This might tick a lot of people off though, because I haven’t updated it in a while… please have mercy! I’m so busy! It takes sooooo long to draw these just the right way…

What the Baruto x Sarada ship really is

It is blatantly obvious that Kishi intends for them to be the new couple. The new ship. The main characters. We should all love them.

It is also obvious that they are the exact same pairings that we have seen before. All added together and regurgitated. So if you hated on those pairings this whole time and ship these two now, you are an asshole.

Some people like to argue that “I ship them for them! They are their own people!”

Like really? They’ve been given a couple scenes of dialogue each. Baruto is obviously meant to be a near exact copy of Naruto. And Sarada? Sarada is some kind of collage of the most popular characters that fans like to ship.

Just from first appearances, she is meant to be very much like Sasuke. If Baruto is the new Naruto, the loud, silly, reckless protagonist, then Sarada is the new Sasuke. The cool friend/rival character. She is Sasuke’s daughter. She looks like him. She has his “cool” looks and demeanor. She sees Baruto and acknowledges him and wants to be his friend but doesn’t know how to call out. She shares his loneliness and feels connected to him. She’s the new Sasuke. It’s the obvious intention.

BUT! Kishi seems to want to make this some kind of be-all end-all pairing. So Sarada also has elements of all the other most popular characters and ships that fans love:

 - She follows Bolt around like Hinata followed Naruto. Peeking around corners much?

 - She has glasses and a spunky attitude like Karin’s

 - She is the daughter of, and has an attitude like, Sakura. She has her catchphrase and everything.

So neither of them has been fleshed out enough to really be given their own personality yet. What they HAVE been given are small hints at attributes from the characters from the most popular pairings. Basically,  It seems he’s trying to make them an amalgamation of the most popular ships from his first go-around. He’s given elements of most of them: NaruSasuNaru, NaruSaku, SasuKarin, and NaruHina. 

But this new series will surely mirror the last like all the generations have mirrored each other in this series. Knowing that, Baruto is our new Naruto/Hashirama/Jiraiya/Obito main character. And Sarada is the new Sasuke/Madara/Orochimaru/Kakashi. The best friend and rival. (But hopefully not antihero or villain). At their CORE, they still represent their fathers.

So yes, they are the new NaruSasu. And the only real difference is that they are a het ship. So now I have explained myself. And I will say again:

If you ship Baruto and Sarada but have been anti SNS this whole time, You. Are. An. Asshole. And. It. Is. H-O-M-O-P-H-O-B-I-C.

If you’ve been ANTI- a male pairing this whole time, and are now PRO this new pairing that is, in essence, the exact same thing but heterosexual, then you are a disgusting piece of trash.

It is blatant double standards and heteronormativity. It is hateful. It is homophobic. There is no argument here. Goodbye.

Pennsylvania shooting claims 6 black lives

Six people are dead after a pair of gunmen opened fire at a barbecue in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, Wednesday night. Four women, one man and an unborn child were shot at a private residence in what authorities are calling a coordinated attack. All of the victims were black.

While outlets across the country have given it some coverage, the incident has largely been spared the 24-hour news cycle treatment granted the likes of other recent attacks.
