in which ivan is a vocalist/lyricist in a band who lost his inspiration for music and finds it in luka, a burnt out musical prodigy, after getting entangled with him almost by fate; they become each others muse and obsession - and comfort

they share the similarity of being musical prodigies with abusive guardians/upbringing; ivan ran away from his and lives a free and unrestrained life singing in underground bars and clubs in a band he only joined bc of his best friend/childhood love. his feelings went unrequited for many years until he eventually and recently slowly got over it, coming to terms its no use and that they would never have a chance since hes "too intense", "too much", "not normal". bc of this, his inspiration disappeared since till was his muse all this time

luka stayed and became a golden-caged songbird, objectified and used by his possessive guardian bc of his talent. he was trained strictly since childhood and forced to perform on stage, study and pursue music, the only thing that he truly enjoys, to utmost perfection to the point of burn out and beyond. his guardian eventually passed and it left luka free but since his entire life was planned and dictated and control taken from him, he feels lost and alone, unsure what to do. music was the only purpose in his life, the only thing hes good at, he can do; hes burnt out and exhausted but still continues, the things his guardian ingrained into his mind still controlling his behavior and life

when luka meets ivan, his love for music gets rekindled without the pressure and abuse that loomed over him all his life; when ivan meets luka, his inspiration and love returns. theyre both scarred from their similar upbringing and situation which influences a lot of things they are/do (e.g. tendencies to become obsessive/possessive,...) theyre both considered and branded "odd" by people around them but they learn they can let go of their masks around each other and be themselves, finding comfort and healing together. what started as an entanglement w mutual benefits grows into mutual love

just watched R7 let me tell you...

alnst au tillivan where they're reincarnated in another universe and start dating. ivan is slowly regaining his memories and distancing from till, while till - who has remembered all along - is desperately trying to pull ivan back.

spoilers for R7!!

->ivan's ghost stayed around for R7 and witnesses till's loss and mizi's appearance. it's then and there where ivan decides that there's no need for him anymore.

->till is reborn with his memories intact and meets ivan again and slowly falls in love w/ him throughout their childhood

->ivan also falls in love. they start dating in high school when till confesses with a love song written for them.

->in college, ivan has his first dream. a meteor shower, bright red, and till's younger self. it's blurry, and doesn't make sense. however, as time progresses, he's able to piece it all together.

->it inevitably comes to a point where till unintentionally does something that forces ivan remember it all at once. till doesn't realize.

->ivan doubts. he doubts the songs, the flowers, the drawings, the sweet nothings whispered in ears and told dotingly; when mizi shows up, won't it all wash away into a blank slate?

->eventually, they make up, and till asks for ivan to marry him so that they'd never be separated again.

->and, when they do meet mizi and sua again, till doesn't grant them a second glance because all his attention is on ivan.

yes the pain of ivan's death still lingers, yes i was giddy watching r7, no im not an apologist for luka (though i am for ivan), yes i low-key ship lukaivan, yeah i high-key ship tillivan, actor au does give me too much dopamine for a sane human, dadada...

anyway lukaivan/ivanluka guide and esper au (which is different from the sentinel one apparently) that i only know a bit about after reading a manhwa

luka is a guide who's powers include mental manipulation; unfortunately, he was born with a less than stellar body, prompting him to require both a guide and esper if he were to go dungeon diving.

ivan is both a guide and esper, the pride of his parents and elders. it's not entirely smooth sailing, though; his first friend and love of many years has never shown a sign of interest in him.

and, evidently, they were meant to clear dungeons together.

->ivan's ability is "meteor shower," where he can summon meteors. if he exerts enough energy or is feeling especially mournful, he can create a sky of shooting stars. this has only happened once, when ivan decided to let loose his emotions while thinking about till.

->when luka's ability, mental manipulation, first manifested it was when he was with hyunwoo and hyuna. at that time, he and hyuna had a disagreement with her brother, and hyuna had stated something like "i wish he didn't exist." luka, inept at emotions at that time, thought she truly wished it and accidentally manipulated her to push her brother into a dungeon where he died.

->till is an esper who's ability is related to music. he forms a band and begins to travel the world with said band, leaving ivan behind. notably, he follows mizi when he can.

->mizi is an excellent guide, and sua is a low-key esper. they team up for rescue missions after joining hyuna's guild, rebellion rescue.

