Just sat in the background for years. Decided for a fresh start. Friends call me Farmer W. Everyone else calls me an a-hole.

I have been doing some repairs on my 1939 Ford 8N tractor. A friend of a friend told me a week or so ago, to let him know when I got it done so I can bring it, along with a couple cans of gas, to his place in town.
He would like to use the bucket on my tractor to help him remove a brick chimney. He said it might take him 3 months taking it down one brick at a time, so he will need it all summer. No offer to pay (rent), no offer to help pay for gas or repairs that I am doing.
He also said his kids (all 4 under 5yo) would have fun playing on it.
I'm thinking NOT. I need it this summer on my new place. My, now, ex-friend said I was being selfish.

I read an article this morning about how some of the major banks in the US, over the last 3 years, have been slowly, and quietly, closing their branches and atms , across the country, going fully on line with everything from opening an account to mortgages, to paying bills. Also, with the pace they are going by 2041 all of their branches and atms will be shut down.
The article also stated that they have been trying to get the Fed Reserve to force smaller, local banks to do the same.
Personally, I prefer to use cash and don't like this idea. And feel it is an even worse idea, when you look at all the bank hacks that have happened in the last 15 years. Not everyone has a smart phone, or good internet connection to be able to maintain their accounts if it does all go to the internet.
What are you thoughts?

Glen Campbell once said he had an agreement with Roy Clark. Mr. Clark would not play the William Tell Overture and Mr. Campbell would not play Malagueña.
youtube
This was the shortest version I could fine. You can see where this went from a normal recording of a comedy show to everyone enjoying Mr. Clark's talent.
Glen Campbell’s 1975 performance of the William Tell Overture on an Ovation 12-string guitar is nothing short of mind-blowing. The sheer speed, precision, and clarity with which he executes every note make it almost unreal—borderline offensive, even, considering how effortlessly he makes such a complex piece look. His fingers fly across the fretboard with a mastery that few could ever hope to achieve, all while maintaining that signature Campbell charm. The crisp articulation of each note on a 12-string, an instrument notoriously difficult to play at high speed, is a testament to his extraordinary musicianship. It’s not just a performance; it’s a masterclass in skill, showmanship, and pure talent.

Really good choices. I also have cards and musical instruments. Just got a mandolin to go with my auto-harp, double neck steel guitar, mouth harp (aka jews-harp or juice-harp) all of which I taught myself to play. My wife wants me to get a 5 string banjo but i think I'll wait until I have the mandolin down first.

You're on the road to prepping, self sufficiency, self reliance, homesteading or what ever else you wish to call it. You have your home or apartment, a small garden plot or container garden and other basic essential supplies (e.g. the 3 B's Beans, Bullets and Bandages) stocked up. Your library is full of essential books (e.g. Books of your chosen faith belief, canning, processing meats, gardening, sewing, furniture making).
What non-essential or luxury item do you add to your supplies or home? I can be a comfort food item, reading material, craft items. Or any number of other items. What do you choose?
There is no wrong answer, but your answer may help someone else who may be at the survival point of their journey and move to a thriving life on their journey.
For me I've added things like canned smoked oysters, a lot of cocoa powder. Books and videos of different series that my wife and daughter both enjoy. Needle point kits. A boatload of colored pencils and crayons and coloring books. Just to name a few items.

IMHO, no one who worked in the "Public Sector" (from the Janitors, to the President), in other words, who worked any Government job (Federal, State, County, Local or Military) should keep their security clearance or have public paid security upon leaving their Government Service time. Most of them, who think they need security (bodyguards), have made enough money while working for the Government to pay for it privately. Then, if they return to work for the Government, they need to go through a new background check for a security clearance.
