Day 3 of the portrait challenge . I still spent a lot of time on skin but this one I chose to practice hair which I hardly worked on tbh. The skin is much better I’d like to say and we tried to imitate more realistic shadows on the skin which I don’t know about still. Once I got to the hair I just wanted to be done with the drawing as my attention span usually wants to move on to other art after a while . Coloring the cake was a last ditch effort, only because I forgot about it haha. I do like the shine in her hair.

I will say doing this has been great in practicing different techniques and finding what styles I actually do like. Stay tuned for more in this challenge 😜

This is day 2 of my portraits challenge where I try to throw out 30 portraits in who knows amount of time cuz between real life work, we are just doing our best. This one I had sketched a week ago. Then painted today. The two balls in her hair are supposed to be cottonballs based on an oc of mine who ties cottonballs in her hair. I spent too much time stressing on skin and got lazy with shading the rest. The amount of time spent I felt was too much so we will adjust as we go. And here we are 😁

I was going to do the background but got tired. Based on a witch OC I made long ago named Silver (because her hair is made of thin strands of actual silver). Anyways challenging myself to try 30 day portrait drawings. Probably won’t be consistent but you will see what you see here hehe.

Favorite part:

“When will you learn…legacy” a huge issue Phabeth has had is accepting people in her life and that there are people who care for. Outlined most when she tells Maxwill that they are HIS legacy which angers him to remind that they are all in this together. It’s not just her, she gad people who want to be by her side. Something she can’t admit.

Lyrics I loved that I illustrated:

-I mean I just like how much Maxwill admits to himself here that she has the right to burn those letters. He hurt her and he knows it. He feels the shame while mediator in the background is nervous and thinking “hot damn” seeing her burn those with her own hands (she has superpowers, as well as Maxwill. Accept it lol)

-“You published…scheme” I love the turn here where Maxwill begins to defend himself. Yes he wronged her but whoa there lets not go calling his new friend a wh@$e when Phabeth doesn’t know her. It hits a cord being how many think of him as just a pretty face so of course she immediately assumes his friend is chasing him because he’s pretty thus undermining their friendship.

- “Your enemy…my sister” this suits the characters well, in that Phabeth doesn’t back down from a fight and here Maxwill isn’t either. Then there’s the obvious crush Phabeth’s bff who is also Maxwill’s brother has on Phabeth. She’s sensitive about the subject.

Comic based on the lyrics of “First Burn” by Arianna Afsar, Rachelle Ann Go, Lexi Lawson, Julia Harriman, and Shoba Narayan

Yes the characters are from my #RebuildingAHome comic. I’ll explain my favorite details of this song and art for each part but basically we have here the main couple having a fight for the other one leaving the other (while obviously falling for another character but won’t admit feelings for) and another character being the mediator of getting the two to finally talk. Turns into a full on argument.

Parts I loved that I had to illustrate it:

- “Do you know…sun” for the hilarious background expressions of our mediator who distunctly remembers bashing on the boy, Maxwill, when comforting the girl, Phabeth, in an earlier conversation. And just the horror of that being called out in front of Maxwill is embarrassing and so comical.

-“Don’t. take… into my arms” when you listen to the song I can always just hear in the break before the first “Don’t” Maxwill trying to explain himself but falling short in words as Phabeth interrupts him. It’s not that she put much effort in quieting his voice, as he does feel guilty enough that it’s hard to explain and so he opts more in the beginning to listen to her out her pains. The next part after the first “Don’t” I always hear it as what if she isn’t saying she doesn’t trust herself around him because he betrayed her, but because she doesn’t want to hurt him too somehow. How she’s admitting that she’s pulling away to protect him from herself but still doesn’t forget the fact that he left her too.

Episode 1 of the 'Rebuilding A Home' comic series!

Following a mute teenage girl named Phabeth (Fae-Beth) living in a world recovering from the Apocalypse. All she wants is to live a normal life with her best friend and new adoptive father. However, the world has evolved beyond anyone's expectations and Phabeth finds herself defending her town from a secret war between the newly evolved superpowered and non-superpowered. A war that had ripped her family apart in the first place. Will she be able to defend her new home or return to the old world she had forgotten? For now she just wants to make her adoptive father proud and somehow find her place at her new high school.
