A Sea Witch’s “Portable Ocean” Spell Jar
A spell jar to hold the energies and essence of the ocean for use when one is away from the ocean. Good for charging, meditation, sea grounding, spell strengthening, and general ocean witchcraft.
Tumblr media
You Will Need:
🌊 A Jar with a tight sealing lid or cork (preferably one that won’t rust) 🌊 Beach Sand 🌊 Sea Salt 🌊 Sea Water (or storm water if you can’t get sea water, tap works if really needed) 🌊 Dried Kelp or Kelp Powder (small amount) 🌊 Sea Shells or crushed shells of choice 🌊 Driftwood (small) 🌊 Sea glass 🌊 Twine or Rope or Blue Ribbon
Steps:
🌊 Make sure your jar is cleansed and yourself before beginning spell. Have all items prepped and your area cleansed and prepared as you see fit.
🌊 In your jar add the sand covering the bottom. On top of the sand add your shells, driftwood, and sea glass
🌊 In a separate bowl or cup add your water and in it mix in your kelp and your salt, stirring clockwise focusing on the smell it emits (which will be salty and kelpy like the sea) and how the waves and currents of the ocean churn and move. If you desired you may play sounds of waves on a device to add to the visualization. As you stir focus on this visualization and putting those images into the water as you stir it.
🌊 Once thoroughly mixed pour it carefully into your jar, visualizing how the waves rush onto the beach during high-tide, covering the sand and shells on it.
🌊 “Water of salt and brine, upon the sand and bits of shell, the ocean I capture into this jar, so I may draw from its energy like a well.” While saying this focus on your intent to capture the energy of the ocean and have it with you when you need it, and keep visualizing the ocean and beach.
🌊 Once you have all of your water in the jar seal it tight with the cork or lid.
🌊 Take your rope/twine/ribbon and tie it around the jar just below the lip of the jar. “I seal the power of the sea inside, I capture the beach at high-tide.”
🌊 Keep refrigerated to prevent from getting gross though contents may have to be regularly replaced (excluding the shells and glass that should be reusable).

Microwave baked good recipes for those without ovens
Tumblr media
Baking is sometimes important in festivals like Yule, Ostara, and Harvest and I know a lot of people either don’t have ovens or don’t have time to bake and baking isn’t the most discreet of practices so I’ve compiled some easy microwave bakes that are actually pretty good.
💛 Baked apples in a mug
-2 chopped apples(or enough to fit in a mug)
-½ tbs of butter
-1 tbs of brown or white sugar (but brown tastes nicer I think)
-sprinkle of cinnamon to your liking
microwave for around 45 seconds or until the apples are mushy
💛 Cake!
-2 tbs melted butter
-¼ cup flour
-1 egg yolk
-2 tbs sugar
-1 tbs milk
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-¼ tsp baking powder
combine all in a mug (don’t fill more than halfway) and microwave for 45-60 seconds or until the cake pulls away from the sides of the mug then top with whatever you like (putting honey on when it’s still hot and letting it soak into the cake is really good) you can also add in practically any herbs you like before you cook it too!
💛 Vegan cinnamon cake
-¼ cup flour
-2 tsp baking powder
-2 tbs brown sugar
-¾ tsp cinnamon
-¼ cup dairy free milk
-2 tbs melted vegan margarine
-1 tsp vanilla extract
combine all in a large mug (don’t fill more than halfway), sprinkle a little extra brown sugar and cinnamon on top, microwave for 1 ½ minutes
💛 Fruit cobbler (this one’s complicated buckle up, bros)
This works with practically any fruit like strawberries, cranberries, blackberries etc.
-1/8 cup flour
-pinch salt
-1/8 tsp baking powder
-½ heaping tablespoon sugar
-1 tbs cold butter
-1 tbs milk
-8 blackberries
-½ tsp sugar
microwave just the blackberries and ½ tsp of sugar in a large mug for 10-15 secs and set ‘em aside, combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl, add the butter and mix with your hands until crumbly add the milk and stir until dough forms, spoon over the blackberries and microwave for 1 minute check it and if it doesn’t look done microwave again for 20 secs.
This post is super long already I think I’ll stop here but I may add more later. feel free to add some yourself if you know any, have a nice day and a good equinox tomorrow!

