Not at all, it's a very old pseudo which references an obscure you-are-the-hero book in which you travel a good part of the story as a turtle. Then get reincarnated as a skeleton in armor. I thought it was really cool so I kept the name.

First of all thank you so much for the kind message :-)

Then, apart from the obvious advice of "do studies of pictures you find appealing" or "study colour theory", I can share a little bit of my process of using an underpainting of a certain colour, then using a brush with colour jitter to have a wild variety of hues to pick from.

Here is a very quick example of the coulour jitter and how a different underpainting can affect the final result :

After that I tend to go wild with filters like levels, curves and LUTs, but it's a step that comes after all the base is layed down and fully rendered and it's according to taste.

heya!! i was wondering how long your fully rendered pieces take you?

Hello!

I am not one to be patient with my art, so I take a day to finish a piece, two at most. During those days I tend to work 3 or 4h at a time so that's basically how much I spend on a fully rendered piece!
