a darkly gothic blues whose resplendent charms unfurl casually.’ - joycollective.co.uk
Tumblr media
HEAVY PETTING ZOO
http://heavypettingzoo.co.uk The lively Heavy Petting Zoo are Swansea’s own garage/surf rock group. The band, who all went to the same school as Dylan Thomas (although he was a few years above them), stormed SWN Festival in 2013 with a 9/10 rated set from the NME. This year they have come out with ‘Crash’ the hard hitting single on the esteemed Too Pure Singles Club, whilst a split single with The Joy Formidable is set for release later this year. Make sure you catch them live, where they've built up a reputation for their frenzied shows, including the bewildering and outlandish dancer Jon. Yes, they have a dancer.

CRACKLING VINYL present R. SEILIOG + SPECTRALATE Tuesday, 4th. November 2014, Telford's Warehouse, Chester On Tuesday, 4th. November 2014, Crackling Vinyl is proud to present another night of brilliant live music and superlative vinyl excellence at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester. Tickets for R. More information on this event’s artists follows: R. SEILIOG
1st Album ‘In Hz’ released 1st December 2014 on Turnstile

http://seiliog.com https://soundcloud.com/r-seiliog/velcro-for-vortex
Originating from the pine coned hills of Peniel, North Wales, R.Seiliog is the alias of skewed musician / producer Robin Edwards. Following the warm analog psychedelia of 2012's Shuffles EP, and 2013's Doppler - a wide-eyed homage to Krautrock, prolific outsider Seiliog presents In Hz, an interconnected work of convoluted drone, pulses and Kosmische electronics that tap into woozy flashbacks of ’90s house, minimal techno and avant-garde. Listen to and embed ‘Velcro For Vortex’, taken from the album, now: https://soundcloud.com/r-seiliog/velcro-for-vortex
Inspired by Pierre Schaeffer's Solfège De L'Objet Sonore, alternative tunings and the alchemy of resonance. Could In Hz’s perplexing sonic tapestry be the outsider de-tuning to the primordial Om? R.Seiliog has built a formidable reputation from live gigs across the country; he recently remixed the title track of Manic Street Preachers’ album Futurology at the band’s request. In a recent interview with the Quietus, Manics frontman James Dean Bradfield said 2013’s Doppler “really gave me inspiration when we were finishing Futurology... it's just one of those records that I absolutely love.” R.Seiliog plays an In Hz launch gig in London on Wednesday December 10th at the Waiting Rooms in Stoke Newington. SPECTRALATE
http://www.spectralate.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y5EM9XMyk8 Spectralate are Alan Holmes (Ectogram, Fflaps, The Serpents et al.) and Annie Pye. Alan is one of the most highly regarded experimental music makers in Wales. Annie Pye is a refreshingly original songwriter whose preference for a Spanish guitar, played in her own inimitable style, is just one of the factors that sets her music apart. CRACKLING VINYL present SILENT SLEEP + VERA VAN HEERINGEN Tuesday, 7th. October 2014, in Telford's Warehouse, Chester. On Tuesday, 7th. October 2014, Crackling Vinyl is proud to present another night of brilliant live music and superlative vinyl excellence at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester. Tickets for Silent Sleep + Vera Van Heeringen are £6 in advance from the venue itself (01244 390090) / £6+ booking fee from SeeTickets.com, or £7 on the door. SeeTickets link - http://www.seetickets.com/event/silent-sleep-vera-van-heeringen/telford-s-warehouse/812711 More information on this event’s artists follows: SILENT SLEEP Debut album ‘Walk Me To The Sea’ available now on vinyl / download from link below. http://silentsleep.bandcamp.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT4A2D9_C9Y - Silent Sleep ‘You Can Colour Me In’ Silent Sleep is the current music project of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter / producer Christopher McIntosh, who played in Liverpool bands 28 Costumes and Hallo...I Love You! Silent Sleep started whilst he was living in Berlin, Germany in 2010, writing a handful of  heartbreakingly beautiful songs during the long, bleak winter. In that time he gained a loyal fan base by playing gigs in the dive bars and cafes of Neukolln.  He also self-released 3 EPs entitled  ‘This Scissor Disaster Parts 1, 2 and 3’, each of them selling out of their limited-edition handmade runs. In 2012, Chris decided to return to his hometown of Liverpool to make his first proper record. A PledgeMusic campaign was launched to fund the recording sessions and 3 months later he was in the studio with long-time collaborator / producer Robert Whiteley (Clinic, The Wombats, Mugstar) recording his debut album, Walk Me To The Sea. The songs written in Berlin were fleshed out and coloured in using a heavy artillery of instruments including trumpets, violin, cello, harmonium, euphonium, vibraphone, glockenspiel and percussion and layers upon layers of rich harmonies. The album was released on a small run of vinyl (250 copies) through a label Chris ran with two friends in Liverpool, Rekordmeister, in May 2013. Although the release was small, it was picked up by a handful of  websites and blogs. The Guardian (UK) said, “Beautiful yet melancholic, Silent Sleep take you on an autobiographical journey of love and loss, through honest, heartfelt melodies.” Radio play from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music soon followed, with Bethan Elfyn, Simon Raymonde (Cocteau Twins / Bella Union), Gary Crowley and Gill Mills all giving the record spins on Amazing Radio – with Bethan Elfyn twice making Silent  Sleep her artist of the week. Since the release of Walk Me To The Sea, Chris has been busy generating new fans across the globe by playing shows in Australia, where he was joined for a song by Alan Fletcher (a.k.a Dr. Karl Kennedy of the hit Australian TV show Neighbours); The States, where he played a series of shows at the Sundance Film Festival and most recently in Brazil, where he was invited by Daniel Hunt of Ladytron to play several shows with Dan Croll and Dave McCabe of The Zutons during the 2014 World Cup. In Spring 2014, Chris returned to the studio to record his second full length record. An all-star cast of friends and musicians borrowed from some of Liverpool’s finest bands was assembled including members of Wave Machines, Dan Croll, Bird, Voo, The Wombats, Vasco da Gama, Puzzle and Kill The Young and two months later the album was complete. An even richer buffet of instrumentation was used and the songs, in Chris’ own words, have taken on a “more accomplished, more coherent form, written for the purpose of the album as opposed to the first record, which was more of a compilation of songs written over a long period of time. It sounds huge and intricate – although there are a lot of instruments being used, they are never used just for the sake of it…everything is accounted for.” http://facebook.com/silentsleepband http://twitter.com/silentsleepband http://youtube.com/silentsleepband QUOTES ABOUT SILENT SLEEP “Beautiful yet melancholic, Silent Sleep take you on an autobiographical journey of love and loss, through honest, heartfelt melodies.” The Guardian "Silent Sleep produce heartfelt, weighty songs like a super 8 film...clearly a talented musician" Bido Lito VERA VAN HEERINGEN http://www.veravanheeringen.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbsrgynorrk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=417NBX1RTIM Multi-instrumentalist Vera van Heeringen combines traditional Appalachian styles with folk and contemporary songwriting. Her clear, expressive voice delivers emotionally intelligent lyrics with an assured yet graceful feel. Vera’s guitar playing is that of a fine and assured bluegrass player, but with her own twist. Gutsy and compelling– every note counts. Her debut album ‘Standing Tall’ is receiving great reviews. It marks a change of direction from her work with The New Rope String Band and immediately establishes her as a figure to be reckoned with. Vera's original songs and tunes are rapidly gaining new fans far and wide – this is the time to go and see her play live. QUOTES ABOUT VERA VAN HEERINGEN “She can play anything with strings, write fine songs and sing them too.” Tim O’Brien "The songs and tunes she writes are first class." John Atkins, fRoots "Vera Van Heeringen has spent far too long away from the spotlight." TRWBADOR
2nd Album Several Wolves released 11th August 2014 on Owlet Music
http://trwbador.co.uk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqchoWhRDEM
Trwbador are Angharad and Owain, an electro - folk - rave duo from West Wales.  Half Welsh / half Dutch, their eponymous debut album was shortlisted for the Welsh Music Prize and they have earned airplay on BBC Radio 1, 6Music and Radio Wales. The Manic Street Preachers cited Trwbador as the key influence behind one of the songs on their most recent album (Builder of Routines on Futurology). Their second album, the recently released ‘Several Wolves’, was Album of the Day on BBC 6Music and has received glowing reviews from such authoritative sources as Mixmag, The Quietus and ‘Q’ Magazine. “Trwbador know how to construct a full-on listening experience.” The Quietus “It’s grand, deep and melancholic, and it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to see them as A Welsh Little Dragon or SBTRKT.” 8/10 Mixmag “A stunning record.” **** Q Magazine “An absolute beauty of an album.” 8/10 Artrocker

