in the mk1 in my head, "hanzo" is actually satoshi taking on his father's name to honour him. satoshi's family was killed, leaving him to fend for himself and be taken in by the shirai ryu. hanzo's spectre manifests, leaving a trail of blood to find his son and make sure he's safe

@tybaltsrapier headcanoned that benvolio would grow his hair out in honour of mercutio's death and i just had to draw it. mulletvolio anyone

i added that he'd have a little braid because of how his friend's hair was braided on one side. and @realtranstybalt said that he'd grow his roots out because it reminds him of romeo. i also added in my hc that benvolio would wear black, even after all the funerals because all the costumes are very colour coded. something about how he's the symbol of the deceased by being the only one left living, he bears their deaths like a cross

ended up making him look a lot more miserable than i intended, but hey, it works. also gave him cyril niccolai's iconic 5 o clock shadow haha
