women’s rock, my laptop being the only source of light in the room, and my cat eared headphones — the evening passes by as i write down my math homework answers, alone, like i always do. being alone never really bothered me. i prefer the solitude and quietness when working on my projects as it helps me focus and stay still. but earlier today i got two headpats from two of my school friends — it was completely unprompted which sparked so much appreciation and love in my eyes. these small, mundane acts of platonic love makes me remember how i’m so used to being okay with the idea that friends come and go throughout my life that i don’t remember there’s a place in the in between where they stay. platonic love is poetic.

platonic love is poetic in a way that it is the most stable type of love in the world. you’ll never quite get rid of the stain it has on your body, whether the friend that left it is stayed or had to leave. i remember how i bought a ukelele for my birthday because my friend wanted to play but couldn’t get their own for a while, or how i watched anime for a long time because my friends found it cool, or how i love lurking around in spotify because a friend introduced me to the world of making playlists, or how my typing look because i’ve picked up little quirks and emoticons my friends used with me — i am simply a mosaic of every single person i have loved platonically. this is what they have given me and it will stay. and even if they’re no longer here, the door will always be open for them to come back home. i now yearn for this type of love — perhaps i’ll write about it when my heart feels full and my eyes are set straight forward. but for now, i stay alone, in my solitude.