->when ivan and luka first team, they both hold no emotion—maybe even dislike—for one another. however, in their sanctuary after luka overextends his powers, they grow closer (as in, ivan guides luka into absolutely destroying ivan to calm the esper down. (yes, bottom ivan supremacy, and kind of an undertone in a lot of my alnst prompts)).

recommended by his therapist, ivan gets on a dating app to get over till, his best friend. he doesn't believe it will work, until he finds himself saying "yes" to luka, someone he matched with.

this is all fine and dandy, up until till drunkenly confesses he's in love with ivan at a gathering. luka wasn't any help either, contemplating "why don't we both date you?"

and, well, ivan could never say no to the men he loves.

luka watched, with empty eyes, his two juniors. it was almost amusing how ivan chased futilely after till. it made luka... want to control him? not in a creepy way, but rather, take care of ivan. his heart seems rather fragile for someone like till to take hold of it.

is it the heartbreak reflected in ivan's eyes, his words, his every action? luka can't quite decide, but he's sick of seeing it. they're being put in the same group, and he can't have any of that near him. and, well, if the best way to do that is make ivan fall out of love with till...

luka looks at ivan again. he's alone, now, looking at the pencil he'd stolen forlornly.

...then isn't he a perfect candidate for a "second chance at love?"

of course, that's not easy to say. luka has three easy steps for this, though.

getting his contact was easy. knowing that they're being put in the same group together, no guards were raised for that. a good morning text here, a good night text here, a check-in during lunch...

finding his schedule was even easier. considering the amount of time ivan spends alone with till chasing after mizi, luka integrated himself in quite well. two coffees in the morning for himself and ivan, a break in practicing with two cold drinks, and spending a late lunch together.

hanging out outside of the company building was unnecessarily difficult. luka supposed it was because of their upcoming debut; their workload was gradually increasing, from practice to photoshoots. he managed to pull ivan on a "dinner date" to discuss their duo. then three days later, they were going to the park. in gradually settled into a dinner once or twice a week.

ivan has found that his routine had changed imperceptibly yet entirely one night. his thoughts and knowledge, too, had expanded to include another person; luka.

he isn't sure how it happened. in the morning, a bit after he first gets to the building, luka will show up with two coffees. if it's an "important" date, there'll also be pastries to share. they started to practice together in preparation for debut, and they'd have a five-minute break chatting. (previously, ivan had saved that time to take a look at till a few floors below.) they'd get a bit too engrossed in their practice and have a late lunch down the street, luka somehow able to eat two people's servings of food during the fifteen or twenty minutes they spend eating. they'd practice for a while, and normally on fridays or tuesdays they'd have dinner together discussing their upcoming debut.

ivan's grown to know that luka prefers cold, sweeter drinks like frappuccinos, he can eat really well, and has the flexibility of a gymnast. he knows classical literature but would rather hear ivan's interpretations of it, and he writes songs to reflect a distorted reality. he's taken ballet classes when he was younger and had had chronic migraines up until a few months before joining the company.

it's... unnerving, how easily ivan got that information. with till, he's had to keep careful watch since they were children to know that his favorite food were any combination of meats and spices, that he drew breathtaking scenery and flowers, and that he's composed music since he was five. with luka, it was as natural as breathing.

it was refreshing.

as months passed, ivan found himself on stage, side-by-side with luka, overlooking fans the company had gathered pre-debut. he found that this was what he wanted in the future; back to luka's, or next to each other, or looking at each other, sharing the same love for music or whatever else they may be.

it was a marketing gimmick by the company. as the world grew more tolerant, the company naturally had to follow; even if that meant taking a newly-debuted idol pair and smushing them into boyfriends for the stage.

it's not as if they had to kiss, though. his manager had made sure that ivan wouldn't be forced to do more than heartfelt gazes if he didn't want to. curiously, ivan wanted to feel what luka's lips would be like on his.

he had never kissed another, after all. between till and school or work, there wasn't a carnal need.

so, one night while they were livestreaming, ivan had asked luka. and, five minutes later, he knew;

luka's lips were soft yet cold, tasted like the dinner they had together, and he was quite domineering. he didn't only kiss with his lips - he used his hands and pulled him in, caressed his hip or thigh or face or whatever he could grab ahold of. he didn't care for an audience, but would rather not get ivan implicated by turning them so that only the back of luka's head could be seen.

as luka pulled away and looked in his eyes, ivan could tell. ivan had fallen in love, yet again, and this time it was reciprocated.

till stared at his phone, stomach churning. his timeline, the traitor, had been filled with ivan's new relationship as if it were a dedicated page for it. from debut to now, he'd seen ivan less and less. gritting his teeth, till turned off his phone and looked at his most recent composition. he'd lost all inspiration.

A Flicker of Regret: an Ivantill Ghost AU

Synopsis:

Till goes back to his hometown to attend an old friend's funeral. His late childhood friend, Ivan, died mysteriously one day and whatever happened is making him unable to enter the next cycle of reincarnation. As Ivan's ghosts appears right before Till as he was on his way to the funeral, Till is left to pick up the pieces of what happened, as well as solving the various mysteries pertaining to the town's multiple serial murder cases. Will Till help Ivan find peace?

