One of the reasons I still love Pokémon so much after all these years, and prefer this franchise as the primary source of my entertainment, is because there is so much untapped or barely tapped sources of information that is not only fascinating but also fun and up for interpretation in so many ways. Fan lore and actually canon stuff can be wild. I mean what is canon and what is fan lore is sometimes blurred and it changes depending on which of the many universes you are discussing.
Canon in most/all manga-verses, anime-verses, and game verses:
- humans with supernatural powers
- diverse major and minor characters
- rare items that can make or break the world
- badass battles
- evil and good existing on a spectrum
- myths and legends that are sometimes BS, sometimes turn out to be true (on a meta and in-verse level)
- Countless shippable characters
- Pokérus, Mirage Island, Cacophony, Venastoise, and Yellow de Tokiwa Grove

Well said!
any other writers out there ever read a paragraph of your own work and just, in the least self centered way possible, think
fuck, i’m such a good writer.
if you haven’t, that day will come eventually, i promise. but until then, keep writing whatever your little working brain tells you, because one day you’ll consider it a masterpiece or absolute shit that’ll make you laugh and realize just how far you’ve come.
keep writing words so your future self has stuff to look back on and either compare to current wips, or to reminisce on. words are permanent as long as you let them be.

Working on pacing is literally the worst thing.
It’s so hard to find the will to fix something that has all the right content and all the right words, but somehow still reads wrong.

As a chick married to an ex-cop, I say this all the time to people close to me, but it bears repeating here: No cop is your friend after you’ve been detained.
Get rear ended by a drunk at a red light? That cop will direct traffic around your vehicle, document the accident, sure. Call animal control on your piece of shit neighbor? You’ve got a pretty good chance the officer who shows up helps out in a meaningful way.
But after you’ve been arrested, when a police officer says, “Just be honest with me and I’ll do the same.” or the old “Help me and I’ll help you.” Politely ask for a lawyer. Shake your head. Ignore them. Pretend you’re Hollywood royalty being asked for a selfie. “ …mmmm… Sorry, but no.”
Keep your mouth shut. Don’t do their work for them. Wait for a lawyer.

ACRONYMS. but, like, try to have it make sense

I also do not wish to detract/distract but I have two important additions:
*This goes extra for those outside of the gender binary.
*Don’t assume that every person making/reblogging this or similar posts is ‘safe’.
I have a very sweet group of 13-14ish year old girls following me so I just wanted to say a few words about safety and grooming really quickly because I’ve been (hopefully needlessly) stressed about this and it’s sometimes more subtle than like. Asking for nudes
• Adults you meet online should not be talking to you about sex. Full stop. This includes smut, their sex life, your sex life, and “educating” you about sex. If an adult is talking to you about sex in ANY context, BLOCK THEM. Once again, THIS INCLUDES FANDOM SHIT. That is still inappropriate.
If you’re curious about sex, which is Totally normal, you can ask a trusted adult or mentor figure you know IN REAL LIFE, and if you don’t have one, there are lots of very straightforward and strictly educational resources at Planned Parenthood’s website and
• As much as I value younger girls as people (this is not a dig at y’all ❤️), it is weird to be an adult and be CLOSE friends with a young teenager. Even if you don’t perceive your interactions as inappropriate, it’s weird.
This is not because you’re not interesting or fun, but because adults really have nothing in common emotionally with eighth graders, and ALL of us know that. Every single one of us. An adult has nothing to gain from confiding in a person in a middle school. If a grown man or woman is telling you their deepest, darkest secrets, messaging you about their problems on a regular basis, or asking you to confide in them, that is a red flag. Block them.
• If an adult is complimenting you on your appearance in any way that you would not compliment an 8-year-old, BLOCK THEM. It’s completely not appropriate for an adult to tell you that you look hot, your makeup is sexy, etc. That’s fucking weird.
• If they talk about how mature you are for your age, BLOCK THEM. You might very well be mature for your age, but you’re not mature enough to change the fact that you’re in a completely different life stage than a grown adult.
(This applies to the 12-14 crowd—not telling you to block your 18 y/o friends if you’re 16 haha)
