If you live in Ohio, today is a good day to check your voter registration, and to consider booting JD Vance into the sun.

To anyone considering not voting because of the Palestinian genocide, I have this to ask:
How many Palestinian people do you think you're helping by laying back and inviting the GOP to crush you under foot? Self flagellation didn't cure The Plague, and it won't fix this situation either.
If you don't like the idea of voting for Harris, I doubt I'll be able to change your mind, but consider this: 468 congressional seats out of a total 535 are up for re-election THIS NOVEMBER. You want to make the government start actually representing the will of the people? Start there.
We're living in frightening times, and apathy is a very comfortable state of being, but you need to act. If you don't, who will?

Great news!!
We have to grow this lead. Keep the momentum. The best way forward is progressive, not regressive and reactionary.
The world is moving forward, not backward.

Trying to mostly stay away from politics on this blog, but today there’s something I just need to say.
Kamala Harris just defied DECADES of inside-the-Beltway “wisdom” by picking Walz as her running mate instead of Shapiro. The gray-hairs were probably all telling her she had to go with Shapiro to court the independents. Instead of picking the moderate, staunchly pro-Israel guy, she went with a full-on progressive with a strong LGBTQ+, pro-choice, pro-union record.
She’s making a leap of faith here. She’s betting that progressives, young people, and marginalized people will show up for her if she shows that she’s listening. As someone who lived through several decades when progressives didn’t have a voice even in the Democratic party, I can’t begin to tell you how huge this is.
In the coming months, you will no doubt read/hear things about Harris or Walz that you won’t like. Some of it may even be true. There may well already be things you don’t like about her.
Unfortunately, the choice isn’t between a perfect candidate and an imperfect candidate. The choice is between an imperfect candidate and possibly the most disgusting man on the planet, a guy who isn’t even trying to hide his plans to destroy the US. If Palestine is your #1 issue, know that he will do everything he can to pour gas on the flames until there’s nothing left.
Harris made the choice to listen to progressive voices. If she loses because we didn’t show up for her in huge numbers, we’ll likely be wandering in the wilderness for decades more while the planet burns around us.
(Oh, and we’ll need to show up again in 26. Let’s not make the same mistake we made in 2010, when the left stayed home after electing Obama and Republicans won big everywhere, which led to the extreme gerrymandering we’re still dealing with in many states.)

Oh BTW, it's important that as many people vote for Harris as possible, because we don't want a scenario where the votes are close enough that it might be taken to court (much less the conservative-leaning Supreme Court) and ruled in Trump's favor. And yes, this also applies if you live in a blue state; we don't want to risk any doubt anywhere who the winner is.

everyone keeps saying “the bar is on the ground” because it’s a relief that kamala harris can string together a coherent sentence and doesn’t have one foot in the grave. and yeah!!!! it is!!! the bar is so far on the ground that it’s sunk into the soil!!!
if donald trump gets voted in, we will never have the opportunity to raise that bar. because project 2025 will effectively make him a king and the supreme court has already given him immunity. our voices will mean less than nothing.
but with harris we have a chance. we can say “we are tired of choosing the most competent of incredibly incompetent candidates.” by voting in harris we can say “this is the standard we are expecting from the moment forward and we will not go back.
so if you are american and of voting age, i am begging you to go out and vote on november 5th. vote harris, vote blue straight down the line. do your part to keep trump and his ilk out of our government.
even if you think your vote doesn’t matter it does
every single vote matters. we need to unite and join our voices and power given to us by by the US constitution to choose our leaders together. we need to tell them “we are done. we are tired. and you’ll be listening to us now.”

Voting resources for you
You have farther reach than I ever will. If you haven’t already please encourage people, especially those in swing states, to canvas for Kamala Harris. Doorknocking, phonebanking, textbanking, writing postcards (there are several different postcards to encourage voting), even attending the rallies. Please encourage people to get involved however they can
Oh believe me friendo, I am on it. I made this post (before Biden dropped out of the race) with a comprehensive list of links for action items:
My followers @jomiddlemarch and @figuring-421 have also been very involved in volunteering/postcarding/spearheading vote-blue efforts, and might have more ideas beyond those listed here. I will also repost some of the popular items directly:
Get out there, donate money if you can, work hard, and let's do this!

Thank you for your service, President Biden. You have done so much for the American people.
Donald did nothing but drive us to the bottom.
If you believe in America’s future and want an honorable leader, you KNOW it’s time to vote Kamala Harris for President this November!