Safety and protection with fae
Tumblr media
I personally love the fae, but I know many people would rather stay far away (and of course it’s very important to know safety guidelines whether you do or not!) so here’s some information I’ve collected.
From many different sources:
Never use your real name when interacting with fae, or they can take control over you
Always be polite and respectful and do your best not to offend. Remember, better safe than sorry
As a general rule, don’t eat food when visiting the fae realm. This will make you a captive, unable to leave, and often the food isn’t as wonderful as it may seem, and only glamoured rocks, mud and sticks. (It’s said faeries will take offense if you don’t accept food they offer to you in our own world though)
Do not think yourself more clever than them or try to swindle them; you will end up in very hot water
You may not want to accept faerie money.. as again, it is often glamoured and will turn back into leaves and acorns soon after
Do not blindly intrude were you are not wanted (fairy rings, sacred faerie places, etc) Always ask first and respect their answer!
Should you find you’ve wandered into a place where you feel strong malevolent energy or evil presence and experience “faerie terror”, back away slowly, don’t run or you might get lost. Send out your good will, and if you can, throw up a bubble/egg ward to protect yourself
Do not to take the fae lightly or seek them half-heartedly. Take care not to act as if they were weak, harmless or lenient. It is very foolish to underestimate them. Faeries are not strictly good or evil (neither are humans), and respect and caution are always best
Salt and iron (tools made from iron, a nail in your pocket) are traditional faerie deterrents
Three leaf clovers can be carried as a protective charm, and four leaf ones can break through faerie magic or allow you to see hidden fae (note some traditions say you should have multiple clovers as each will only work once)
Wearing St. John’s Wort will give you strong protection from faerie magic
As will wearing a daisy
Carrying a rowan twig, or hanging one over your door, that was collected on Betaine may bring protection
Flipping your clothes inside out can prevent faerie mischief by its unexpectedness
Visualisation wards can be effective
Scatter primrose petals outside your door to keep faeries at bay by creating a barrier
If you hear bluebells chime it is a warning that danger or faerie enchantments are near
Putting a daisy chain on a child is said to protect them from being taken as a changeling
Forget me nots can be used for faerie protection
If you’re friendly with any other faeries, you may ask them for protection against ill-willed fae
Faeries will avoid gardens with tomato plants
Make a bundle of twigs from the trees of the faerie triad, oak ash and thorn, and carry it for protection (it will only work if they’re bound together, if separate, they are an invitation to the fae)
One traditional faerie protection is placing mirrors throughout your home
 Cats may chase away faeries
The sound of heavy iron bells and chimes may drive them away
Leaving out gifts of honey and milk can appease the fae if you wish them to leave you alone

Witch Tip: Godphone via Journaling
Having trouble getting in touch with a deity? Bad reception or just want to add to your communication methods?
Try Godphone via Journaling.
Tools: Something to write with and something to write on. If you are faster at typing, type instead.
Method: Get in a comfortable writing/typing position. Channel your energy into your chosen items and hand (hands if you’re typing.) Imagine the deity you wish to communicate with. Visualize them adding their energy to yours and getting ready to take over.
Start the conversation by addressing your deity. (Do it in whichever way you’d like/how you usually address them. Some people like to add Lord/Lady in front of their names, others like to add descriptions after their names, etc.)
After addressing the deity, write a question/ statement or whatever you want to get their input on. Write down whatever pops in your mind. Try to imagine the deity’s voice.
WRITE/TYPE AS FAST AS YOU CAN.
Don’t edit, don’t worry about the sloppy handwriting or spelling errors. GET IT ALL OUT.
In the beginning what you immediately write or type might not make any sense. Keep going. Write it all down and eventually it will begin to make sense. The more you do this, the easier it will get.
After your deity answers, write or type your thoughts in response. Keep the conversation going and let them reply. If the conversations turns into a different one, let it. There are no set rules on what you can or can’t talk about (that’s between you and your deity.)
If the conversation is taking too long and you need to be somewhere, kindly let your deity know you have somewhere to be but you would like to continue next time. To continue a previous conversation: Re-read your last conversation, and ask the deity to continue.
Write what is truly in your heart. There is no point in lying to a god because they are gods and can see right through you.
Here is an example of what I would write to Aphrodite:
“I am seeking a connection with Aphrodite,
Aphrodite, goddess of love, keeper of hearts, goddess of mine. I am having a hard time being comfortable in my body. How can I feel more comfortable in my own skin?”
She replies then I reply and so on and so forth. I keep the conversation going because it might reveal something I’m not looking at or give me a new method to work with.
WARNING: Your personal insecurities might pretend to be the deity you are communicating with. If the deity sounds out of character, irrationally mean or unlike themselves, know that this is a personal insecurity trying to hurt you. I’ve caught a few myself. Tell the insecurity that you know they are not the deity and demand they reveal themselves to you (write it all down). Some of them have revealed to be something my mother used to hurt me with and have manifested into insecurities.
Ask the deity to help you work through this insecurity or make a side note regarding it if you choose to work on it later.
Afterwards: You can go back and edit the conversation, rewrite it, add it to your BoS/Grimoire/Chosen Journal, whatever you would like to do with it. It is a conversation between you and the deity.
I really like this method because you’ve already recorded the conversation and can reference it every time this question pops up again or can be used in future spells. I hope this helps!
HAPPY GOD-PHONING!