Extra thoughts:

Till is a college student majoring in music at a university in Seoul. Ivan is left behind in the small town they live in, pursuing photography at a local college.

Ivan was secretly investigating the town's mystery but ended up knowing too close to the truth and was killed before he could take any further action.

In Ivan's last moments, he thinks about Till and regrets that all four of them couldn't get to meet each other when they were adults. He wished Till would magically come and save him until the final strike of the axe hits squarely on his heart.

Ghost!Ivan tells Till that if he manages to help him catch the culprit behind these killings (since he couldnt get to solve it when he was alive), he will be able to move on.

(+++ in high school, Till rejected Ivan's confession. And their friendship got quite rocky after that they haven't seen each other in person since high school graduation. They slowly rebuilt their friendship by calling every day to catch up, until Ivan stops calling suddenly.)

ivan was the prince of his nation that worships the moon and its tides, that is deep under the water, too far for visible light.

when he was six, he first braved near the shores accompanied by his friend, mizi. it's then he saw him. gasping for breath, fighting against the tides.

ivan managed to bring him ashore, and the guards had called him away - leaving mizi there. that was a mistake.

ivan had fallen in love, perhaps, with the boy he saved. the boy, however, had fallen in love with mizi. ivan could tell. when he visited the shore the next week, till was under an umbrella, sketches of mizi scattered around him.

ivan wanted to replace the pink hair for his black, the round eyes for narrower ones, he wanted and wanted and wanted -

- wanted to get rid of mizi so he could hold the heart that was rightfully his.

it was a poisonous thought. ivan was ashamed, he wanted to claw at his skin. how could he hurt his best friend just because she got something he wanted?

ivan visited that shore every week, leaving a gift, hoping that perhaps the boy will see him. however, as though he were mere dirt, till's eyes glided over him. ivan knew why; he was searching for bright pink hair and golden eyes, not the black that disfigures ivan.

in the following decade, ivan had been a tad too obsessive. he grew his hair out, hoping that maybe till's eyes will catch on black under the sea's surface. he forced himself to smile, practicing in the shards of ruined ships. and when he learned till was practicing music, he did so, too. he sang in the depths of the night, when the beach was lonely and the moon hangs high; he learned to compose, to string words and rhythm together to draw in the birds that fly above and the nocturnal fish underneath.

it wasn't enough. why wasn't it enough?

ivan couldn't take it. he visited his cousin, sua, and asked to trade his soul so he could try. he'd lose his tail for feet that stabbed knives into him, his gills for lungs that drowned with each agonizing breath, and eyes accustomed to the salty water for eyes that burned with each blink.

and, if ivan failed, he also gave up his bleeding heart and all its love. he also gave up the consciousness and the memories the sea brought to him. he'd also give up his existence and disintegrate into sea foam. the only thing he bargained for was a voice; a voice to tell till that he was the one who saved him, that he wrote songs and sang them every night.

on shore, ivan was left with only a coat that mizi had given to him, teary eyed as she asked him to live.

and there till was, visiting the beach again. till was a prince; not only in title but also demeanor. he carried ivan to his castle, where he was nursed to health. the room had parchment and ink ivan could write with, fruits in a bowl to keep him full, and a fire lit to keep him warm. a comb lay on the bedside table to keep the hair ivan insisted on growing neat. rings and necklaces and bracelets to decorate ivan, reminding him that he, too, was a prince.

and, even then, even after a week and so much time and effort -

why didn't till look at him? why didn't he visit the man he saved once? how come there were no servants aside from those to deliver meals? how come it felt as though ivan was taken by the sea and isolated in the city of atlantis?

was the entire wing of the palace empty? if ivan sang the songs he spent painstakingly long learning to make, would anyone hear him? he couldn't let that happen! gathering the letters he's written the past week, each a speech that he wanted to tell till, he was determined.

ivan gasped as he took step after step, tears welling in his eyes. he braved the knives in his feet, the aching breath of his lungs, the burning eyes that boiled in tears so he could see till. he was the sea's strongest warrior, for he could take all of this as long as he got to see till.

and mizi?

ivan stopped in front of a cracked open door, catching sight of familiar pink hair and gray hair. the letters in his arms fell, and the tears felt like molten magma from the underwater volcanos. the knives in his feet must have grown rust, for it hurt more than ever, and his lungs must be aching for air, because it felt as though he were drowning.

...of course. it was all futile. ivan grinned, looking down at his letters. every speech would go unsaid, every song unsung, every love unrequited.

letters scattered on the ground, cushioned by carpet, slipping through the door. black hair dissipated, pale skin crumbling; the only remnant of the mermaid-turned-human was sea foam, remaining on the clothing and parchment.

