Reminds me of a commission I just got where the result was nothing like the example,, I wasn’t up to arguing though because I got enough stress as it is. Most artists I commissioned were great though.

Commissions and Unprofessional Artist Behavior

Before I get started, a quick preface:

This post doesn’t apply to all artists.

This post doesn’t apply to all customers.

This may not be your experience, but your experience is not universal.

With that out of the way, let’s get started. This is going to be a very long post, so let me just give you the abstract:

Any artist who takes commissions has an obligation to behave in a professional manner and treat their customers’ time and money with respect. Just because art is a creative endeavor that does not excuse abusive business practices, and it’s wrong to take advantage of a customers’ good will. Doing so weakens trust in artists as a whole and harms the entire artistic community, especially new artists just getting started.

I’m deeply sorry to hear about this, I wish you and your family the very best.

My family (4 brothers and their mother) lost everything this past Saturday January 12, 2019. Their house was burned down by a fire. We are very lucky that none of them were physically harmed. They are now displaced with the only possessions being the clothes on their back. My baby brother Jeremiah who suffers from autism and seizures is the most affected by this loss. It is essential for him to have a routine and stability due to his autism. His tablet was lost, which is causes him great distress. He uses it to communicate and calm himself when he’s experiencing anxiety. Other than raising some money to replacing his tablet to ease his mind during this time we’re just trying to get them the basics, beds, clothes, food and of course a place to stay. Any help you can give would make a huge difference and will be highly appreciated.

Hello everyone! Today I’m sharing a link that I’m hoping you guys would be able to come help with either to donate or to simply share it. Every little bit counts really.

Last January 12, 2019, one of my close friends, Hitotami as you all know them, had their entire place burned down due to their neighbor downstairs being careless with their cigarette. Now without insurance unfortunately, it is making it hard for them to get up once again and find a place to live and have the basic necessities especially with a rather big family with their youngest brother suffering autism and seizures that requires special needs. Thankfully none of them got hurt and they’re all safe but unfortunately they lost everything they owned in the fire.

So I’m asking, if you have any extra to donate, we will be so grateful if not, just sharing this link would help! Thank you all who gave time to read this and I’m sorry for taking up your time of the day.