On Fae and Names
Quick PSA to any witches working with Fae: Do not give them your name under any typical circumstances. Give a nickname, or no name at all. BUT! If you give a nickname, don’t say: “My name is -insert nickname-.” Because that is a lie, and a fae will twist that around their little finger and use it to manipulate the shit outta you anyways.
INSTEAD, say: “You may call me -insert nickname-.” This lets them know that this name probably doesn’t have power over you and that you are both cautious and intelligent.
Stay safe kids.

Aura? Yes, you can see it
I’m not going to explain what aura is, let’s just skip to the main part, how you can see it?
1. How to see other people’s aura. Blur your vision on purpose.
(If you don’t know how, here is a little tip: Focus on something far away from you. Like a tree, or a car, let’s say, across the street. While you’re looking at the thing you chose, focus your mind on what is between you and that thing. The blurry part of your vision. The more you try and practice, the better you’ll get.)
Once your vision is blurry, go sit in the park or somewhere where you can see people walking around. Sit on a bench, blur your vision and focus your mind people walking around. Do not look directly at them. Just accept their presence and look at the thing far away. After some time you’ll see something that looks like a beam of light right above people’s heads. This is the step n.1. Remember the more you practice, the more you’ll see. After some time, you can start to see whole auras around their bodies. Some will be wide, some will have more layers, some will have colors and spikes or smooth edge and so on.
2. How to see your own aura. Wait for the night. Sit alone in a room, let just the street light slightly enter the space you’re in. Hold your hand in front on you, make sure the wall (or something else) behind your hand is dark colored or preferably, black. Blur your vision focusing on your hand. Do not look directly at your hand. After some time, you’ll be able to see something that looks like waves of warmness around your hand. It looks like warm air rising from a tea pot. You may see colors, you may see shape and edges.
Remember, practice makes perfect. Don’t beat yourself up because you won’t be able to see it right away. It takes time.
Enjoy.

Top Ward Mistakes II
These are some common reasons why wards, even powerful ones, fail at times. I have noticed these over the years, through my mistakes and others.
…The Ceiling. Did you remember to ward your ceiling? It doesn’t matter how powerful the walls are if an entity can just jump over it.
…The Floor. Also doesn’t matter how strong the walls are if the entity can just dig under it.
A Circle Doesn’t Fit Into A Square: Does the shape of the ward match the room you are in? While a circle is the most stable when standalone, not clinging to anything else, it’s still weaker than something tied to something physical- such as the walls, floors, and ceilings of your space. Thus, even the best spherical ward will still fade out much quicker than something tied to the physical structure of your house. Additionally, having a circle in your (most likely) square-ish shaped room will leave certain corners without protection; you want the intruder to be kept out of your house in the first place, not just certain parts of it.
The Corners, Edges, Etc: Building on the previous point, even when the ward is tied to the physical structure of the house, many people don’t pay attention to the corners or edges where the ward bends- this is often where the ward is usually weakest. You want to double check that the ward is solid on those portions and maybe even visualize something tougher holding it together there,  as the bending usually makes it more fragile near those certain points.