Ivan and Luka running away together in that one marriage au post is literally making me crazy- all Ivan wants is to be seen and important so having someone feel for him in the way he has been longing for all his life is CRAZY- also it’s gotta feel really great for all of Luka complexes that there is finally someone like a peer who will actually stay by his side like he wanted Hyuna to!! (Also like how does till feel about that? Like does it make him regret missing his shot to do the same as children? Does he miss Ivan and want him back or does he hope Ivan is happy?)

And also where do you think they would go? What would their life together be like???

till lost the "make ivan feel loved" challenge ig idk. till is the first to discover they're missing when he barges into their room, grumbling how they won't wake up, and seeing the cleaned room as if no one had lived there. he panics, tries to get everyone else to help search for them, but hyuna says that if it's their choice she can't stop them (inwardly, she's worried about ivan, knowing her past experience with luka).

luka is LIVING it. despite it being his suggestion to leave, they both put in equal work in the plan stage; ivan gets mapping info, etc. they sit next to each other in their room, determining the best time and place, and luka can't help but lean in and feel the warmth of another person.

ivan is kinda obsessive so he doesnt get over till so easily...but also he's in love with luka, so. the physical affection, and subtle compliments sprinkled here and there—he folds easily for luka. luka is probably manipulating ivan somewhat (consciously and unconsciously) to make him fall in love with luka, but till has an unfair advantage, that is, of course, being the love and will to live and die of ivan's life.

if this were animated, it'd be a comparison — it'd show ivan and till's escaping, then it'd show luka and ivan finishing that escape (on a motorcycle, because luka sure as hell cant run w that bod of his). meteors are falling around them, and a piece of ivan that's long been dead revives for that special moment.

anyways they live out their best cottagecore life!!! (complete with gardens and a house made by the two of them together)

hello! I’ve never sent and ask before-so I hope I’m doing this right!!

so I had an idea for an au based on one of ur posts- I’m not sure what universe it would be in but here’s the idea, (it could go in the round 7 Ivan v Luka au but u can make the call)

so for publicity and probably “breeding purposes “ the aliens decided to put together an arranged marriage there two favorite stars, using all this cute concepts they found from humans old culture! Obviously as the #1 most popular human right now Ivan is offered for this idea- but they aren’t told who he will be marrying until later. Ivan has at this point accepted that Till will never love him so he tells his owners he’s okay with it(he feels like without the need to protect till anymore he really has nothing of himself left)

So now Ivan is engaged, to drum roll…..

Luka obviously! And since Ivan has over time been made even more docile he doesn’t even blink and goes along with all the things he’s told to do. When he is told to give Luka a kiss he does when he is told to hold hands with him he does. And as this goes on i think Luka develops that sorta possessive thing he does so he looks at Ivan like “this is mine “

and then once they are further into the wedding planing process, Ivan receives communication from the rebellion like “hey we can u out of there”(that are obviously from till but Ivan doesn’t know that) and to tills shock Ivan says no, he nothing he wants is his to have so what difference does it make if he marries someone he does not love.

the messages continue as the wedding draws nearer and nearer, and Ivan continues to say no (in encreasingly sad and depressed ways that only make till worry more)

then on the day of the wedding till and the rebels crash the wedding! (And maybe it’s right at the does anyone object portion) and they try to take Ivan away , Ivan obviously will go wherever till asks but Luka stops them and says that Ivan is his and they can’t have him! So then till is like ugh whatever if u won’t let us take him u can just come too-

so they all run away and now Ivan is in a love triangle between a guy who he is technically engaged/(married to if they managed to finish the ceremony) who he has grown to care for and is deeply possessive over and his first love !!! The drama!!!

LMAO!! might i add: ivan grows a sort of dependency on luka?? like, theoretically, nothing is growing—but luka is giving ivan hourly doses of physical and other affection that ivan had not had in his life before.

im going off chinese wedding traditions (...or maybe only in dramas, idk) here where the rebels kidnap ivan and luka when they're in the bridal chamber. so they are married, and the last step to truly officiate it is by fucking...which they do in the rebellion base at some point. marital duties, everyone!

so, back in the rebel base while till and luka have animosity together, ivan (very subtly) signals for affection from luka. till is watching, fists clenched, ready to punch the guy like mizi did.

and everyone, really, kinda hates luka except for ivan who has a weird dependency on him. one night, luka is like, let's run away. ivan agrees and they run off to the sunset together.

(i think ivan sees how his presence affects till: till flushes red, is more prone to anger, etc... thus, he thinks it'll do till good if he weren't there)