Their music is unfettered in its adventurousness, blurring influences from a disparate palette of Broadcast, Pentangle, Cornelius and Diplo. It’s wonderful, experimental pop music that, like the best pop music, combines immediacy with convention-warping innovation and technological curiosity. Apart from a couple of notable collaborations (with the legendary Cornershop and rising UK hip hop star Essa), the band are resolutely DIY, releasing all of their records on their own label, Owlet Music. They share all songwriting and producing duties equally and have been catching the attention of journalists, DJs and musos alike since 2010. QUOTES ABOUT THEIR DEBUT ALBUM “A thing of real beauty.” Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1) “A Magic Debut.” * * * * Q Magazine “An Actual Unique Piece Of Work.” * * * * Buzz Magazine “Magic and irresistibly beautiful!” Folk Radio UK “When they get it right, Trwbador are enrapturing.” ThisIsFakeDIY “A Splendid LP.” Gideon Coe (BBC 6 Music) “A Stunning debut album.” Adam Walton (BBC Radio Wales) “Beautiful, delicate, enchanting, magical.” A Musical Priority DAN AMOR
http://recordiaucaegwyn.com
http://danamor.bandcamp.com/track/dusk-bird-2 Dan Amor grew up and lives in deepest Snowdonia. His understated music is a blend of folk, Americana and 60’s pop.  His songs have received airplay on BBC Radio 1, 2, 3 and 6Music. Support slots have included Aqualung, The Proclaimers and Billy Bragg. A song he penned for former band Gabrielle 25 (named after a typewriter), ‘Every Little Thing I Say Gets You Down’, was played by John Peel.

Dan enjoyed a brief stint as bassist for Infinity Chimps – John Lawrence’s band (founder member of Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci), before setting up independent label Recordiau Cae Gwyn in 2008. They would bring unique and acclaimed artists to Chester for the first time, at a very affordable price: a high quality watermark in a city keen to experience the best, upcoming touring artists. ‘Lord of the Manor’ by The Everly Brothers It's my dad's 70th birthday tomorrow. It was his records that got me bit. Particularly his early Ray Charles, Buddy Holly & Everly Brothers 7"s. Happy birthday dad. I didn't hear this one courtesy of you, but what a strange and wonderful record. If you had this one, I would definitely have nicked it.

‘Send Me A Postcard’ by Shocking Blue Blow-Out @telfords this Friday: vintage ace for modern tastes: Hammond grooves, Northern soul stompers, lysergic fuzz & 60's girl pop. Like this...

‘Sausalito (Is The Place To Go)’ by Ohio Express This is what Graham Gouldman could do in his sleep. Shame it's not the greatest quality. It's definitely one of the greatest bubblegum songs.
