Pet Tails
Tumblr media
by Anne Wilkinson for Jellycat
It’s been a while since we made any reviews and I missed it!
We haven’t stopped reading though. We’ve transitioned to reading only board books for the meantime since Mila grabs everything now and I’m afraid she will rip them apart. Any new paper books we get will go high up the shelves where she can’t reach..
This is one of the first books we ever received and is one of our favorites! Its our only cloth book and can hook on to rings so I used to bring it around in our diaper bag.
It usually stays at home now and we read it at least once a week. It is very interactive: so many textures for baby to feel, grab, chew –Mila loves the mouse tail for that one, and it’s made with that plastic crumpling sound all babies love!
There’s no story at all and the first time we read it I confused the blue budgie tail with the bunny’s, but we never tire of going through this one.

JAZZ BABY
Auhor : Lisa Wheeler
Illustrator : R. Gregory Christie
This is definitely one of our favorites! It’s fun and I love the expressive and colorful illustrations.. ok maybe I love it more than Mila does.
It’s about a baby and his family that gets all musical, well jazzy, before naptime. There’s not much of a proper story to it but there’s fun sounds to make, which Mila absolutely loves!

BOOM! Big, Big Thunder and one Small Dog
What a fun read!
Story is about brave, little dog named Rosie, who isn’t afraid of anything but thunder.
We are dog lovers so we were especially fond of this story.
We will definitely keep this book in our list of library faves!

Barnyard Banter
Author / Illustrator : Denise Fleming
Mila loves animal sounds so this one was a hit! It was probably the most she has smiled and giggled reading any book, to date..
The illustrations were great to look at and the colors were nice and bright, which kept her engaged the whole time.
It was a fun experience for both of us but I probably wouldn’t borrow it again or add it to our collection.

Started following her on Instagram and now her blog. Her photos are immaculate and living small with two babies (one of mine being furry) resonates very well with me. There's a list of her favorite books in the post. Maybe we'll try to read them too. Good day!

The Water Hole
by Greame Base
I had The Eleventh Hour when I was little and know about Animalia which is extraordinary, so the thought of opening up a new Greame Base book is exciting.
The Water Hole did not disappoint. There is a story in the borders, it's part counting book, story book, picture book, and if you've read some of our other reviews, you'll know we love animal sounds in stories.
Illustrations are impeccably detailed that just exploring each page is an adventure. It's definitely a great investment for anybody's library.

FISH EYES: A Book You Can Count On
By Lois Ehlert
We loved this book!
Mila loved looking at all the bright colors. I loved how simple it is but can tell a story, teach counting, basic addition or just look at.
It has a great rhythm that Mila probably picked up on and squealed with delight both times we read it.
I definitely want this as an addition to our little library.

WHERE’S SPOT
Eric Hill
This is a regular on children’s book fave lists so I picked it up from the kids section at the library. Sadly some of the flaps were torn off so that made it less of an enjoyable experience.
It’s great for learning prepositions so I would probably read this to her again when she is older.

FARM ANIMALS
Author : Simms Taback
The book opens up to little clues about a farm animal whose picture we can partially see. More clues and more of the picture is revealed as we unfold the pages, literally.
Mila enjoyed watching as the page flaps were unfolded and of course as I made the animal sounds, building up to the "big reveal"
The illustrations are cutely cartoonish and colorful.
It's a fun and quick read, perfect for a pre-nap story. I would recommend it for any age, even great for an older child to read to a younger one.

WHERE’S MY TEDDY?
AUTHOR / ILLUSTRATOR : Jez Alborough
We absolutely loved the experience this book gave us. The soft watercolor illustrations engaged both of us.
It’s an easy read with a few sentences per flip and lots of scenes (almost like a comic book).
The story is cute and the tone is a great read for her at this point.
She would smile at the images which made me smile too.
