Way too old to be getting the hang of social media but after moving to a one comic book town, I have returned to Ye Olde Tumblr to find my people.

"It is just that simple."
No.
Me: Ranting about the lack of cosplay costumes for wheelchair users and other such things.
Random person: "just get a normal costume and wear it."
[Image: animated gif of wheelchair with rainbow spikes turning around. Would love to credit person, gif credit reads cryptid-stimming]
Then it occurred to me, people think it's just that simple.
That's why there are so few options out there. If you've never been the person who's skirt went from just above the knees to way WAY to short by simply sitting down, it's not something you consider when designing them. If you've never cussed yourself out for being defeated by a button or snap then the concept of velcro or a zipper with a pull tag seems extra or maybe even cheap. If you've never loved the knee high books but know in no world you can get them on, extra space or two piecing then just seems like extra work.
It doesn't stop with mobility struggles either. I have tubi friends or friends with colostomy bags that struggle with spacing and access in their costumes and often opt not to enjoy the fun day at con because of the difficulties it provides.
The problem is, all too often people don't think about it until they are the ones who need it. By the time they are there the options to address that are limited by their own physical abilities.
I have never learned to sew but maybe I should and...maybe you should too. There is a gap in the market and it needs to be filled.

Erasing Disabled Superheroes: Why 'Healing' Them Takes Away Vital Representation from Disabled Fans
In today's world, it should not be this difficult to find a sticker of Oracle for my water bottle. Okay , Let me clarify who and what Oracle is and why it truly is that big of a deal to me. Nerd rambling ahead, follow at your own risk.
Oracle is the name Barbara Gordon took when she hung up her cape and cowl as batgirl after the attack from the Joker left her paralyzed. We see her decide that will not be the end of her hero days. Instead she continues to be an amazing member of the Batfam and JL as Oracle. Oracle becomes a world class hacker, and organizes the family in the various battles across Gotham, Bludhaven and beyond.
Now, one of the many things that the New 52 did that I had issues with is they reset Babs back into her Batgirl regalia and back on her feet. While it was all wonderfully inspirational and shit as she driven to train after her father died …yadda yadda, - it took from page and fandom the already inspirational badass that we had in Oracle.
We didn't need her swinging from grapples to save the day. She did that on the regular as one of the most badass, intelligent and wonderful characters DC had seen in way too damn long and she did all that from the seat of her wheelchair.
I can not overstate the importance of representation matters. These comics, these heroes belong to everyone and we all want to see ourselves in those pages.
This whole rant came from the fact I can't find a damn Oracle sticker for my water bottle but here, have a list of heroes and villains of varying abilities because we need more of that shit.
