ramble about chihiro’s death and how i feel as if it could have been rewritten better with same general idea

at the start of the game, chihiro is presented as female and uses she/her, but his facade crumbles when the second chapter begins. before the second trial, chihiro asks mondo to help him become stronger because of gender dysphoria and comes out to him in private sometime before his death. by the time the second motives come around, chihiro’s secret would out him to everone along with mentioning he want to use he/him pronouns. that night when he arrives in the boys locker room, he has a mental breakdown out of fear people will hate him with mondo in the boys locker room. mondo completely supports him being trans and it helps chihiro feel more confident in his gender orientation. eventually chihiro confesses something that reminded mondo of daiya too much, and in a fit of rage mondo kills him on accident in the same way.

by the time chihiro’s death happened, mondo moved the body to the girls locker room and byakuya does his same interfering shit like before. when everyone comes to investigate in the girls locker room, almost everything goes the same, down to mondo accidentally calling chihiro bro. however, it isn’t until the trial recess that makoto notices the paper with chihiro’s secret is still in his pocket. after that, everyone starts using he him pronouns on chihiro with mondo saying “it’s what he would have wanted”, as a subtle hint towards him being blackened