A Crash Course in Warding
Let’s just start a series of crash courses in witchcraft, since sometimes we need to learn things the quick and dirty way. Today, let’s talk about wards.
What are wards? Wards are protective energy barriers. They keep things out. You can place them around your home, certain rooms, even on certain objects. With practice and clear intentions, you can focus the wards to block out everything or only certain things. We’ll get to that in a bit.
Why should I ward my space and my things? Wards can keep out all sorts of things you don’t want in your home. They can block out negative entities, wayward spirits, mischievous entities, demons, and (if you’re really good at what you’re doing) even gods. Some people ward their divination tools so they know there are no spirits tampering with the results.
So what do I need to do first? Cleanse. This is very important. Wards are kind of like walls, or perhaps more accurately, bubbles. If you don’t clean the space first, you might trap things inside your ward bubble. You do not want that. There are lots of methods of cleansing, from burning sage to spritzing oil-infused water. Find a method you’re comfortable with and cleanse everything you’re going to be warding.
I’ve cleansed my home/item. Now what? Now we ward. I’m going to give you a couple methods. Let’s start with my favorite, incense warding.
Incense warding can also be done with spritzes of water/essential oil blends or herb-infused water if you can’t have smoke in your space. Whichever you’re using, you want to have a blend of protective herbs. Bay leaves, cinnamon, ginger, mustard seed, and salt are some great options that you can find in the grocery store, no fancy witch shop necessary. If you’re using incense, make sure you’re using natural incense and not super cheap stuff that’s artificially scented. The magic is in the herbs, and you won’t get that from fake scents.
How to Incense/Spritz Ward an Item
Smoke or spray item.
Visualize the smoke or spray clinging to the item and wrapping around it like a tight blanket, protecting it from anything that would cause harm (or interference, etc.).
How to Incense/Spritz Ward Your Space
Pick a place to start. I always start at my altar, but it’s up to you. If you’re doing multiple floors, start either at the top or bottom floor.
Moving continuously to your right, smoke or spray along the walls and door frames. As you go, imagine a barrier being formed around the walls, ceiling, and floor, pushing outwards to fill the room. Visualize the smoke or spray forming the barrier to keep out anything that will do you harm. [If you have a hard time with visualization, you can simply focus on the intent of the smoke or spray keeping things out.]
Keep moving right, following the layout of your home, making sure you get all the closet spaces. You basically want to outline the entire area you’re protecting, whether it’s you’re room or your whole house.
For multiple floors, repeat on each level.
For big layouts where there are rooms in the middle, go around those rooms as well.
I like to reinforce the wards over outside doors, windows, and mirrors. These are all passages of sorts, and when I reach them, I use the incense to draw a pentagram in the air over them. This is entirely up to you.
You’re done when you’ve reached the point where you began.
So why do we go to the right? Is that important? Kind of. Going to the right is like going clockwise. It’s about making things and progression, where going to the left or counter-clockwise is about deconstruction or reversal. [I read this idea in a witchy book a long time ago and will try to find a source when I can. If you honestly don’t feel it makes a difference, do whatever you’re comfortable with.]
Can I place wards that keep out certain things but not others? Sure. When you’re going around your space/warding your item, your intent is what’s important. I like to ward out entities that mean harm - it’s nice and general and doesn’t keep the fae out. Some people might want certain spirits and not others. Have your intentions clear in your mind as you place your wards.
That’s neat and all, but what are some other ways to ward? Let’s list a few.
Symbol/Sigil Wards
Choose (or make) a symbol or sigil that has protective properties. I’ve done this with Pluto’s astrological symbol because I worship him and it’s my way of being like, “Hey, Pluto. Please protect me, kthanxbai.” Pentagrams are nice and basic witchy/pagan symbols if you like them.
Draw the symbol over doors and windows. You do not literally have to draw it. It can be in water, incense smoke, or just your finger against the surface if you want.
As you’re drawing, make sure you have your intentions in mind - that nothing harmful can pass through this door, that the windows remain closed against entities, etc.
Energy Bubbles (if you have control over your energy)
Pick an item - any item.
Get your warding intentions in mind.
Channel lots of energy into the item. Visualize it emanating from the item in a bubble to fill your space.
If you’ve got mad skillz, you can form the bubble to the walls and be super exact with where its barriers are.
Vocal Wards
If you like spoken (or thought) spells, come up with a small chant to protect your space.
You can repeat this chant as you focus on your item being protected or as you walk around your home, protecting every room.
This is really great to incorporate into basically any other form of warding and gives your magic an extra bit of oomph.
I’ve heard wards can “fade” over time. True or false? Wards are just energy. Like all energies, they can disperse and weaken over time, or if something particularly nasty puts effort into destroying them. Redo your wards every so often (I do mine every few months, but it’s up to you), and especially before spiritual interactions. I also like to do mine after I’ve had lots of company, to kind of clear out family’s lingering energies and reinforce what I don’t want in my house.
In general, the intent of your wards is the most important part. Know what you want to keep out. This concludes our crash course on warding. Now go forth and protect some stuff!
