Seriously the way that Kahaku was raised with an utter lack of affection (because no one cared about him) but an abundance of freedom (because no one cared about him) which gives him a warped perspective on love and makes him think that the first person who was decent to him and didn't expect him to be perfect is worthy of his eternal devotion is enough on its own.
